I dont't know about there, but here in Italy... if I told a parent "look, your son is just stupid" I would end up in all the newspapers and possibly be sued. We are very aware, don't worry.

First saw your McDonalds vid and then this.
I'm so sorry you had such a negative experience with teachers. I can get the teacher who thought you were intelligent because you are able to explain yourself well.
Best of luck with everything Mark, you seem really sound.

Mate, take it easy on yourself (and teachers!). It's clear from the two videos of yours I've watched that you're not 'stupid'. You have good recall of events and solid deductive reasoning skills, and you present your thoughts coherently. You also seem to be quite passionate about the subject of 'intelligence' and what it means. As far as I know IQ tests are good at measuring a very specific type of intelligence--if you score highly in them it could mean that you may find it easier to perform academically in school and in university, and in a career beyond. Note, I wrote 'could'. It isn't a failsafe method by any means, but it can provide a shortcut for educational systems looking to categorize students into ability streams. But there are several different kinds of intelligence and sometimes it takes understanding what your strengths are for you to be able to make the most of them.
I believe you studied hard and it must have been extremely frustrating for you, your parents, and your teachers when you were at school, not to have been able to find that path for you to fulfill your potential. Being able to set and meet goals is important, and I like this RUclips path--who knows what doors it may open up for you! It is quite funny for someone to stand in front of a camera telling the world about their low IQ while obviously demonstrating enough intellectual and technical ability to think of a subject for a video; develop and record a presentation on that subject for five minutes; and then post it to RUclips. Keep at it, mate--start looking at other peoples' videos you like, maybe, and copying what it is you like about them--that's what everyone else does. Lighting, thumbnails, graphics, etc. It's not that difficult--if you can do this much, you can figure that out. Maybe think about interviewing some people about IQ tests, and what intelligence means. Hell, it's your channel, you do what you want with it, but I like your spirit and your subject matter and that's the hardest part by far. Brilliant work.

Don't pedestalize yourself based on others' expectations. Happiness comes from enjoying your work and what you do, not from striving for external validation or predefined levels of success.

These misconceptions about IQ would be corrected if teachers simply tried to work 1:1 with the students who "just don't work hard". This would make the reality much more clear to them of the actual learning ability of their students. You could easily be mistaken for a smart person because you are quite a good communicator. This is why your teachers and parents thought you were smart.

Good Idea, but Teachers do not have time to work 1:1.
They have to organise the lives of 20+ people,
They have 20+ ppl with different needs in their class,
They have to prepare lessons, constantly re-educate themselfes,
develop their skills and the school they work at.
Try to teach for 6 months and you will find that you have no time for 1:1.
1:1 lessons would be perfect, but theres just not enough teachers these days.

    Feck IQ tests

I think your iq at its lowest is 70 but i doubt it's actually 70. I got tested at 17 in Ireland too. it's just your capacity to learn and problem solving ability. if you have the diligence to learn something then you will.

Hey. Do you have any tips relating to learning or studying for a person with a low IQ?

Sorry for commenting on all your videos in one night lol, I'm going down a rabbit hole here. Again, I won't quantify this, but my iq is different than yours, and yet quite a few of your sentiments resonate with me. I had a French teacher who seemed to cater her teaching EXCLUSIVELY to the BEST students in her class, and I routinely did very poorly, with no hope of improving, because my feedback was always basically just "you suck". That's not a teacher, that's a cheerleader for the gifted lol. Granted, this was an IB class, so already for the "gifted", and I guess I didn't belong there, but still, she could have actually TAUGHT instead of just deducting marks from the least competent students, because that's all it felt like she did to "help/teach" me, deduct marks lol
I did also have an anxiety disorder I'm pretty sure, the brain fog from which I'm pretty sure brought down my iq pretty dramatically when triggered, and -oh joy!- it was triggered by the exact kind of environment my french class/teacher created!

And in your case, You just seem especially intelligent person. Teachers could not guess that You really can´t learn the stuff, even when You tried.

So no matter if you are high iq or low iq, your teachers will still hate you for being different.

So the thing about studying is that you can very easily study incorrectly. Depending on how you learn things, some study methods may not be as efficient as others. Personally, I need visual aids and analogies to study. Being able to visualize abstract concepts by comparing them to concrete things makes the material more intuitive for me. Now to defend your father, I think he may have understood that the way you we're studying wasn't for you and wanted the teachers to try to work on you with it. However, from the way you describe your teachers I can only deduce that they didn't want to "waste their time" so to speak.

I'd love to set up some free tutoring sessions with you if you're interested (you could even record them for content if you like).

In my opinion; you have a very wrong view of yourself here. You probably developed this view during your years with the stigma of ‘having a low iq’. You may have a different way of processing information, but you are neither stupid, nor low in intellegence (in my opinion), and this is coming from someone who has ‘high intellectual functioning’.
I don’t know why we keep degrading people into boxes like these… I actually do; it’s to better understand ourselves, but it does have a way of not being able to fully acknowledge a human being as a unique whole. Rather the opposite actually…
If one of your teachers said you were ‘highly intelligent’, i would definitely take that as a truth because of how well spoken, insightful and driven you are to make a better version of yourself, to help others, to learn, etc. Maybe that’s a reason why some of your teachers didn’t notice. Also; not everyone views people and kids through the lens of iq 🙂 i know people who have lower iq’s but i don’t necessarily view them like that. We have genuine conversations and some of them are very wise 😉.
Everyone perceives and experiences this reality with their own unique set of tools, gifts and abilities.
