This is a general problem where people simply don't acknowledge the reality of IQ. We need a way to accommodate everyone and put them in a job that matches their abilities and what they want. I am sorry your mom did not understand this. The longer we deny IQ as a measurable and important aspect of each person, the more we will be unnecessarily putting people to shame and putting them through undue pressure and suffering or labeling them as lazy. We all have our privileges and misfortunes and we need to both acknowledge them and not judge others for their misfortunes.

Well yeah not everybody has the same iq and the same abilities. Plus, iq measurements are testing specific things like verbal comprehension, working memory and all that other stuff. And you can score high or low in any of those areas

@@JerkingOffJoker a person who has a high IQ will score high on both working memory and verbal comprehension. There is this idea that there are different kinds of intelligences but this is not really true for the most part.

@@lukephillips7239Yes, but when you take a IQ test you're are tested in five core areas verbal ability, working memory, processing speed, spatial reasoning and I think there's another one (forgot). It is very possible to score low in one of these areas. I took a couple IQ tests, I can't find my score for the first one, but for the second one I got average. But that's not what I'm trying to say. Yes usually if someone gets a average score on working memory they will probably have a sub-average score on verbal (low average, average, high average verbal ability whatever). But there are some other areas that a high IQ person could score low on like spatial or processing speed, processing speed is basically how fast can you do these mathematical problems which is actually different from verbal and slightly different from working memory. Feel free to reply back.

I have a very high IQ, not as high as it used to be due to a TBI, but there is an astonishingly long list of things I absolutely cannot do, I can't catch a ball, I can not hit a ball or kick a ball, I can't sing, I am unbelievably dyslexic, my handwriting is utterly illegible, I just happened to be good at the things the IQ test tests.
I would be sub 70 IQ if it tested these things.

@@piccalillipit9211Musical abilities correlate with high IQ though, so typically good singers would have higher IQs than average, I guess.

Well done on sticking with your job for so long and working to improve your life even in small ways, it's inspiring.
In terms of other easy jobs I worked in a bread factory during university, and I'd say that was a pretty easy job. I just had to move things from one place to another (put bread in trays, move the trays around etc.) The main difficulty was being fast enough. They paid pretty well though because of the heat and the noise.

Ok. Lets get this straight. Your sister got to top college. Your results on math part of that test were above average. You are very articulate. You also got diagnosed with aspergers, and your psychologist said that these results of iq 70 are not always accurate. Clearly, she noticed not a typical low iq pattern. The reason noone takes this iq 70 result seriously is because you do not seem to be lower iq at all. Iq does jot improve just like that in 1.5 years - it is possible you had some other issue (like adhd) that you are improving on, and clearly you have potential to improve on whatever is causing you problems. To say the least you do not seem like a typical iq 70 case, most likely because you never were low iq.

That is a very acute observation that not all people really realize that your parents aren’t great at telling their children the truth probably because they themselves aren’t self aware enough or maybe avoid the topic because they don’t want to face the truth that they may have low IQ. So when the child realizes the situation, that child is already above their parent’s IQ I would say. Great job.

And what is the truth? This guy seems to be a very strange case of supposed lower iq. No evidence of that in his videos, has good iq genes (his sister got to top college with ease), has high math subscore, evidently articulate, able to reason analyse and formulate arguments very very well. Also, has been diagnosed with aspergers at some point, possibly has some completely different issue like adhd.

I have a very high IQ, I got tested at school, and my experience with being tested was strangely similar to yours. No one talked to me about what it meant or how it would affect my life, and the school psychologist minimized the test results to my parents - her concern seemed to be primarily to reassure them I was still "normal" and not to worry. I think having an IQ that differs markedly from the general population in either direction comes with difficulties, of different kinds, and it would have been good to have actually been given information, and suggestions from the psychologist on how to deal with aspects of life that are more difficult, instead of just PC fluff that testing high (or low) doesn't matter and everyone's the same really, or everyone's smart in their own way.

Hi Mark, I'm a newly qualified Secondary School Teacher. I just found your channel today. Love your videos. Would love to learn more on how I could improve my classes for students with low IQ. Do you have any thoughts after finishing secondary school on what you wished a teacher could have said or done to make the experience of school that bit easier for you?

Not accepting the reality of biology and genetics is a lot worse than accepting a less than fortunate reality. Society at large finds the whole topic of IQ to be controversial and they don't want to acknowledge its reality. People are in denial of the reality of IQ. Everyone in this society acts as if "anyone can do anything they put their mind to" when that is obviously not true. That mindset causes more harm than anything.
That point you made about the educational psychologist having above average IQ and therefore she should know better is very true. Some people have the IQ but they don't have the wisdom and common sense. Wisdom and common sense don't depend on IQ. IQ won't necessarily make you wise and compassionate

Start a study plan. With a low IQ, less is more as a high volume of study will lead to burnout. Focus on nutrition. Only eat and drink as much as you need, as over eating and drinking is detrimental to cognitive ability. Make sure you get enough sleep. Write down notes on lunch breaks and quiet times to help you learn, such as chicken nuggets go into yellow tray, chicken selects go into red tray. Bring these notes home and study them.

Not an expert but my understanding is that IQ tests only measure certain aspects of intelligence. In many ways you're a lot brighter and more together than most people walking around these days

The strongest predictor of IQ is your biological mother’s IQ. So if you have a low IQ, your mother isn’t the best to help sort things out for you. Best to find a kind, WISE older person outside your family to talk with about what you are thinking and planning for your future. Someone who has succeeded in the important things in life. Those things aren’t important because they are grand and shiny. The important things are decent and honest and respectable.

Anyway (sorry for my english its my second language)
