I'm glad you kicked it.
I had a weird ocd moment where something felt wrong thinking it wouldn't get kicked.
It had to done. GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAL!
Any viewers using his Tig button? I'm about ready to buy one, but keep waiting for some reason. More opinions maybe.
I don't like being tied to a foot pedal. My on/off tig button is ok some of the time, but I miss the heat control near edges, etc. I tried some kind of roller type hand amp control once and didn't care for it all. Really seems like he has the best solution.
Amazing to watch.
He didn't have to make a soccer ball out of aluminum, but he did. He did that for us.
Or so I like to think, anyways.
bit at the end ..... brilliant, spat coffee out , hilarious, well played
Should sell ad space on the welding gloves! : )
Are you related to this old guy named Tony?
Just modelling a soccer ball is a pain. Loved the use of the die to curve the parts. 15/10. Nicely done.
7:41 The true purpose is revealed: Steel toe checker :)
I wonder how many people’s minds you boggle with your welds.
Beautiful.... I can't get enough of your welding vids, you're the aluminium weld KING! Greetings from Southport, UK.
Nice piece of art there and I love the CNC lathe, is that something you put together yourself?
Skills man! Ps: .. .. .. Please stop making the "stack of dimes" look so easy ........respect😉
Starting bid on Ebay is $75,000us
Cheaper than toilet roll then!
Wait, Aaron has hands? I thought he was born with tig gloves for hands....
All those nice tools...
You sure know how to make a grown man cry.
7:41😂😂😂😂😂
Very good 👍 i am Korean welger
I made one years ago out of 2mm Stainless Steel but didn't curve the parts - just welded a small nipple on it and pumped it up with a pressure washer until it "popped" out to round!
That I would have liked to see--not necessarily in person!
As a noob I'm beginning to understand, once you get your technique down, the BIG deal about welding (and fabricating in general of course) is problem solving and creative solutions.
Anyone can get two or more pieces of metal to stick. Having things not warp is the art form.
Glad you showed the fabrication Process before welding; wow! Thank you.
if the "Stig" from Top Gear was a welder, it would be 6061! Nice work!!
Wow that was some next-level problem solving. If you polish this up and put it on pedestal this would make a great soccer trophy
Great now paint it, go to a soccer field & record the pain
5:03 "the flaming welder" great as always
Huge respect for what you do. Keep up the good work. 👍
I watched the whole video just for the 5-10 seconds at the end love it lol
for that one bully that likes football.
fanflippingtastic
I bet you would be shocked at the price you could get for this piece on fleabay!
realy nice work in aluminium! hi from germany
didnt think this was gonna be part of my day. love it
The master of Aluminum welding.
awesome as usual!💪 how did you grounded the work piece? if need another video idea, try making the Disney Epcot Center ball😏 smaller version of course. that soccer ball would make nice table art.
That's it!
I'm gonna dig out all the boards from my TIG that blew up and I never got around to fixing... and fix it!
Damn that ending had me in tears man. Pure gold.
It would be great if you sold this as a kit so all of us who don't have a mill and a lathe could make one. Amazing project!
An Artiste.
Work of art! Though I preferred the partially welded ball 👍🏻
The fully welded version is in my opinion much nicer. Partially welded also looked good, but I think it was definitely much better finished.
Damn nice job.
Please add to your store.
For any of you that weren't aware of his store, go check it out, link in description
Ha!!! When you kicked it. Too funny. How did u calculate the correct curve to press into each segment to get everything to line up?
Overall ball diameter plus some sort of springback factor specific to aluminium, I'm guessing
Knowing the final outer radius, you subtract the thickness of the stock and you get the inner radius. Both these radii are the same for all segments.
I see this video is 4 years old already, so I kinda doubt you'll even see this comment. Hoping you do though.
So with that said, I just went over to check out your store, so hoping to see that you had these hexagon, Pentagon pieces for sale in your "weld it yourself" section.
Is there any chance you could add this amazing project to that list?
That said, I loved this video and love to project. I would absolutely love to try this out
05:15 Here my next project for Mother's day!
Project idea: fabricate an LS style intake to fit a Duramax diesel ruclips.net/video/4ddVgmVFarU/видео.html with the talent, artistry and precision only you have!
Does anyone know what size the Pentagon and Hexagon plates are? I'm trying to figure out what size, so I could cut it and weld them together?
That’s incredible, I’m looking for the comments from all the pros that don’t even own a welder telling you you’re doing it wrong, there has to be some. People are so stupid
Bro how did you did the miling and how thick is the workpiece and ,
How did you clamp into the vice
I'm thinking I should have been a metalworker, not a programmer.
6:42 if the coin said “leave it”, we riot!
Paint it black and white and go put it on a school football ground! Record the ensuing hilarity..
holy shiit
thats awesome skills!
did you sold it on amazon for 12000$?
Why not hydroform it? It seems like it’d be a lot easier to assemble flat then have it... pop out, so to speak
Learned how to make a nuclear compressive shape... I mean soccer ball.
See!? And THAT'S why you should always wear steel toe boots!
The kick at the end is what waited for 😆😆
Omg if you could paint it to look like a actual soccer ball I have a neighbor that I would love to prank .
Kewl!! And a really good Neymar impression at the end. Thumbs up!
That was more of a Ronaldo “the wind messed up my hair and now I’m in excruciating pain” impression 😂
Ouch, my eyes. I didn't have my filter on.
sooooo now the question how hard can you kick it before it shatters in 1000 pieces
you should make another one, fill it with lead, and have someone paint it so it looks like a normal soccer ball and then leave it at a park then stand back and watch
Oh the april first game is going to be so funny.
Now fill it with hornets.
Can such a ball keep a vacuum inside? Will not collapse?
1:59 when you die in pacman 🤣
ummmm that looks like an implosion mirror. maybe not a good idea to google that one.
Oh snap a 7+ minute video!
Fucking awesome video as per usual!
Noice! New lathe?!
4:33 Burning my retinas through the screen lol
hey mario, check out what i made
its a stone luigi you dident make it
Couple tacks here and there... Boom.
Hahahahahaha!! The ending killed me 🤣🤣👏👏
Ok now you're just showing off.
polish the welds and it would look even better
The guy makes it look easy believe me it’s not
very nice ډېرښائسته
I'd kick the ever loving heck out of that
The whole process, very cool. Well done.
Can I have dimensions please or the plates
next vidio how to shoot the aluminiom ball
those weld beads gimme a chubby
Wow that’s sick!
@2:00.. super mario shrinking
I'm an airplane mechanic and use 7075 aluminum. With the copper content 7075 is made of and makes it very hard to weld. Can you weld 7075??
Woah woah woaaahhh....CNC lathe?!? Where you been hiding that, huh?!? Mister “I’m too good to show off all my toys to my adoring fans”! That is a sweet ball though. Good job!
totally useless but utterless beautiful
Some might find this video silly. But 6061 is just dropping tons of fabrication tech on all the kids, without saying a single word.
6061 here is a project for you.. Technically speaking this, i.e. Soccer Ball is a "Truncated Icosohedron". It has "dihedral angles of 142.623 where the pentagons intersect the heaxagon and 138.19 where the hexagons intersect. It's miter angles are 18.6867 where the pentagon and hexagons intersect. And, 20.9052 where the hexagons intersect. You should mill the pieces these miters and then assemble. Once assembled put it in a lather and turn it into a sphere. That would be a great project. I've done this in wood several times. Good job on this project. Very interesting.
Oooh! Do a volleyball next! Maybe bowling ball?
JK. Fantastic work, as always. Not only are your welding and fabrication skills incredible, but also your filming and editing. Top notch!
I struggle to tack weld my Alu pieces. At what Amps do you tack them so easily sir? My pieces 'melt away' from each other, not 'towards to' each other 😢
kicks the ball thank me later 7:41
You are one of the VERY few people on RUclips to tighten ALL of the fingers of a lathe or drill chuck!...I was taught to do this by an old very good machinist...
Damn you, coin!
Also, you should replace the plug with an air valve and put the proper psi in there.
Excellent job. I was thinking someone needs to kick that.
Can I buy one of those? That would be the perfect gift for someone I know. Perfect for engraving.
Now their needs to be a game
Awesome work, beautiful shop. I made a similar project out of steel. Turned it into a fire pit. I just had to take it out and kick it around the yard, it was fun up until the cracks got filled with dog shit. Well I guess you live and dont learn lol.
3:41 A naked hand is exposed to all of us, it is an Honor! :) Also, I like to think you flipped the coin until you got the 'right' answer and that is the version added to this video! Love the work as always!
wonderball
Really cool! Kind of wish you welded the inside to keep the seam gaps tho.
You need to fabricate a workboot. The stitching could be different weld beads and the lacing could be molded filler rod.
Awesome work! Just curious how long has it taken you to develop such an amazing shop! I’m getting there, but I can only dream of a shop like this!
