Tank looks good. I’ve bought everything from you I did the sicce pump upgrade. Awesome. Used the old pump to mix saltwater. Also added the skimmer and made my own second chamber media design.

Great looking tank! Thanks for the inspiration to get back into the hobby. I upgraded with the same pump and media chambers but now find that the display tank water height is almost at the very top - touching the plexiglass lid. Do I need to adjust the pump output? I would imagine just taking water out would just reduce the level in the 3rd chamber. Thanks

Thank's for the return pump advice I will definitely be getting one of those for mine. The stock light and lid that come with the tank are horrible, the light gets too hot and the lid traps the heat and in a well-airconitioned house, I couldn't get the water temps under 82*f until I replaced the light and lid.
The stock heating element is underpowered. I was getting temperature swings even when I added a second 20W element. The solution was buying a 50W heating element. This is because its better to cycle the heating elements fewer times for a more stable temperature. I live in a hot humid climate so my tank also fights the AC. Now the tank never swings more than 1.5 degrees.
I would love too see a video on your top 10 must have coral for each category. By category i mean lps, softie, sps. Also a review on the nero 3 would be nice.

I 3d printed my In tank chamber I have yet to set the tank up I just bought the skimmer and the wave maker controler next will be the aquaknight light and an ato if you do it in stages you can get alot of nice upgrades your a shop so instantly you can fill it with coral ect a bare bones setup then slow upgrades is more common for the everyday person
Can you explain what are in the 3 chambers? You mentioned chamber 1 Floss - chemipure - more floss, and possibly Marine Pure gems. What is in chamber 2? I am setting up a Fluval 13.5 this week.
Do you think a wavemaker is necessary if I run the Syncra Silent 1.0 with the VCA dual head 1/4” RFG? I just don’t want to have too much flow where it bothers any of the corals but have enough to keep them happy and healthy.
Question does the pump fit right in out the box or does it need a bit of modification to fit ?

I got the Fluval 50w heater but it won't fit in the 3rd chamber with the pump, so yesterday I got a shorter heater.... gonna give that a try and if it works out I will likely add a heater controller as a bit of safety, and get the media baskets....
Do you recommend the media baskets and water changes, instead of the chamber 2 basket and the skimmer in chamber 1? I don't have the skimmer yet because all the local shops haven't had the right skimmer in stock...

yeeees! I have the 5g and the "2g" and I've made quite a few mods myself but I'm unable to find custom stuff for them aside from the media baskets!

How do you clean the gems? I've always been hesitant to use bio balls or rock rubble in the media basket because I know they can also become detritus and algae traps...
you dont clean them just leave them
This is another excellent reason for upgrading the pump and doubling the flow pushed through them

These syncra 1.0 is expensive, anything out there less expensive that will up the GPH and fit in the chamber?
How do you make an euphyllia garden? I can't see to place them in a way that makes them look like that.

I have an EVO 13.5 but I’m having a real tough time finding a heater that fits in the small back compartment with the pump! Hopefully it’s not an issue that the heater is literally touching the pump and the cord? Which heater works best for this aquarium??

I noticed you have 3 fish in there could you keep 2 ocellaris clownfish in here with a purple firefish and a Watchman goby with pistol shrimp,snails and hermit crabs or would that be too much

Is a v2 Ilumenair 600 ok for this tank?
I immediately went out and purchased the first chamber media box from intank and the plug as well as the return pump. I was so excited for my upgrades. But I have to admit, after putting it all together, I'm extremely disappointed. I feel like the plug was the biggest mistake. The water level now in my back chambers is always below half full. It's like the pump sucks too much for the rest of it to handle. The water barely trickles through the media in my first chamber. And now there is a lot of water noise. I love the pump but as far as the other upgrades I wish I never did them. My tank functioned so much better before. I've tried removing the plug but because I glued it to eliminate leaks, I cannot get it out. Has anyone else suffered these issues? I don't understand why my chambers are always so empty and no longer remain filled with water
It sounds like you don't have enough water. I highly recommend getting an auto top off.

Do you dose the fluval?
With the original lid, my ATO water went down more or less an inch. Took out the original lid, within 3 days half a gallon of ATO water has been used.

you can yes check out the montipora we have on the top
love everything you said, except, you said that last media you talked about would somehow effect nitrates? completely not true. maybe you misspoke. those are great, but in order to maintain the surface area they require rinsing (in salt water!) or they get clogged up and become useless. I've used them, and soon after thrown them away. just like most bio filtration they get gunky over time and end up causing more bad than good. gfo is a better option if you're not someone who keeps a schedule for maintenance and want to remove nitrate. even better would be cheato, I use cheato in the back compartments of my fluval evos with a small red/blue spectrum light with great success.
Let me know more, im interested. I have intank chamber 1 and chamber 2. Currently i run floss, and then chemi, leave bottom empty. Add floss at bottom of chamber two with biomedia for the last two. I do find what you have said is true about bio. Would you run something like filter floss, chemi, filter floss (for carbon particles) then run the last two chambers as cheato with a grow light? Or should i put cheato in the first chamber and use chemi in the second?

I'm not a fan of hydor really, they make good power heads and good atos and that's about it. their heaters esp are complete trash. I have 4 hydor atos, 3 of which have been going for over 3 years with ZERO issues! the other one didn't have issues but it's new.

The single pump is still not enough. You need a second pump. I drilled my Fluval 2.6 pico and it made the best random flow then just having one single pump that doesn’t make random flow alone.

Check phosphates.
If you're running the stock light, switch to the blue light setting for most of the day. I do daylight for an hour in the morning and an hour at night. It slowed my bubble algae growth way down, and had no affect on my GSC

If you are going to replace almost all the component of an AIO then why do you bother with an AIO?

Why make a video like this and not include a list of all of the upgrades in the description? SMH ... Also, HOLD THE DAMN CAMERA STILL. If you're going to show products, have them right there next to the tank. Walking the store and spinning the camera around made me nauseous in about 20 seconds.
