RESCUE EXTRACTION AT ÖLÜDENIZ

May 13, 2024, Ölüdeniz, Turkey. At about 1600m above sea level, I start my acro maneuvers under the guidance of Théo de Blic, world champion in acro paragliding. I attempt to enter a heli via a stall. I mess up the entry and begin to spin in a twisted manner. Instead of exiting forwards, I try a back exit. This mistake immediately results in getting twisted about five or six turns.
At first, I try to untwist using leg movements. It begins to work, but then the wing engages in a 360, and I end up getting satellized. No way out for me, I throw my reserve.
However, the Rogallo reserve gets tangled with the paraglider's lines. I still have some time before deploying the second reserve. I repeatedly try to clear the lines, and finally, the Rogallo deploys.
The paraglider's lines encircle those of the Rogallo, and some even wrap around my forearms. I must free them to neutralize the paraglider by wrapping the brakes. Then I grab the Rogallo's brakes, but also caught in the lines, I barely manage to steer it towards the beach. No chance of reaching it, I end up in the water. A boat rescues me within a minute.

Bonjour JP, il s'agit d'un stage d'acro. Ölüdeniz fait partie des sites magiques pour ça du fait de l'altitude qu'on a au-dessus de l'eau pour travailler en sécurité.

En fait j'ai tiré trop dur pour tenter une marche arrière de sortie d'une entrée ratée d'héli, comme je l'explique dans le texte. Comme j'avais déjà commencé à tourner, le passage brutale en marche arrière a provoqué le twist.
