Makes sense lore-wise since the ship can already do that when you are in an SRV and recall the ship to your location.
Of course, it can do that now without an advanced docking computer.... 😉

Its sad the game becomes so nerfed and even more combat heavy . Exploration is now ruined no fun in that any more, mining is some what enjoyable , combat has had all the updates and patches, its becoming rather disgusting.
Its mining had one decent update, exploration got ruined with an extremly poor and lazt designed update , trade well not much difference ..
But combat got all the updates . hopefully there will be some big exploration trade and mining updates and good interaction . becouse people are getting fed up with all that pew pew crap.

Agreed, the voice acting and NPC chatter is some of the best I have heard... although, it doesn't really make sense. They are in a thin atmosphere and wearing helmets... buuut that's just the logic of video games. If Elite were 100% realistic, there would be no sounds in space, but that would be incredibly boring.

Also noticed that weapons do indeed leave physical damage. At 7:29, the frame around the airlock gets hit from laser fire from behind the player and leaves a hole from the hit. That's very detailed!!! Also see damage from laser fire at 8:59.

I wonder how many missions will be only suitable for group play. E.g one player in a tech suit to hack/program/engineer something and another in heavy armour to defend the tech etc. The mission they showed us doesn't seem completable by a solo player. Or, will it scale? Maybe the NPC crew you hire at stations will come along and fight with you.

Happy to see that the bases don't look like janjy presets plopped down on the planet, since they're procedurally generated. At least the base in the trailer looks alright. Gun play looks about as weak as I expected, with no weight or feel to the guns seen in the trailer and the shooting itself looks like the weakest link. Overall doesn't look too bad, too bad I'm on Xbox and can't even pre order yet.

  • @Galerak1

One thing I noticed was the lack of view bobbing when moving around. You can clearly see your team mate's running action at the start, their head isn't stationary. Then again at around 4:40 when you see your own shadow as you're character is running, again, there is definate bobbing of the head, yet your own camera view seems to run on rails.
I know this is pre-alpha footage but I think this definately needs addressing, I honestly thought that we were in 3rd person view at the beginning of the video.
Apart from that it's looking pretty cool for a first look 👍

They’ve been working on this for years and poured millions into development. Also, as we’ve learned time and time again from other developers and publishers, things will not dramatically change between this and what’s launched in a few weeks. Just be sure to temper expectations.
That said, I see what they’re going for and think it could be pretty fun if it.... works.
The fact that they had to run and capture this footage multiple times to put together a halfway coherent video is a big red flag. I’m getting some real “EVASIVE MANEUVERS!!!” vibes from this, even though it is technically in game footage.

yeah yeah, love these "role playing" type of gameplay trailers... Like it needs 3 players and stealthy behavior to do any of this, and "shout if you need me" "see you at the rendezvous point" I bet in the final version someone pretty much just crash lands his ship in the middle of the settlement, jumps out shoots everyone in like 10 seconds goes in blows the whole shit up back in his ship in 30 seconds tops total and flies away... Dam npc are bullet sponges was hoping for a more hard core damage model closer to Squad , and no extraction did Not feel intense didn't feel like they were in danger at all npcs shots almost never hit didn't feel like they needed to move from cover to cover(its too bad there is so much cover to use) to stay alive npcs aim was very bad . And agree with the head not bobbing wile moving makes it look wrong there needs to be some head movement wile walking or running made it feel like you are a stick man .Other than the combat the rest looks very nice but combat is the main thing so lets hope they fix it.If i can use Squad again as an example the sound in that game is one of the best and also missing is a better stronger suppression effect wile under fire witch Squad does very well making you feel like you need to take cover.

The breakdown is, even with FD staff role playing and dressing up the content as much as possible, it looks - surprise surprise - like a mediocre FPS affair, that will not stand up well to the plethora of dedicated FPS titles available.
With this whole new Eastern Front being opened up, we'll now also see gameplay and balancing issues, problems that have plagued the Westen Front now for 6yrs.
I fear we're seeing the biggest development effort yet to ED creating a FPS bolt on, which for most CMDRs after a month or so, will prove to be basically a dust collecting Multicrew 2.0. We can only imagine if this huge development effort had instead be used to move the existing core gameplay forwards, gameplay which in many areas is half baked and in desperate need of some TLC.

      @NFawc 3 года назад +3

      @@timesthree5757 Interesting...
      So:-
      - You don't see the large development effort for a stand alone game (CQC) as an issue? Rather than investing that time moving the core game forwards?
      - You don't see the large development effort for Multicrew which is all but a shallow dead end feature for most CMDRs as an issue? Rather than investing that time moving the core game forwards?
      - You don't see the huge imbalance introduced to PvP & PvE by Engineering as an issue? Or the shallow grind loops it forces as busy work?
      - You don't see countless shallow bolt ons as poor choices of development time? When was the last time you went to a generation ship? I suspect most CMDRs visited one at most, or most likely none.
      - It doesn't concern you that 6yrs in the combat is still shallow? Where are any more involved combat scenarios? Why is it 25yrs ago I could play space games with more involved combat (defend/attack locations, escort convoys etc).
      - Why is if after numerous efforts crime and punishment is an over complex ineffective system?
      - Why is there still no career progress and depth to criminal activity? Why isn't piracy far more involved and engaging?
FD have struggled with poor management and design choices to move ED forwards. Too much of the past 6yrs has been a missed opportunity.
As an example. Consider if CQC had created fighter based gameplay in the core game. Imagine how that could have been leveraged. Holomeing into fighters in a mission to defend a ship from pirates. Holomeing into fighters defending a station from Thargoid scouts. Or escorting a convoy through an asteroid field. Heck, allowing certain PowerPoint outcomes to be dictated by orchestrated PvP fighter tasks.
But instead we've had years of all too often shallow bolt ons, and even worse, large wasted efforts.
And now, they risk introducing this habit of creating half baked and/or poorly conceived mechanics to a whole new area of the game, FPS, when that massive development effort could have delivered so much to a core game crying out for true progress.
Again, I fear were going to see a mediocre FPS which after a month or so will generally prove of little interest to most CMDRs. And that's where the largest development effort yet for ED will end up. Another niche feature collecting dust for most CMDRs, while the core gameplay is still crying out for true progress.

funny thing you mention it. tbh i lost trust in fdev in the last two years. tehy have used ups the massive trust of the player community and monetized it for themselves, wich is fine on the one hand.
i mean they are a business and dont owe US the players anything, tehy give a product and we accept it at the moment we give them our hard earned, or ill received dollars/euros/shekels/pounds whatever.
at the moment we we pre order a non tangible non limited good what happens there?
well you buy in good faith, that the product might be ok. all based on trust.
assuming you played the game since the early days you should have at least the decency to acknowledge that they misused trust and always feel below expectations. tehy left the game dormant now one and a half years, working on this expansion for three years. loosing idk how much of the playerbase, disregarding and shoving up the fanbase, extending the grind into infinity making it akin to any korean mmo.
balancing was of the roof for years. things like engineering are broken and will never be fixed.
and still i look into the game and its content crators every now and then.
      why?
      because I DONT CARE obviously!
this game has one big big big positive.
and thats the playercommunity and everything that goes along with it. but it also shows dramatically the failure of fdev when it comes to overall playability. you need 3rd party tools ectect, if you are EVEN a player you will know all of this.
im not trying to ridicule anyone over decisions they made in their live, but i give you a pass since you dont know me and most ppl are kinda arseholes.
spacelegs was a meme and most of us just wanted to wander around the ship, now we get a mediocre, at best, fps and we still cant enjoy our ships to the fullest, thats why om kinda pissed. its a giant waste of time and money on fdev side if you ask me.
once more they showed that they have no connection to the players and it feels again and again that they just spit in our faces.
i HOPE that im super wrong and everything will be awsome, but do i trust them enough to preorder?
      no
do i believe gameplay will be better on release than what is shown?
