  • Hey, guys! In this video, I talk about the differences between a Plain Jane and a “Pretty Girl”, why men seem to prefer the former and why I’m a proud, card toting member of the “Plain Jane Society”.
    Enjoy! ♥️

    Pretty has gotten misconstrued over the years. Pretty=looking like a drag queen. Not dressing up in drag means plain Jane. Dolce you are naturally pretty, inside & out. ❤

    Hi Dolce I really love your advice. Young women need to hear you. You are absolutely right because you have to respect yourself in orderto be respected. It’s not a game when you put yourself out there trying to find Mr. right and you lower your standards to do so. When you do that it will ultimately fail. Relationships take trust and honesty to work. Thank you. I’m a plain Jane and I know that I get the respect I demand because of it.👍🏾

    Happy Sunday Dolce !👼🏽 Great video.. It does not take a man a long time to know what he wants, so women need to listen up. You can surely attract a man with all the hair, nails, makeup etc; but a lasting relationship requires more than just being "pretty". A woman of good moral character is one of the necessary components of a long lasting relationship, and many of us must refocus our values and priorities. I agree with you that "the value of the product speaks for itself". Good advice to follow.

      Happy Sunday, Sandra! 🌞 You are so right. Women say that me. are hard to figure out, but they’re really not. Especially when you listen to what they say. They know what they want when they see it and it’s gotta be more than just the “pretty” to keep them (for the most part). 👍🏾

    Sometimes I feel like the girls who say plain Jane are just too insecure to say natural beauties cause they know they ain’t it. So many plain Jane’s I know are way more beautiful than the friends I have that wear makeup when it’s off. A mean wayyyy more prettier. Night and day type of thing. You=natural beauty

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  2 месяца назад +2

      Thank you! And there does seem to be a bit of a “mean girl” aspect behind the term as it’s not usually meant as a compliment, so I can see your “insecure” point. I think also there’s always been a strong narrative put out there by the media/culture/ trends, etc. of what beauty is that when someone who doesn’t fit that prototype gets attention, there’s a genuine confusion. It’s interesting, though…

    • @SimplyWithLove1
      @SimplyWithLove1 2 месяца назад

      @@DolceDawn definitely interesting. I think maybe because without all those changes they don’t fit the standard of beauty. A few things are okay hair Niall’s minimal makeup to coverup acne etc but when you change your whole face body and look its too much

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  2 месяца назад +1

      @@SimplyWithLove1 I tend to agree with you. I mean, I know it comes down to personal choice, but I do think there’s something to be said about someone who changes their face and body to fit an ever-changing beauty standard…

    Lemme preface this by saying ofcourse not all men but a large number perpetuate these assumptions
    I feel like these assumptions come from the many men who have married "plain Jane's" and stepped out on them with the "baddie" types. Also the many instances we have seen of guys who left girls who held them down for their "dream" girls once they made it and a lot if not all of those times the dream girls have the "baddie" aesthetic.
    That's how I see the reason for these assumptions it doesn't mean so called "plain Jane's" are less pretty in fact far from it they can be absolutely beautiful but no matter how many times men say they prefer the Natural girls their actions always reveal otherwise

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  2 месяца назад +3

      VERY good points! It’s almost like the boy who cried wolf: you say you want a “natural” woman, but upgrade to a “baddie” when the opportunity arises. Or did these men settle in the first place, using the natural gal as a placeholder until the right beauty came along? OR do they really want both, maybe just at different times? (This can go a whole bunch of ways…lol) Again, this is not ALL men. But it does seem like the goal post keeps changing back and forth every time we get the ball. Such goes the trends of the times, I guess…

    Plain Jane vs Pretty girl does not mean high or low maintenance, it has to do with actual inherit beauty. We are not born the same, some are more attractive than others, whether you are high or low maintenance in the makeup and nails department is another thing altogether. Yes looks (inherit beauty) do mean a lot to men, but conservative values matter more. No man likes masculine boss babes.

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  2 месяца назад +1

      Well, “plain” means unadorned and “Jane” is a basic, uncomplicated name. So it would be fair to assume that the phrase was coined and applied to women that exhibited these traits/characteristics, especially since I have yet to come across someone who’s “high maintenance” (or highly adorned) be accused of being a “Plain Jane”. But, based on your take on it, I guess the term can also be used based on personal interpretation.
      Also, would you automatically equate being a “boss babe” as masculine or can there be a separation of the two, i .e., is there such a thing as a “feminine” boss babe?

    • @GoodVideos-ry5ie
      @GoodVideos-ry5ie 2 месяца назад

      @@DolceDawn There are many examples of mediocre looking women, who are high maintenance, and there are many examples of women who are pretty but are not high maintenance. High maintenance is someone like Lizzo, hair, makeup, nails costumes etc but not really attractive. Serena Williams, when she was a little younger was a good example of someone who was pretty but not really high maintenance. Just the bare minimum of makeup, dressed casually, modestly. If you are managing/running a hair salon or an etsy shop online with a few staff members, I would not necessarily consider you a "boss babe." But generally if you are working in a high performance, competitive job like wall street, corporate america, generally you will be more masculine and less attractive to men.

    • @DolceDawn
      @DolceDawn  2 месяца назад +1

      @@GoodVideos-ry5ie Correct - the fact that you are “high maintenance” has nothing to do with being pretty. I never said it did. Again, Plain Jane means unadorned, not unattractive. Even the Tik Tok girl said that in her vid. When I said “high maintenance “, I was basing that off of HER definition of a “pretty girl”, which included a list of high maintenance qualifiers like lashes, hair, makeup, etc.
      And, as you know, “boss babe” is not an official title. So any woman who’s a boss, in charge or the head of something - whether on Etsy or a hair salon - can freely call herself one regardless of what others think. But your opinion on what a boss babe is is interesting. How does working corporate or in a competitive field make a women more masculine?

    • @GoodVideos-ry5ie
      @GoodVideos-ry5ie 2 месяца назад

      @@DolceDawn To be successful in large corporations, building a career, you must stand out, have elbows, be analytical, be focused, be efficient, be effective, be qualified, be ruthless, a no nonsense approach. These are masculine character traits and when a woman stays in this environment for too long she basically turns into a man, which is very unattractive for a man. Being feminine means you stay in your feminine energy as much as possible, fresh, nurturing, peaceful, gentle, caring, kindness etc. Women are beauty objects and inspiration muses for men. When they behave like men, they become his competitor, a business colleague, a threat which does nothing for his need for feminine intimacy.
