We run a 747 Manitou, we’re in Ontario Canada. We have a 300 head dairy op. These machines are great, the manitou allong side our self propelled TMR mixer works great. Moving snow, bales, feed. Every odd job. Grapple buckets. There now a vital part of our operation and will be for a long time.
Eric i could not help but notice how many of the ladies were watching approvingly of you & your dad improving their sleeping/lounging area!!! Y'all have such a beautiful herd and they are all so happy. Great work by you and your dad. You two truly are amazing men.

One thing, on telehendler when forks are way too apart never move left one always right, because usually you cant see right fork, so you have better orientation when unloading.
The Manitou looks quite agile and easy in and out for the operator. It would come in handy come fall lifting pallets of tire weights up onto the crop cover. Cheers 🇨🇦

Those telehandlers are nice. About a dozen years ago I worked for a company that used a Bobcat skid steer. We used it to haul popped perlite, so when I went to lower it to the bin, I accidentally hit the lip of the bin too hard and dumped a bunch onto myself. No plexiglass on the opening, I was not happy. One of those telehandlers would have been great to use. Thanks for sharing, have a great day.
While watching you and your dad work, I was checking out the girls. With all the pounding and sawing and rattling of the power driver, they seemed so cool about what I was thinking would freak them out. You make a really good life for your herd. They are calm and happy. You give these animals a good life. I love that about you and your family, Eric.

I have manitou telehandler too, we bought it brand new in 2013, and it is working to this day smoothly, put 6800h. and its main hands of the farm compared to the loader on tractor, which is good but it is not the same work quality and speed. Also as i see they left the same joystick which is great news, we have the same joystick ands it is amazing, sensitive but not too much, responsive and i dont need any shaking option for bucket to clean it, i have tried also other telehandlers, but that joystick is more natural to the palm. great machine, especially when i need too load thousands of bales. I was thinking that it would be attractive for the machine manufacturers or the dealer to loan those machines on a longer-term agreement. Mike Morgan (Outdoors with the Morgans channel) has a couple Kubota tractors that are provided to him long-term, which is excellent advert for Kubota. Your dad is a beast! At his age doing this kind of work -- is truly admirable. Dairy work (and pig work) is probably the most difficult farming known to man. It takes a special breed of person to endure this type of work. If you know, you know. Thanks for what you do...and I wish your brand of milk was sold in Nevada. I love Manitou telehandlers. We have them in the UK and when you see them working on building sites they are very impressive. I nearly applied for a job as an operator coz I heard that they were on like £14/hour, but then I found out about all the training you needed to go through to operate one and I was like "Bugger that!"
Great vid Eric..Surprised you don't have cow brushes installed on the farm. I seen some farms with them installed for the cows and they absolutely love them!
Eric you should try a telescope wheelloader. We drove a telescopeloader for 10 years and switched to a telescope Wheelloader in 2019. The telescopeloaders get very expensive when they get old or many hours. The hydraulic Lines in the telearm, wheels, axels for example. You also have a much better overview from the (Tele)Wheelloader cab. We are using the loaders for feeding, Straw, construction work and so on we sold the old telescopeloader with 13000hours. That bad boy with the 4w steering has to be a lot easier on rubber and keeps the whole place looking nicer. Is it any better on fuel, and other consumables? Is there a "mulching attachment" available? Those are fun if you have a ton of brushy acres!!!
The Manitou looks like it is more maneuverable than the JCB. I wonder if you can get a scale for those things so you can see how much material you have in the bucket. I know it's possible with front end loaders.
The trick to adjusting forks is to tilt them down until the bottom of the fork tyne, where the bend is, just starts to pull away from the back support. Then it’s easy to slide them over.
I think someome wanted to test these cool machines out because of a certain english dairymans love of them. Tom pemberton. Lol i hope you end up with one if you can justify the cost/use.

I just saw a documentary inFinland where with just 300 cows, they produce enough methane from manure to power a generator and make electricity for all the needs in the farm and even have surplus which they sell back to the power companies!!! That would be great in your farm!!! I watch your channel all the time and I enjoy watching Eric do his thing!!! Check it out!!!
Those anearobic digesters are great for energy production and sustainability form a greenhouse gas point of view, but not so much for soil health. Manure holds a lot of organic matter (food for soil microbes) and most of the N, P and K are tied up in that organic matter. The digestate coming out of these anearobic digesters acts more like a synthetic fertilizer in the soil, a large amount of the organic matter has been digested and the NPK has already been ‘converted’ from organic to a mineral (plant available) form.

Great video, as usual. Interesting machines. Telehandlers definitely don't tear up the ground like the skid steers do. I wonder if the tires will last longer? Hard decision on which to use for general purposes. Would come down to how much you need the close quarters maneuverability of the skid steer.

Hole in the end of the forks for a shackle and you'll have a mini crane as well. I think for the maneuverability you require the skid steer is difficult to beat but the telehandler is more versatile. A nice problem to think about. Top content mate 👌

Eric love your RUclips channel and it seems we like some of the same people on the tube I just recently watched a Q&A you did a few years back with your dad it’s was very nice you guys are a great team On that Manitou tele handler It would not be a good idea to remove that safety cage blocking your view Because of the way you windshield leans back it would be a great safety hazard Stand to the side and have someone raise the boom Look at the position of the bucket over your window If anything ever fell out the back of the bucket it would land in the operators lap This would be you If your windshield was more vertical it wouldn’t be such a hazard But I have to tell you I’ve had skid steers among other equipment in the past and only dreamed of the gadgets they put on the machine nowadays very impressive
On your Manitou loader You mostly only handle soft feed and manure but things freeze ware you live So imagine having the bucket in the air hitting a bump and a chunk of frozen silage rolls out the back it would be like a bowling ball coming through your window
You should demo a "Merlo" telehandler if you have a dealer nearby. We have 2 and really like the hydrostat drive. Also the boom controls are very fast compared to other brands.
The Tele looks usefull and seems to me as an good Invest, Eric. Time is money and it's healthfull you don't have to hop over the Bucket into the kabine. Here in Germany, Nobody uses skidsteer for Farming. It's Alwaysea Gift to make getting work done faster as usual. I"m bedding all my cattle by Hand and by wheel loader. Tomorrow I'm getting a straw blower on Demo. Hope to save me some Time and less some hard Work. Greets from Germany
the big bucket is nice, the manitou seems a bit light to operate it daily in your industry. I don't think it would hold up as well over time as say a proven construction unit like a CAT might. though not as light and nimble far more durable.

The side arm seems difficult to use with fork attachment. The maneuvering would be a learning curve. Lol.

We have the next size up and absolutely love it. We put around 1000 hours a year on it and have had very little problems.

At 3:41 when you are backing out there was an illusion of you extending the boom forward as you were backing out.

Noticed that when you were loading with a full load and turning hard it was rocking pretty good. Might want to be careful with that

As an objective observer, it seems like the telehandlers have more weight distribution but less maneuverability.
Can you get a scale on the tele? Might eliminate the double trip to every feed commodity component.
