VG10 has been around but so have a lot of other steels that are “new” even though they’re only new in the sense that we just started using them for knives. I’ve always appreciated the Japanese attention to detail in so many areas of their lives and thus appreciate their approach to steel as well.
One of the first things I did after using the knife for a week was to grind off the grooves at the back and make the whole thing a 90 degree spine with a nice burr. As designed the striking surface is too small - works way better ground back and burred. I took the clip off and removed the inner small clip. Out of the box you cannot put it on a leather belt - tore my belt struggling to take it off. I put the reshaped clip back on but mostly have the knife on a neck cord. I completely reground the bevel angle to get a much better shaving cut on fuzz sticks. Take the ferro rod out and screw it in on the other end of the fitting for a longer strike into a tinder nest - also allows you to follow around the rod for even wear. A better design would be a fold out rod so you don't have to screw and unscrew. The ceramic sharpener is only for touch ups - you will need a good diamond dust file for the VG10 steel - a regular Nicholson just skates across it. Overall I like the knife - should be a good skinning blade, good survival piece - just needs a few changes.
The round hole in the blade is for extra control when using the blade for finer control and the hex hole is meant to be for the ferro stick on the sheath.
Enan, it is not, without popping it off the rivits you could not remove it. It is a flat clip that you would not notice if wearing as a neck knife and the clip works very well for in pocket or out of pocket carry. You could realistically “pop” the clip off of the rivits, but could not put it back on😔

Thank YOU 🙏🏼 🙌🏼💜✊🏼!!! I knew someone would know🙌🏼
@@JuhVons_Knife_Flickssure thing! Hey, what angle do you think this blade is at for sharpening? 20 degree angle?
Blade stool 😂😂😂. thanks for reviewing 🔥🔥
The hex bit hole in the blade is to remove the ferro rod.
Thank you!! It could also drive bits in a “pinch”, I would imagine? Thank you for watching and clarifying 🙌🏼💜✊🏼!!
Spyderco doesn't even offer vg10 for less than $90 for the most basic folder.
Is the belt clip removable from sheath in case I want to use it exclusively as a neck knife?

Here is an affiliate link with a bunch of pictures. The clip is hard to see, but image of “pack” shows it: amzn.to/4c1VkTG
@@JuhVons_Knife_Flicksit is removable. Very small screws. I removed mine as soon as I got it.
