Definitely a great non-transforming representation of Drift. I love the attention to detail of the sculpt but not only that, the extra little details such as transforming mechanism of the sword, extra parts moving/shifting when joints are moved, and the clean looking joints that hide the appearance of being toy/articulated figure joints. I know that some really dislike non-transforming Transformers toys/figures but frankly, I'm all for options. For those who want transforming Drift toys, there is a plethora of them. For those who want ultra detailed and articulated Drift, the Flame Toys figure is for them. Regarding the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party confusion, 3rd parties can be licensed OR unlicensed producers of products. As far as definition in the realm of commerce, the 1st party is the seller/owner of a property(in this case, Hasbro). The 2nd party is the customer/buyer of a product. The 3rd party is usually a manufacturer or producer that is hired by the 1st party(for example, Marvel(1st party) would hire Hot Toys(3rd party) to make 1/6 scale figures of the Avengers characters to sell to the consumer(2nd party). So in this case, Hasbro is the 1st party, Flame Toys is the 3rd party, and the consumer is the 2nd party. People often get confused with the whole "party" business. A common misconception among TF toy collectors is that an unlicensed 3rd party company who knocks off another unlicensed 3rd party's product is the 4th party but as far as commerce goes, there is no such thing as the 4th party.
Dan14thPrime yeah a hot rod/rodimus would be cool I wouldn’t have the money and or need to buy a expensive hot rod but hot rod one of my favorite autobots its probably his design when I watched the tf the movie in 2015 or something when I was starting to dive into other tf stuff sense I grew up with the bayformers and that still my childhood but yeah tf5 was the first bay movie I watched where I knew g1 and other stuff
I can’t wait. I pre-ordered him from the Flame Toy booth at TFCon DC which comes with the bonus helmet. Supposedly if you order directly from them online, the bonus helmet is available too.

incredible the feet movements. all TFs should look at that. Nice looks.
Looks awesome, but the fact that he doesn't transform is a deal breaker for me. I'm generally not into the poseable statues. Even the Gundam kits I collect are of the transforming variety, with few exceptions, and those are at a MUCH lower price point. A good deal for collectors that like these kind of non transforming figures though...
AMAZING REVIEW BEN!! I definitely WANT this more then ever now! The problem is it comes out around the same time as Sentinels Mospeada line. Maybe if I skip the hype of Power of the Primes toys and all the junk I'll just focus on good stuff in 2018. Anyways exceptional review buddy! 😉
Thanks Ben... good review. For the price point this is going for and the size as well as the fact it's non-transforming, it'll be a hard sell and would appeal primarily to hardcore Drift fans. I'd personally rather get a KBB Drift and customize it with LEDs and improve on bits and pieces... but that's just me.
Not saying that's a bad thing, though. He's already heavily inspired by Japanese tropes, being a katana carrying samurai and all, so it's fitting to also be inspired by Gundams.
Call me judgemental if you will, but all you "it's not a transformer if it doesn't transform" people are exactly why Hasbro and takara are resting comfy on their laurels spitting out kiddy dumb versions of official toys and milking you with lazy retools and recolours. Open your eyes people. Do you think this beauty doesn't want to transform if it could? It can't because Hasbro licensing makes it just that. They know there are blind followers who would still buy anything they put out as long as hurray it transforms!! They know other companies can come up with better designs, even transformable ones (you only have to look at third parties to see this) and that's precisely why they limit the transformable clause to only themselves. These companies with a proper Hasbro license pay a premium for it and try their best to give you the most badass robot versions with articulation and accessories Hasbro can't even be bothered to make, and all you can come up with is "does it transform"??? Wake up sheesh. Smh.
Exia09 how about you let people express their opinions? It's not like it effects you if people complain about something, And yes, you are being rather judgmental. Chill TF out.
I've bought extremely nice figmas and figurines for drastically cheaper prices then this guy... pass. If he was around 150 dollars I'd get him but not for 300...
Looks amazing, but at that price point not transforming is a deal breaker for me for a transformer.
Death By Snu Snu I know right! I'd never pay 300 dollars for a "Transformer" that doesn't transform.

Non-transforming is a deal breaker for me.
This thing is awesome. I'm just not into Drift. I'll take a mtmte Rodimus!
Man action masters have come a long way since I was a kid
Very nice.
If I could, I'd get one and one in greyscale, they both look awesome.
I can’t wait. I pre-ordered him from the Flame Toy booth at TFCon DC which comes with the bonus helmet. Supposedly if you order directly from them online, the bonus helmet is available too.
incredible the feet movements. all TFs should look at that. Nice looks.
Looks like a huge gundam, i love it!!!
If Flametoys make an IDW MTMTE Megs, I don't care if I sell most of my collection, THAT's a must have for me. This thing is cool as heck, though.
Just by seeing this amazing figure, I can't wait for their Tarn
Looks awesome, but the fact that he doesn't transform is a deal breaker for me.

At least we're getting a Wing figure sometime in the future...I think.
Hi Ben! I enjoy your review! So does this figure's leg get loose when you play?
The only non-transforming TF I would be keen on is a G1 cartoon-styled Megatron.
He looks amazing! I wish he was $100 cheaper, $300 is a bit too much for me. 😞
Mr Ch33seHed I agree, for $300 he should at least be transformable, that would justify the price a bit.

If they did the iDW MTME Drift, I'll get it, his new design in recent Comics looks bad ass asf
Though it can't transform , it looks very cool and amazing.
Thanks Ben... good review.

Looks amazing seen him in person at NYCC. Not gonna by a non-transforming transformer. Misses the whole damn point of a TRANSFORMER.
I don't mind the non-transforming part. In fact, I'm up for some non-transforming IDW figures just for the novelty of it all if nothing else.
Can't wait for dream factory's blackout
the insignia lights are better on the painted version? Because you barely can't see the Autobot logo after the lights are on in the grey version.
Why not make full on updated Action Masters? I'd buy that. I don't get the concept here.
Drift would be a cool as an anime character
You should try out Metal Build toyline mazinger z figure. Its really dynamic as well.
Can they do IDW Cyclonus next? I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
Who thought of a gundam warrior
I think he wore that cloak in his Spotlight issue.
Could you do a review of the ko mp Ultra Magnus from tf direct ? Great video by the way really like the cloak he has
A very cool Gundam figure.
Not saying that's a bad thing, though. He's already heavily inspired by Japanese tropes, being a katana carrying samurai and all, so it's fitting to also be inspired by Gundams.
Shinigami Customs shut 🆙
Why?
jarion Johnson you got burned
Looks cool, just wanted it to transform.
Hey man, which Hot Rod is that?
Looks awesome but I want a transformer that can actually transform
You lost me at "non-transforming"
Tef Tef same it's 300 dollars it should be transformable
Which Third Party Sixshot is that?
MrHusang23 Fuuma by GCreation
Thanks!
if a transformer doesn't transform, it loses all meaning to me.
I don't think I've ever seen Drift with a cloak or a cape on. Well, neither have I read the IDW comics much, neither.
I want Nightbird...
Totally lost my interest when you said non transforming :(
jesus he's expensive!
If this doesn't sell well, chances are they will cancel Tarn and Star Saber.

Completely Normal how about you let me express my feelings then? It's not as if it affects you if I voice my disagreement with them, chill TF out lol.
Exia09 I'm not gonna argue with you over this. Have a nice life. Bye.
I mean, MP Megatron at 230 and MP Dinobot at 250 are excellent counter examples to your point
A non transformable transformer? A deal breaker to me, I rather buy a lagends size transformers rather than this.
I've bought extremely nice figmas and figurines for drastically cheaper prices then this guy... pass. If he was around 150 dollars I'd get him but not for 300...
Can he transform? ?? Because you ditn show us
