Who else chuckled when he found the box containing the air for the expansion vessel?
You are as sad as me. :-)
Yes I did very funny. And the little accident was funny aswell. Thanks for videos H.G
@@liamcuzzy No Problem :-)
I would have asked who DIDN'T chuckle! You know, just for more laughs! ;-)
😂😂
I rate u 4 showing mistakes. That’s how we learn. We have and will do it.
Haven’t done one of these heat exchangers either.
Mint vid!!!!!
Thanks :-)
What’s more amazing is that you did it all one handed! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching it. 👍
Recently subscribed to your channel after watching one of your videos, on replacing a Worcester flow turbine, really helped me out when I had a to do the same thing for a client. Your videos gives me, a newly qualified gas engineer a whole lot more confidence in taking on gas repairs. Especially this one!!! Keep the videos coming, they really do help newbies like me.
Thats great. Thats why I do them. :-) keep at it and they will become simple.
Really good video mate! it actually shows you the complications and what can go wrong(which we don't see in other videos) and how to deal with it and learn from it. Keep it coming. Thanks!
Thanks. :-) I will keep them coming. :-)
I have just subscribed.. Love the dry humor in the videos. As a 26 year old Gas Engineer these help massively. Always nice to watch a master at work.. And like how you put in the not so elegant parts in
.
Awesome, thank you! I'm glad you like it and I think this will be my format for videos. This lock down has helped me get things done. :-)
From small acorns grow oak trees. A honest insight in to your own world of repairs. Bravo
Thanks :-)
What a spot on channel... salute from a NHS plumber. Thank you m8 🔧😁
Thanks. Just trying to help people up their game. :-) Make us all better.:-)
Good on you for showing the mistake, we've all done it!! As you say live and learn. Some people seem to think it's all so easy doing repairs then things like this make them realise its not so glossy and perfect.
Really enjoying your vids especially with wiring. Thanks from a new subscriber, keep up the good work.
Thanks 👍 I have more coming. :-)
Hi🙋♂️ I am trying to start learning about this type of boilers .
Thanks for your videos . It's very helpful
Thanks for that. Gives me a bit more confidence as a newby.
I never charged a customer for a part I misdiagnosed. Financial implications on myself made me learn quickly.
Good video mate am gas installer in Scotland don’t do much breakdowns but watching some of your videos gives you some good pointers that I have took into jobs so keep up the good work pal and stay safe 👍
Thanks 👍I will do. Thanks for watching. :-)
Another great video, someone like myself who struggles coming from install to breakdown at the minute your videos do help me , especially this one, and your right sometimes you have to crack and give it ago.
Thats it. The only way to learn. Don't pass on your problems to the customer though. A lot of guys try to. If you own your mistakes you will learn much faster. :-)
You can learn a lot from making a mistake when you aren’t busy denying them . Good on you for showing us that you do make mistakes after all we are only human. Great video always enjoy watching you looking sharp with the beard growth 😁👍🏼
:-) can't believe I can grow a beard. :-) Its how we all learn.
Good video, there is always something to catch us out in the plumbing game, as my old gaffer used to say you need the right bag of tools and a bag of miracles on all jobs you go to, wise words.Hope you're keeping safe and take care.
All good and they are wise words. :-)
Experience is worth a fortune in this game your learning all the time with boilers very good video
Excellent video ,I'm recently qualified gas engineer keep uploading many thanks ,and like you said if you don't make mistakes you will not learn .
Enjoy. watch the old ones. I have no time for new videos at the moment. Thanks for watching. 🙂
Im very impressed that you do everthing one handed!
Its a learnt skill. :-)
Replace main heat exchanger using one hand?? That's a cracking job, thank you for sharing. Always learning from you post. Keep up the good work; cannot wait for the next one.
Thanks :-) I have a ferroli one coming and a school one if I get permission. :-)
Thanks for the video mate. Really helpful. Did one today on systems boiler and forgot to connect the vent pipe on the condense trap point. 😂 Will have to go back again.
And I thought things could go wrong just for me. I agree with everything you say and you give me courage. Your videos are very good! You are awesome!
A big hello from Greece!
Zafiris
You are so welcome. Boilers can be difficult and be rewarding when you fix them :-) What is the most common brand of boiler in Greece?
1st Vaillant, 2nd Baxi, 3rd Bosch - Buderus Group, 4th Ariston, 5th Sime and then all the others ,we don't have some models and vice versa. All this after personal experience and only for natural gas. For oil burners and boilers is a completely different story. But I see that in the UK you have few oil machines.
I noticed that the quality of the video image lately is better! New camera?
Great video thanks for sharing the ups and downs of what can go wrong I thought I was the only one that had these scenarios
Glad it helped. :-) We all learn from experience.
Breakdowns are scary but I love these videos 👌🏽 I’ve done the odd bits and bobs but nothing like this
Very good video
Thanks :-)
I have been going out with my old man who was a boiler tech on BG mainly faulting and a bit of installs for 40 yrs, out on his own for the last 5. It’s bloody handy having him on the phone when I’m scratching my head at faults plus some of the little tricks too priceless. He pisses himself when I get stuff wrong. I had a boiler where I isolated the mains to it but only at the boiler while removed plate heat exchanger not knowing an upstairs shower had a fucked valve with mains cold back feeding only got a bit wet🤯. Lesson learned. Heating geek is decent keep up the vlogs mate.
I will. We all get wet. :-) Thats part of the job. :-)
Great video I'm about to get into repairs build my confidence up 👍
Great video. Well done for leaving the clip of doom leak in the video! Not many would have.
Thank you! Thats a great name :-)
Good job, I also repair boilers in Spain, from today you have one more follower, greetings from Spain
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching. :-) Hope your safe and well. :-)
I’m the same as you Oli second career for me jumped in with 2 feet made alot of mistakes at first but learnt a lot and every day is still a learning day after 15 years
We all do it. :-) Have to otherwise we would never learn.
These posts are brilliant!
Thanks. I have 2 others ready to go live. Tomorrow and Monday I think. :-)
Nice work. Fitted an Alpha last year, will never fit another one 😂. Your always learning in this game, always 🤙🤙
Except for the unusual pipe layout, they don't look too bad??
Brilliant mate. Much appreciated iv been installation last 15 years. Now I’m trying to break into repairs before my back breaks
You won't do it. Unless you do it. :-)
I hope you and your family are doing well, and top job.
Yes we are, Thanks. you?
Fitted hundreds of alphas and really rated. Never had any major issues over the years.
I like them :-)
Nice job buddy. Those clips are a godsend and a nightmare! Confidence also comes from just going full out and get stuck in.
If you don't start you will never
Thanks Ollie ...brilliant videos ....best on you tube without doubt ....
Thanks :-) Im glad people like watching them.:-)
Nothing better than a genius showing his mistakes 💦 shows us youre really human! Great vid again 👌
I didn't learn from a book. :-) I burned my hand and the carpet. I flooded the kitchen and the bathroom... Tripped the electrics lost the tools... Put the buckets under the dripping lights...All of it already happened to me. :-)
@@HeatingGeek awesome mate, I done my apprenticeship in installation so struggle with the breakdown/maintenance side so seeing videos like yours that explain and show in detail stuff we come across is absolutely amazing help, cheers for your uploads have a good Christmas mate🎄
Really enjoyed this vid ... keep them coming
More to come! About 20 still only laptop. :-)
Thanks as always Ollie, another great one👍👍. No Bullshit as always & I totally agree with everything you said.
Wise words mate & your skill, experience & knowledge shines through.
Every single day is a Skool Day, even for very old farts like me & that my friend, is why it’s the best job in the world.
When we were slinging in BBU’s back in the day & making serious money, we thought we were the Dog’s Danglers.
Squad of two, doing a Combi & 6 in a day, we were flying!! But, all that hard work takes it’s toll on the body & the big money is now got to pay for the ibuprofen etc etc. Thankfully there’s maintenance, repair & service work now.
Thanks again mate & stay safe👍
I used to do 2 BBUs a day for Haringey Council. They were heavy little things to drag around the builders opening. One of the biggest mistakes I ever made when fitting them was to paste the 1'' male irons instead of PTFE.... WTF was I thinking that day, I don't know. Only found out after everything was full....
Love your vids pls keep them coming
Reminds me of the time I went to change a plate on an ideal logic not thinking, isolated the cold and just went for it... it was piped backwards 😂😂😂
I have been caught out by that too. :-)
Well done mate. Good luck
Thanks :-)
You are brilliant
Really enjoy your videos.
My mothers combo boiler (valiant eco) on four different occasions has shown a F75 code and is only one year old.
I contacted the installers and told them i,ve had to reset it on the four occasions and given them about the fault code.
They sent a young engineer who just showed my elderly mother (92) how to reset it even though I had already reset it and it was working fine.
My question is i know the fault and the cure but this engineer took the easy option, in and out in fifteen minutes.
I shall however be calling the heating company and educate them on a lousy engineer.
Great video, keep it up !
this is a very good job I like to your work very much details on a thank you again.
Thanks :-) I like having the time to get these videos edited. :-)
Great stuff Ollie well done mate
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching. :-)
First comment 😆 you’re changing a lot ppls life!! God bless you
Thanks :-)
Full credit for not editing out the error!!
And not charging customers for your mistakes?
Sir.. your place in heaven is assured 😇
Top man!!
Thank you very much. We all learn from our mistakes. :-)
Great vids. Much prefer doing breakdowns than installs
Glad you like them! I don't do installs :-)
great vid like how you present it and top man for showing mistakes yes it is how we all learn and as you say we always remember them for the next one we do
Thanks 👍
Great video as always 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching it . :-)
No shame in learning from mistakes, thanks for showing the reality of the situation. No nonsense approach :)
The boiler worked afterwards too. That was the only worry tbh. :-)
@@HeatingGeek you did the right thing and dried everything up thoroughly, any hastiness and it could have been different
Good on you Ollie for having the Turkish cypriot flag in the back ground. I'm Turkish cypriot. Good honest video. We all make mistake. I did one on a diverter valve. Instead of pulling pin for the head I pulled pin for diverter. It got very wet.
Brillant, I have done that too. Cost me a PCB... ;-)
Great video Ollie 🔥, it's a learning curve bud. Forgot to turn off the mains 😂, it wouldn't be 1st time. 😂😂 the air for the expansion vessel in the box. Looking forward to next vid.👊🌟
Thanks. The next ones are not to far off. :-)
Another fantastic video like ure roll tool bags
Glad you enjoyed it. The tool roll is linked in the description. It works for me. :-)
Great advice as usual
Thanks :-)
Another great video
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching :-)
Great video. These are the things I’ll probably experience after my ACS😩
You will. :-)
Love your vids
Thanks :-)
Great video 👍 great advice 😁👍
Thanks :-)
Thanks for the video
No problem!
Bet that gave you a fright... great work yet again
It did. I wish the camera was on :-)
The last year or so I’ve gone from installs to more and more breakdowns. I’m not finding it too bad apart from my hands are often in the way as they are quite big, there’s always a tool that I could do with that helps better but you can’t have them all. Practice has improved my confidence as there was a time I used to stare blankly at them for too long 🤣
We all do that. :-) I have done it for at least an hour on a boiler recently.
Breakdowns are scary but I love these videos 👌🏽 I’ve done the odd bits and bobs but nothing like this
Very good video
@@hakimvlogs6579 The more you the easier they become. :-) Just do more
Every day is a learning day in life.
Don't get to shower in a customers kitchen everyday though:-)
Good video appreciate it thanks.
No problem 👍
As usual a great video mate
Thanks 👍
Nice one respect for that
That long pin holding return with mains,,kinda boby trap..lol indeed that is learning point from here too. Thanks again
Great video Ollie 👍 btw I've got a purple jumper too, just like yours. 😄
Im trying to brand without logos on everything. ;-)
brilliant pal
Thanks for that video mate, very useful, I’m just starting to learn all about it from the very beginning, you was highly recommended by Tina Barham. 👌🏻
Great to hear! Tina is a great teacher too. :-)
Great vid keep it up mate
Thanks 👍 I have loads more to sort out. :-)
thanks for good words, couse i have a lot of doubts since i started my new cariere...
No worries! Good luck with everything. :-)
Thanks for this vid
No problem. :-) Glad you watched it. :-)
Think you great mate ! air for the expansion vessel 🤣🤣 brilliant
:-) Im glad I left that in. So close to cut it out.
Had similar issues setting up gas valves sometimes they ok but when they not & it takes a lot of time to set up it it can be unnerving but experience as always can’t be bought after you done a few it becomes easier. Stay safe
Yeah I have done a few now. I still cant remember all the symbols and when to press this and that...
Great video, sorry I'm not a patron anymore lost my job! I will pick my self back up soon as this covid 19 has fucked off!! God bless you and your family Ollie 👍👍👍🇬🇧
Don't be silly. Covid is causing loads of problems. I haven't worked in 5 or 6 weeks. Its a bit stressful
Good on you for showing the FU. Good job you were not working on a ship system, similar (simple) mistakes have resulted in the near loss of the ship (HMS ENDURANCE) - safe to work covers all systems not just elec trickery ?
Well I can put my hand up and say I’ve forgot to turn the mains of once’s and never again 😂 it was a very wet Baxi duo tec !
:-) I wasn't working on the mains side.... As far as I knew. :-)
Or when you do isolate the mains and the hot and cold are piped the wrong way, stop cock under the wooden floor no access not that was a bad day
@@lami150sx Thats a good story a few months later though. :-)
Clipp of Doom 😂 great vids mate 👍
Thank you for your honesty...so refreshing when I feel surrounded by engineers who must have been born engineers the way they carry on and talk...again thank you for your honesty and support...great vids !!!
My pleasure! Every time we work on new appliances we have to learn. This is a clip I will never forget. The clip of doom will stay with me. :-)
Have u got a amazon link for the box of air for the expansion vessel pal could do with a couple of them for the van just in case 😂
Think they are all sold out :-)
He's a good lad, ain't he?
Great video as usual. 👍🏽 Looks like alpha have made a cheap cast Alu heat exchanger boiler to compete with ideal and now every other brand ! So I’m guessing every service requires to remove the flue collector and the boiler and burner to flush the internals of the heat exchanger.
Yes, I think every 2 years this heat x is meant to be removed to clean it. :-)
Snap, in so many ways. I thought the water everywhere was a laugh having been there done that, but the box of air was better still, hahaha brill.
Real life. Vessel air is a hard to come by. :-)
Top class !!
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching
The heat exchanger seems indestructible, were the waterways partially blocked? Could hexs of this type be reconditioned offsite - assuming sufficient money and patience?
Great videos keep them up. Anything on the baxi solo hea
Nothing yet. I had a couple on the Promax but the sound was really bad. :-)
hi i have the alpha e tec 28 fitted, ive got some knocking and i was wondering if you could help.
everytime it starts up it makes some clicking sounds usually 3 or more, but i think thats normal straight after there are 3 knocking noises that can be heard around the house. it also does the 3 knocking sounds everytime it shuts down. many thankyou HeatingGeeK
very honest mate
How we all learn. :-)
Thankyou 🕊️🌼🙏🏼
Nice 👍
Thanks . :-)
Where have you gone?? .. you content was 100% ..
No time at the moment.
your right baxi have a lot to learn about essential spare parts.... but worcester give you all plus a few you may not need...great vid, i also got wet once, what was the issue with that exchanger / manufacture fault or scaled up
It was blocked..... Apparently. I couldn't see a blockage but the boiler worked fine afterwards. I didn't diagnose this job. Just sent to replace the part for BG.
Made the same mistake once water poped on my face, I literally took a shower, it was funny so ever since I cut water when I need to
Another great video, thankyou. Why did gas valve take time? just interested
Good question! I have a video on setting them up. All the boilers with his gas valve take a while to set up. Baxi GA Alpha intec 2 and Warmhaus all have this valve with the same sort of set up. You have to set ignition , high and low combustion rates. But the button pressing isn't very intuitive and it gets confusing. Also you have to wait for the boiler to try and set its self up.... By the time you get to adjust the boiler is usually about to shut down on temperature... Poor logic in my opinion.
As long as you learn from your mistakes like we all do then you will be fine 👌👌
Thats it. Simple advise, but completely essential to improving your skills. :-)
Lol chuckled when he said ‘well that’s a heat exchanger’😂😂
:-)
That’s a lovely purple jumper!!. Being serious though top work as usual. As my old school journey man said.... you learn the most buy fuc##ng yourself rather than taught by me. Been there and done it with alphas, normally they leak when the water goes back on, not when your stripping them 🤣🤣.
That last comment made me laugh. :-) Mistakes are how we learn. Everyday, unfortunately. :-)
....Famous last words haha thanks for sharing
