Even SOF didn't have the luxury to get optical sights until early 90s, not to mention their early optical sights that attached to AR pattern rifles (like CAR-15, 723, 733, etc) were mounted on top of the fixed carry handle. There is no compact laser aiming module and the flashlight were mounted by ducktape. I can mention alot of errors in the cod cold war, but I'll leave the rest for you

Actually it was the Seattle police that got the call. For all they knew it was some sort of large smuggling operation and not a invasion force Also dialogue in game shows the military didn't know about how the Soviets got on the mainland until after they saw them getting off the ships

Ah. World in Conflict. It's rare to see and RtS where the dev paying much attention to the campaign, the story is one of them. Which is, for me at least, the trademark of Massive Entertainment. All of their RTS have a very fun and compelling story telling for their single player campaign. *Yes, that is the same dev who make The Division for Ubisoft. And no, it's not a joke.* ;)
The Divisions lost its theme since the day it has multiplayer server, what I meant is they try to attract the mainstream player like introducing emote, pvp, etc. The trailer should be how it meant to be, a co-op with main focus on side and primary missions, a little bit scripted or random events here and there would be awesome for the abandoned, cold streets of new york
Would actual U.S soldiers take over a Burger King if it's occupied by Soviets? Like is it worth it? Just out of honesty. Other then that such a great scene I will say.

As much as the cutscene of American soldiers fighting the soviets as a guy runs up a hill with an American flag is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. I still laugh pretty hard every time I remember that they are trying to liberate a Burger King.
I guess the main invasion was already in progress so the police got evacuated back to rearm and hold the line while the spec ops unit (the player) got sent in so they did but now it's too late to see the cops fight alongside them

the game is really good and is being sold complete on GoG alongside the Soviet Assault expansion it's a few missions scattered across the main game but the soviet missions are good the game is less than 10 dollars if i'm correct, really cheap and worth every minute onto it
What realy impressed me was the level of detail whrn you zoom in. Plus the story and way units worked.... Just 10/10 even if it wasnt entirely replayable.
This game was the best depiction of an actual invasion by the Soviet Union and they even made a campaign for the Soviets too so that you'd understand how they felt as well. They weren't just an army hell bent on domination, they where just soldiers fighting for what they believed in...

Well to be frank they didn't take the "whole" West Coast, just Seattle, Tacoma and other outlying territories in North West Washington. The rest of the West Coast was left untouched.
But anyway those were the initial forces with others being brought in after they established a beachhead. They also didn't take the whole west coast just Seattle, Tacoma and some of the country side. They got halted by what few actual army force where there alongside the Washington and Oregon national guards
I’m actually surprised they didn’t take more. Nearly the entire military was in Europe when the Soviets invaded America, and it’s not like what little military was left in the states can mobilize instantly.
Living just under 40 miles south of Seattle this would be practically on my doorstep. If they tried taking the Port of Tacoma as well I could literally stand on the edge of the hill in Bonney Lake and watch the fighting across the valley.

Neither the CIA nor the KGB were that good. Back then spy satellites had very poor camera quality and even then spotting even a group of ships out at sea would be extremely difficult with modern satellites. Also they are most likely having all their assets focused of gathering Intel on Soviet troop movements in Europe and finding weak points on the front line

It was intended as a distracted force likely no bigger then maybe 10k. Tho from the trailer it makes it seem as if we're looking at say 30 to 40k troops in which case NG and some mixed battalion isn't stopping that. However the distraction was intended to force the US into a peace deal. I think they'd have stayed way longer Hell China joins in later so yeah that Soviet force is gonna be parked there. And with the US Navy getting yeeted, there's nothing aside from maybe Japan's navy that would stop their logistical support. Realistically, that tac nuke is gonna fall on Seattle. And There's no guarantee the US wouldn't implode with 2 nukes going off on it's own soil. But alas great campaign. And yeah he was right to wanna pull out. Those soldiers would have been better used in Europe likely could have broken through.

if you look at this scenario realistically, the logistics of the soviet invasion must have been insane, no wonder why colonel Orlovsky wanted to pull out

It was intended as a distracted force likely no bigger then maybe 10k. Tho from the trailer it makes it seem as if we're looking at say 30 to 40k troops in which case NG and some mixed battalion isn't stopping that. However the distraction was intended to force the US into a peace deal. I think they'd have stayed way longer Hell China joins in later so yeah that Soviet force is gonna be parked there. And with the US Navy getting yeeted, there's nothing aside from maybe Japan's navy that would stop their logistical support. Realistically, that tac nuke is gonna fall on Seattle. And There's no guarantee the US wouldn't implode with 2 nukes going off on it's own soil.
But alas great campaign. And yeah he was right to wanna pull out. Those soldiers would have been better used in Europe likely could have broken through.
I wish they had showed the U.S. Military like this in the game freedom fighters, they didn’t show the Military once lol.
