Solid review, dude. I remember when I was first exposed to The Professional. I saw it back in 2000 when I was in highschool. And it blew me away. Everything from the animation to the soundtrack, to the story, and the action scenes really had me on the edge of my seat. And what really gave this movie its charm are the challengers who Duke faced throughout the movie. Like Snake, Gold, and Silver, who are without a doubt, three of my top rated characters. What separates this movie from the 2008 series, which came 25 years later, is that The Professional has tension and weight to it. In the movie, Golgo was in constant danger because of the threats he faces throughout. In some scenes he endures heavy injuries and comes close to dying. I actually found myself rooting for him hoping that he would survive. The challengers along golgo's close calls added tension and weight to this movie. And that's what made the movie so solid and so memorable. But you don't get that with the 2008 series, which despite its variety of stories, is mostly predictable and forgettable. To this day, The Professional remains my top favorite Golgo 13 movie, and one of the best products related to the series.
Of course it looks dated. It's from 1983 and has a visual style that has been missing for a long time. Cowboy Bebop was animated by one of the BEST studios over a decade later. Not really a fair comparison. Overall, it's a really jarring and haunting film but I enjoyed it.
Agreed. But you have to admit, for 1983, the animation from The Professional is wonderfully done. And now, 40 years later, it still looks awesome today.
Omg, those magazines days. I spent my allowance just to buy anime magazines spent time to read them in our toilet in school for hours. I was addicted to it.😅 thank u for bringing these throwback content.😅
And for the record, I agree that the computer graphics in the helicopter scene is pretty dated. The CGI really hasn't aged well. And it looks like something out of an old PS1 game. Even though this predates the PS1 era. But aside from that, I still think the movie itself is still pretty solid.

Bring back memories...I used to love Golgo 13 on NES. One of the first espionage / assassin games.
Yeah I do get that. I played it on an emulator on my phone. I bet it was better to play it on the actually console itself

Engratha de Ortiz oh for real? That’s so awesome! Yeah I’m wanting to do a lot of older anime so that younger audiences might get into them
