David Valdez Mike too.
That reminds me at the time when our DM revealed our evil employer who was evil, with the capital E, was evil. I kidd you not, only me and one other person out of a party 7 was not surprised. The other 5 said how was they supposed to know he was evil. The sarcastic lord Silverstein, who made us do sketchy missions, who repeatedly tried instill his family members in power, and slowly removed other rivalry families was evil. Just because the rivalry families were also evil and made deals with demons didn't neglect the lord was lawful evil. It was hilarious since our DM was so baffled that him being evil was a plot twist. He never hide it once.
“I didn’t know our dm was this evil!”

*Fools gold: civil war*
It hurts so much!
Maybe I'm looking too deeply into this...
Sips keeps a very wide, toothy grin throughout his psychotic break. It reminds me of that one thing about monkeys and apes how they bare their teeth like that in times of panic and fear.
In a way, Sips is losing his mind and he's terrified that he can't do anything to stop himself or help his friends.
Amazing work, by the way! Your visual story telling and recounting of this story is phenomenal! Also, Felix is a knife-twisting maniac (and one hell of a DM to pull off this level of emotion).
I find it the funniest d*mn thing that Gothi’s eyes just drift across her mask instead of staying in one place
When the DM takes your character sheet things get real.
Had that happen before. I turned into a werewolf. He let me have two actions into it. "you are filled with blood-lust." I chose to attack my brother's character (He was the closest to mine), and to yell "Stop... me!" and then he completed his transformation (I'd forgotten he'd been bitten several sessions ago) and the party had to subdue me. They did, and tied my dwarf upside-down and hung him from a tree until morning.
Wow.
@@WorldWalker128 you gotta see the positive. He had less hair asa werewolf, so less flees.
Does anyone else feel like Jack is the main villain of the story?
1. He stabbed Gothi, knowing full well that if he were mistaken about her origins he could’ve killed her.
2. He knew the functions of the mech dragon yet he never notified the party that it used the souls of people to power it.
3. He prioriticed the opening of an ancient (possibly dangerous) portal over the lives of everyone in an entire city.
WHAT THE ACTUAL F(quack) JACK?!
Yeaaah, I don't trust him.
Yeah that was actually like my first thought
Yeah. He knows more then he is telling the party. He is taking a big risk for a discovery. He knows what that portal is for and I don’t think he plans to share with the party it’s purpose until it’s already opened.
Eh I wouldn't worry about it
If he becomes a God from the power of the portal, just rol 20 on initiative and use the ultimate d&d player move
A long forgotten technique called "flip the table"

Kudos to Dingo for planning ahead and including this very little character detail (if you've seen the latest episode and come back you will notice it too)
“I Didn’t know our DM was this Evil!”
- Everyone who’s found out how evil their DM is.
It helps a little to always think your DM got this very evil part he/she normally never shows.
Our DM, who is normally a reasonable person, created a whole new spell not in 3.5e just so he could make a small darkness spell that could not be dispelled by any spells I had for the day. I think he just wanted us to stop relying on our early game Ranger sniping everything. xD
@@panicwithcompulsion Wouldn't a light spell just cancel it out anyway?
Seems a bit pointless to mod it that much to make it impossible to counter spell.
There's plenty of ways to get around parties sniping from a distance. Monsters appear from the walls/floor/air or teleport in or they're just a big horde moving quickly.
The characters are knocked over by a quake or the wind and attacked by local monster X.
The list can go on.
Don't see why you would need to bend the rules that much. But hey maybe your party was just outthinking the dm all the time. :P
@@Madhattersinjeans Idk about in 5, but in the version we're using (3.5e), light spells have to be of higher levels than darkness to counter it. It has some weird phrasing in the spell description that suggests that if the spell tiers are equal darkness wins. He made his darkness a tier 3, while all I had was a tier 0 light spell and a tier 3 magic torch. He modified the normal tier 2 Darkness into a tier 3 for a class that doesn't have any such spell. He basically gave a wizard Deeper Darkness when she should have only had Darkness available to her. I can see why it would be confusing though, how those spells interact is weird in 3.5e. I should have been more clear.
I would say that he was just tired of us all acting as supports/tanks while the single early game ranger was rolling ridiculous 45 dmg turns. Everything he throws at us, we just handle it in the same way every time. xD But that's just because 2 of us are heavy gamers and know how to make a good team comp and what is in meta.
I wouldn't have minded him bending the rules if he didn't quip that I needed to learn how my spells work. Like ye, I'm new to d&d, but knowing how to counter a made up spell is an insane expectation. I'm hella salty about that tbh.

When Dingo said “roll for initiative”, my heart broke a little. Gothi had to fight her friend, when she never wanted to do that.
Btw, this video is amazing and brilliant. I loved it. Thank you, Dingo.
Radiance Guardians I know right? Rolling for initiative is a familiar phrase to dnd players. And it can mean many different things. It can bring along a sense of joy and honor. A fun battle against an enemy you can’t wait to destroy! Or it can bring along a sense of drudgery of dullness as “yet another goblin hoard?” Descends on the party. But the biggest gut wrench of a punch? Roll for initiative against your friend. The one you have fought alongside many times before and laughed at the same battles and cried together amongst the losses. That roll for initiative? It is the spell tolling of the dead, but this time? It’s rolling for your soul
Well, even though gothi didn’t want to fight, she didn’t hurt sips (at least I think[I don’t know if the back of gothi’s spear has damage]) just knocked him away
