I'm not so sure about that. Against any other team, they likely wouldn't have pulled out five points, but the Blue Jackets are the undisputed masters of the third period collapse.

It's embarrassing that they only played one period. They could have blown the Blue Jackets out of the building but the lack of effort in the first two periods is why they end every season disappointed.

Yes the whole team sucked for 2 whole periods, but he could have gotten at least 3 goals on this game.
It's not ONLY Samsonov's fault, but he is at fault as well.

That game very likely has a much greater positive effect on this team than if they go out and win it 5-1 or some such outcome. It's a statement moment that wakes up every individual in the hockey world. Moments like this are extremely rare and are not easily forgotten. It won't take much time at all to forget the 1st and 2nd, but that 3rd period will reverberate decades from now.

I don't know if decades from now but it will certainly be remembered for the rest of this season. That third period was a real statement maker. I don't remember the last time the Leafs lost a game in regulation.

The comeback itself was exciting. Getting 1 point in a game against Columbus...not so much.

There’s been so many games over the past year where the Leafs are literally sleeping through the first two periods then they come out in the third like “oh ya, where playing a hockey game tonight” and absolute dominate. When this team decides they want it and turn it on it’s scary how good they are. If only they could have that mentality for a full 60 minutes night after night
@@kakarotblake No amount of goals is impossible for the Leafs to not comeback but they also suck at holding teams at bay when they’re up, its why they are on pace for most OTs in a season record.

got to give it to the Leafs man, not only did they come back to steal a valuable point in a tight Atlantic division playoff race where 1 point may be the difference in making or not. But they did it while sick as hell, the flu is running rough shot on the Leafs like a lot of those guys were playing sick, hell Sammy just getting back wouldn't be surprised if he still feeling it a bit, Knies is out, Reaves got hurt, they are down to their 10th Defenseman and literally just got sammy back in time for Woll to get hurt.

They said that Columbus had allowed 23 3rd period goals this year, more then anybody, but I never expected a comeback like this.
At this point i now expect the leafs to be down at any moment in any game, for them to come back in some way and either win or lose in OT😂
Atleast they got a point. Domi 0:27 and Rielly 1:10 sorely need work on their passing especially in their own zone. It could've been 5 - 3.
Turn overs were brutal but that 3rd goal was all Timmins and Sammy but 4 and 5.. Brodie literally rolled out the red carpet in on the 4th goal and then just screens sammy on the other. Man hasn’t been a top 2 defender since 2019 yet keefe is married to the pairing of Rielly and Brodie

Love that the leafs finally have that "We can always come back" identity this season.
I'm convinced. When the Leafs pulled off those OT wins vs Tampa in the playoffs, they made a deal with the devil. In exchange for finally getting past round 1, they are never allowed to beat any other team other than TB in OT ever again.
OT turns into basic basketball. Set the pick up in the high slot, get an open, shot or pass, and then score. Leafs need to know how to play against this and do this during OT.
That OT loss is on Domi...a minute into his shift he skates to the bench, then elects to stay on longer, 30 seconds later he's still stuck in his own end exhausted and the game is over.

Sammy couldn't stop a beach ball if he tried the whole team came thro but him. First shot on him in O.T. he dropped down leaving the top wide open & goal.
We have to get rid of Sammy there is a reason why Washington dumped him unequivocally.. He needs to go back down and we need to make Jones our #1 til Woll the Wall gets back..

Two observations, the first is trying to protect the most dangerous lead in hockey, a 5 - 0 one.😂 Second the Leafs' players all looked like they hadn't awaken from their mid-afternon naps. But wow, what a game!!
