There's things you wanna do if you're planning on long term storage with ammunition, i.e. desiccant packs, high quality ammo cans with quality seals, etc. I'm sure you know didn't notice it mentioned toward the end when mentioning 10 year old ammo holding its original value. Be good 👍
I’m a frugal guy but I have bought many things that I thought were needed or good to have but later I find out that they were useless purchases. I can convince myself that something is very necessary for prepping but it ends up being overkill. Fear and anxiety of “what if” can cause me to buy things that are not needed. I finally had to accept that I cannot be ready for every possible situation.
I grew up poor and homeless for a good portion of my life. I'm fortunate to be making good money now and will end up with three large pensions. I'm spending that shift. 😮
Hey 👋 brother, I started selling off my Man Toys that I never use anymore, Harley Davidson, Old Boat, 2 extra older cars I never drive anymore. Now going through my garage and barn to find Treasures someone else might need that i don't 😅. I still have backups for backups as I want to stay prepared. Going to use the extra money to stock up on Garden Tools, Freedom Seeds, Backup power supply, water filters and Canning Supplies 🤔.
Right , tools grow legs , so keep them safe. Actually it's a good idea to get spare tools because people want to borrow them and that's where you could have spares for bartering or lending out.
M.D. , I always enjoy your videos. Always solid advice. Even if you are covering a topic that I am already schooled up in, i still listen. After buying you books years ago, I came across things in your books that i hadn't seen. I'm old as dirt, 66, and just enjoy your old school approach. Keep it up. Great job, Brother. Respectfully, Crusty Kirk
You're just moving into a new frame. You're stocked up, and now you just need to keep up. That means keeping what you now have to use . To the fullest. It's not spending your money well. It's to save your money well. I totally appreciate it.
I spent $6000 on Amazon buying off grid power components. Really glad to have it now. I have the only wind generator in this community. My solar and wind system is going to last a long time. I built an 18 foot long greenhouse on the side of the barn for about $100. I scrounged up everything except some bags of ready mix concrete and screws. I made my wood stove out of an old sandblasting tank and a semi truck tailpipe that my uncle was going to sell for scrap metal. I make whatever I can and buy the rest.
Minimalists will be the first to make use of others, and expect to be taken care of when SHTF, especially when it comes to food. As someone who lives on a fixed low income, being a mindful and frugal Prepper, mitigates inflation and shortages, and brings security for the future. I eat food either grown in the garden or bought at rock bottom prices, almost everything else is bought used, but in excellent condition. It is smart to be selective when it comes to making purchases. Money saved can be used to pay for items which often fluctuate in cost, such as utilities and petrol. I prefer to be independent and resilient, good health is a priority. I won't be hunting any animals, but see nothing wrong in having the option to protect myself if and when necessary.
I’m debt free for the most part but my place looks like a salvage yard / auto junk yard/ hardware store / building materials/ goat farmer / gardener etc . I’m as cheap as they come . My truck is a 1995 f250 4x4 that I just fix when it needs it .
I started prepping about 10 years ago. Dave Canterbury, Corporal Kelly were my introduction. Just because I had no background or network to go off of when making decisions what strategy to use to accumulate preps, I wasted a lot of money on various things I didn't need, or were low on the actual priority list. But I have no regrets. I took a winding road to arrive at where I am at now; and it is a good place with a pretty good foundation built of prepping, military doctrine, survival, and I can safely say I am better off for it.
I see long lines of people wasting money on $15 woke ass Starbucks coffee and poisonous fast food every day. Save hundreds a month by cutting that crap out.
New cars are the one thing that get young guys in financial trouble , .and keep them in debt a long time . If you can stay out of car debt, and pay cash for cars it will be one of the best things you can do for personal wealth .
Almost everything I purchase is needed not wanted. I love tools and items that enrich my life and family. I see so many folks wasting money on things they don't actually need when I go shopping myself. Waste not want not is my moto.
Everything I have bought, I needed at the time I bought it. but most of the thing I buy are for my home to make it better or tool. I normally wait a year before buying anything. After a year if I still need or want it then I buy it. Nothing is impulsive in my life.
I'm often very confused about stuff vs no stuff, I mean I spend a lot of time struggling with that question: how much is enough? Since someone invented the bunny skin hand bag, and found they could now haul a spare stone knife and alot more raspberries, the question of need has been weird. Then we started setting in stable pads and someone invented pottery and now we HAD to stay at the pad because they weighed a lot and they were crammed with all the stuff we came to believe we needed. These days a person subconsciously wonders if they should bug in with all that pottery or if they might have to just grab the old bunny skin bag and one good spear and run like hell🤨
I love the silicon muffin molds. They hold their shape so I can put them on a sheet pan and cook any kind of muffin I want. From sweet to eggs and I don't have to worry about replacing them. I like my instant pot. It cuts the temptation to cuss peeling boiled eggs by a wide margin. I just bought a rice cooker today because I'm tired of fighting with it. I have a ton of rice. I needed a reliable way to cook it other them on the stove. I despise cooking rice on the stove. The Asians have some interesting recipes for cooking rice in a rice cooker and it's worth my time to learn how to cook it. That instant pot will be necessary for cooking beans that have been stored forever too if you want to be able to actually chew them. I also really love ziplock bags for mixing anything that needs to be poured in portioned amounts like pancakes or muffins because I can mix it in the bag, cut the tip off, and easily portion things out and not have a bunch of things that have to be washed to deal with when I'm done. That saves water and time. I have a washing thing that I've not even put together. It's in the garage just in case I ever can't wash laundry because I despise stinking. I'm not too good to get dirty, but I have to be able to get clean. I haven't invested in reusable pads because I know how I am about touching nasty things. That, I'll stock up on.
Someone I saw the other day suggested steaming eggs instead of boiling to help with peeling. I've not tried it but over the years I've gotten better at not having eggs peel badly. Maybe it's worth a try for you??
I live in a tiny home, with a wood stove. So anything I don't need is clutter and collects dust lol. But I will spend money on my garden stuff and pew pews.

Pray for Michigan! This state is crumbling! Gretchen Whitmer and others need to be locked up!
Great advice M.D. Thanks! Prayers and hugs.

My money goes 3 directions. Bills, investments, and offgrid supplies. Even with offgrid supplies I only buy what I really need.
me too but yikes it's expensive
My Father taught me with this one question....."Do you want it OR Do you need it...??" 2 totally different words......

I bet it is great to have the extra space too!
I agree with all you said today.
Words of wisdom sir, your wants need to be in line with your needs.
THIS IS WISE, REALLY LIKED YOUR ADVICE IN A PREVIOUS VIDEO ON STAYING HEALTHY...IT WAS GREAT. THANK YOU
Cant go wrong with tools, you have good advice

I am an essentialist. I only have things that are essential. I waste not water, food, utilities.
You have really good ideas

I'm working on mimalmism. Less is more!

A good farmer friend says this will be handy, even if I never use it..........he throws nothing away.
Great advice M.D.!!
good advice

you sound like me. At my old house I had 18 cars that I sold parts off of. Locals called me the country salvage, lol.
@ It’s true that Country Boys can survive !
Wisdom in these words.

Typically most people newly entering the prepping lifestyle are extremely wasteful and allocate their resources in the wrong areas. Good video
Bingo M D😊
You are very impressive and I greatly appreciate all the things you say and I am already on it just like you
I appreciate that!
I have way too much junk. It made me happy at one point now I can furnish my sons place
I see long lines of people wasting money on $15 woke ass Starbucks coffee and poisonous fast food every day. Save hundreds a month by cutting that crap out.
I agree
The more stuff you have the more you have to take care of. If I built a house now I would build one half the size I have less to maintain and clean.
Thanks!
Insect repellent, mix baby oil and dettol 50/50, spray on. Australia 🇦🇺

Great advice MD. Thanks ❤

@@michaelmartin4883 especially when you can find what your looking for
Unless you are fighting inflation 😂
@AntiFeministWoman4Freedom many ways to be,alternative thinking now society may frown upon your tactics but fit n fed is hard to argue with.
I am the same way. 55 years old, and I don't want the excess to store ect.
Backup generators car parts food fruit trees freedom seeds spare parts for lawn mowing equipment before you can’t get it

Ever watch American Pickers and ask yourself were did these people ever get all the money to buy all the junk they collected
I agree with you completely... except... I have a weakness for books 🙂
Me also, read on lots of topics.
I admire you so much!❤
I bought a wooden caufin sure hope I don't need it.
You will eventually...
Thanks

If you've got a pond , stock it with fish
Why stop wasting money when we already know its all gonna crash soon.
Like I said... Invest in things that retain or gain in value. Wasting money on crap that has no value is stupid.
Minimalist won’t last long 😂
Won't last long at what? Did you actually WATCH the video?
