Bjorling of the magnificent voice, which I've loved since a child. YOur interviews in English reveal you as a great modest exceptional person too. Thank you RUclips
Jussi Bjorling sets a standard for all others and the bar is high! I joined the Jussi Bjorling Society USA so I could share my love of this marvelous man with others!
So fortunate are we to have the technology to capture his voice and essence. I thought Domingo was the last word on vocal perfection, but Jussi is extraordinary.
There have been many many great tenors in the world of opera but Jussi Bjorling had a dimension all his own. I have heard an Italian film director criticize him for lack of passion but I put it down to a national kind of pride as few could match him. The emotion he could convey is remarkable.
Yes, Italians often think unless you’re jumping around hysterically, gesticulating and sobbing, then you’re not being passionate! Jussi’s Bjorlings voice was one of unshed tears.
Great......never seen him in colour before......heard him a thousand times but never sounding better.Superb job with all the restorations....really brings the past back to life. Jussi certainly makes it all look and sound so darn easy here.......that's a gift but few have!
So effortless, so flawless, so simply devine. It will take ages to get the chance to listen to a comparible god-like voice again. Many thanks for posting this precious jewel-gem of true belcanto.
Such a tremendous voice! He makes it sound so effortless. I know it can't possibly be as easy as he makes it sound. The sign of a master. What a shame the audio of the day couldn't capture the full majesty of his voice. It is already so divine even with the limitations of the technology of the day. I can only imagine what it would be like to actually be present when he, or any of the other operatic masters of the past, sung live. How much more incredible would they sound? Oh, well. Maybe in heaven, may we all be so fortunate.
Even more superb is Björling‘s FLOWER SONG from around 1938 where he does sing the written soft high B flat at the end of the aria which I never heard him do later. Björling could also have sung CELESTE AIDA’s final B flat in this manner on the studio AIDA recording with Milanov but was, apparently, discouraged from doing so which he later regretted so I heard.
Great singing is natural singing. The perfect technique does not show itself. Purity and simplicity of tonal emission. Today there is such forced, contorted singing, wayward vibrato and wobbling. Bjoerling has more in common with Nat King Cole than the ugly-voiced opera singers we endure today.
@@petercollins7848 Teachers are part of the problem, but I think the biggest one is cultural and aesthetic decadence. The great singers of the past grew out of a church/synagogue childhood where their first continuous exposure to music was Gregorian chant and polyphony, Lutheran chorales, or cantorial virtuosity. Today young people have no other touchstone but the aggressive nihilistic ugliness of contemporary pop music. They in a sense have been ruined before they ever start studying.
Jussy Bjoerling was an extraordinary tenor !!!
Get his name right.

THE tenor! The template against which to measure all other tenors.
He opens up my heart and shows me a glimpse of the sublime.

Pavarotti once said don't compare me with Jussi I'm only human.

No lack of passion if you're listening, not just looking.
Jussi no one like him! Thank you for sharing

This was from the Nov. 1950 Firestone TV show of course originally in B&W
아름다운 테너 감사합니다
meraviglioso!!!!!
Questa voce, questa voce....SEMPRE mi riconcilia con la vita e con la bellezza degli uomini che, talvolta, discende direttamente dal Cielo...
MAGNIFICO
He just seems to open his mouth and it seems to come out very easily
Voice like liquid gold. Jussi and Nelson Eddy are my two favourite singers of all time. I would love to have heard them do the Pearl Fishers together.
Now that would have been great to hear.
Jussi and Robert Merrill did a splendid version of the duet from Pearlfishers.
Magical !❤️
Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for posting this recording.
The musical architecture! Thank you for bringing Bizet to life!
Bizet is wonderful to listen to.and.Jussi.is outstanding.❤
Bellissimo!!!!!
Bjorling and Melchior - two unsurpassable tenors.
Thank you for this!
My goodness!! Bravo!!
Seamless velvet flow to the ears!

I agree, so much of modern singing does seem ‘forced’. Is it the lack of singing teachers who know what they are doing?

A milagre!
No question or "probably" about it. This IS from VoF.
Thank you!
Compared to Bjoerling, I’m just a lowly church tenor…

What a tragedy. All that magnificent talent and dead at only 49, of heart disease exacerbated by severe alcoholism.
Well if there is a tenor anywhere who has ever sung that better, do tell me who they are!
JUSSI for ever
questo è un vero tenore.
awesome thank you
