    I'm hooked on Victrix miniatures. They are gorgeous. I'm a 30+ year miniature gamer and I like these more than GW, Warlord, Gripping Beast etc.

    I love this kit! It has been so useful for Frostgrave and Rangers of Shadowdeep.

    For those looking for historical accurate. 90% of the Vikings had spears and axes - Long axes. Not a lot of them actually had sword or Chainmail because on how expensive they were. Usually rich Vikings where able to afford mail and helmets but swords where 70% always taken off fallen English men same with armor. Plus 60 or even 80% of the Viking warriors where usually Famers, and regular workers who went to arms to help raid and build their raid partys or armys so don’t be afraid or sad to add 60% of Viking looking hobos into your army’s mixed with 20% full chained Vikings and 20% half armored ones. The bases would look so much realistic and better then a full chain Viking base or heavy one. Those were un realistic. So just in case u wanted to start a historically accurate looking army go with that.
    But the most common weapon was the spear for everyone and if a Viking had a sword they usually used it as a secondary because axes and spears where so much more preferred and more powerful to crush skulls with Dane axes, hook shields, and pierce through armor with long spears for range. :) just Incase someone finds this useful!

    An assortment of Norsemen? Would you be referring to a smorgarsbord perhaps?

    So here I find myself looking up how to paint Vikings cause I won in a raffle the warlord games viking start and SAGA first edition. Seems easy enough to get them all painted. Gotta find more vikings to round out numbers. Come across your video and wishing I had victrix instead of warlord. Too many in one set to justify getting but eh, one day. See you had the Faunus and gasp! So do I from both kickstarters. Hello ally/ prey to be raided!

      The Warlord ones are a really good base for converting into other stuff though. They take to Frostgrave and Victrix parts reasonably well, and I'm imaging some of the Wargames Atlantic stuff as well.
      I may go download that new Chieftain and see about using some of his bits with those bodies too. I always seem to have those bodies laying around!
      And the Victrix kit really is a great one.

    Well for TTRPGs you could probably get away with using historical stuff for raiders, guards, bandits and all sorts of nameless goons. Of course depending on the kind of role that might be best suited for them.

    For anyone that has bought multiple sets of Victrix, I got a question.
    I went and bought the Vikings set, and looking to possibly buy the Saxons or Normans. I've noticed that the Vikings set and the Saxons are extremely similar. To the point of getting confused on what kit i was looking at. The command/specialty models are different of course, and the heads are generally different. However the arm positions mirror near exactly to each other and their weapons are the same.
    Is it smarter to just get the Normans, and later get the saxon's housecarl set, which is JUST the command/specialty models?
    I'm not playing any historicals so this is mainly for the models and enjoying the variety and customization of it.
    Thanks!

      I skipped the regular Normans and just got a Huscarl set. Not that I've built or posted them yet, mind you, years after their release.
      That kit just had cooler looking parts to work with. Like you said, the basic guys look similar enough to the Vikings- I'm not going to be too put off if I just substitute in a bunch of various Dark Age warrior ranges to suit whatever my current gaming purpose may be.

    That might be an odd question, but how similar are those Viking shields with Gripping Beast or Footsore Miniatures in size comparison? I would love to get of those Little Big Men Decals for my Victrix Vikings, but their decals on the website are way too pricey + shipping to my country. Getting other brands from LBMS would be a much better alternative IF they also fit the shields. For example with a little bit of trial and error I found out the gripping beast Norman transfers fit quite good on the Victrix norman shields and they cost nearly twice less :)

    • @ObscuritiesinMiniature
      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  Год назад +1

      That's an interesting question. I don't have any LBM decals, but I've been tempted too. I'll ask around and see if I can drudge up an answer, because I'm sure more than a few people would like a confirmation about that.

    do these come with bases ?

    • @ObscuritiesinMiniature
      @ObscuritiesinMiniature  2 года назад +3

      Sadly they don't. But I guess if that helps keeps costs reasonable and with the amount of figures in a package, I can't complain too much.
      Victrix do carry some bases though.
