This seems like a decent review. However, the variables changed as the paint changed. An entry level gun shooting low end paint versus a high end gun shooting high end paint doesn't seem like a fair comparison. Valid points were still made but I feel like you should have stuck with the CS2 and Spire throughout the whole process.
That's fair. But then people would complain that of course paint shoots well through a $1700 gun. I tried to show that the paint shot well through everything more than to directly compare and contrast the paint against itself.
I think you should have stuck with the force feed throughout too. My biggest pet peeve is cheap paint breaking in my halo b. It literally ruins the day if I have to pull that sucker apart at the field to clean it just to have another ball break in the loader from loading a pod or something
It’s a Gamma Core marker... there’s nothing entry about it. He should’ve used something along the lines of a real entry level marker. Maybe Defy’s D3S, Azodin’s Blitz 3/Evo II or Empire’s Mini/GS. That would’ve shown how low-end markers handle each level of the paint, and at which point you need to step up to a better marker that can handle the tournament paint.
I'm actually happy he switched up setups think about it like this a normal field for rentals are gunna probably sell level 1 and level 2 paint put their mark up on it and kids will have fun with their rental (low end gear) setup with cheap paint to help out cost. Most of us who use guns like dye macdev pe bl ect. are gunna wanna shoot level 2 and level 3 so we want to make sure they dont break in higher end equipment. If I'm budget balling I'll get level 1 and I know it will do find since its rec paint maybe one jam if that.
It's cool that you tried to show accuracy. You should put those circular targets on a speedball field at popular positions and see how different accuracy is between grades when you are shooting across field or from the back bunkers.
I miss the days when my rec ball field paint was Xball bronze... at the time I thought it sucked but MAN, compared to field paint now that stuff was amazing.
how can you compare the practice paint to the level 2 paint when you changed from an etha 2 paint to what im assuming is the .685 fl barrel. really all I wanna know is if the level 2 shoots straighter than the practice without having more random variables thrown in. I get trying to spice it up but it just mixes the results. side by side comparisons never hurt anyone
This test is all over the place, i wanted to see the sizing of all paint not just one. You skipped around on the different grades with : sizing, break test, guns, barrels, and hoppers. so either you use one consistent gun with one barrel or size with your freak kit like you mentioned. But you failed to even use.
I sized more paint but it came out the same. It got cut out because it was repetitive and the video got long. Testing field grade paint made for rentals in a $1600 marker seemed overkill. And shooting tournament paint through a rental gun seemed simlarly silly. It seemed more important to show that the paint designed for each application worked in each case.
PbNation Paintball when your testing paint to see differences. It seems more relevant to use one gun as a control to show ball quality differences. And showing how fragile of paint it actually is. And how true each ball flies.
The differences between the grades were pretty evident (and printed right on the box). And none of the Planet guns I shot broke any of the types of paint.
I used to play Airsoft. I got tired of the cheaters. People don’t have honor anymore. At least with paintball people can’t deny a hit especially if they get hit on the mask. (Please don’t aim intentionally at the face.) but face shots happen more than often.
Quality over quantity! Poor paint quality WILL ruin your day kids. Buy a half case of good stuff opposed to a full case of garbage paint- unless the field paint is actually decent. My field only sells 4 star $50/case and it's great!
KICKS_FOR_DAYZ _ ouch and marbs aren't what they used to be. I quit playing at another local field b/c they switched to marbs and charged a similar rate.
Michael D I would do the same but 70$-80$ for a case isn't worth it plus the field with Marbs has the best customer service and field layouts. But bast couple months I haven't had any issues with marbs as for last year they were terrible with dimples and deform, maybe stored wrong but huge difference
KICKS_FOR_DAYZ _ that's good to hear. Maybe their QC has stepped it up a bit or backed off production so distribution centers aren't holding lots of surplus.
I like this review it's unique on how there was a mark test on your equipment that was cool. But I do think there was some things that could be refinanced like only using one set up (I know you were going for a situational type of set ups) and have the paints side by Side and do a fill comparison and only do 1 pod of each level it was confusing on how there was 3 practice paints.but great video
@pbnation it's not a very good comparison if you change the factors for the different grades. You should have used the same gun and barrel for the whole test.
Any one know, is this paint easy to clean? My field always says no “oil based” paint as it’s hard to clean off the bunkers and makes a mess on the ground. Mainly interested in the tournament grade fill.
Would have preferred to see this test done right. A variable and a control make for a good experiment. I think most players wonder which is better are not planning on switching markers and/or barrels to match the level of paint. I don't think the tournament paint would have much accuracy coming out of a 8 inch basic barrel. Unfair this time, but thanks for the content.
PbNation Paintball Thank you for replying and clearing that up. I misunderstood the intention of the video. I was looking forward to a shooting comparison (w/ same marker barrel combo).
I understand where you are coming from. Comparing paintballs is difficult at best without a mounted marker indoors, thousands of rounds, and tracking where every single ball hits. Then the next problem is that the exact same paint can differ from lot to lot so there's no promise of repeatability anyway until you shoot literally dozens of cases to compare. And all that goes out the window if the paint wasn't stored correctly. I know this because I set up the only scientific paint test back when I worked at PMI when we sold more paintballs than anyone. Even if doing all of that was feasible, it doesn't always translate to the real world.
I think its great to review paint. But we dont have a view if the trajectory of the path. Put a cam on barrel to show path. So i take this review with a grain of salt. I also think you should try to minimize the changing factors(markers, hoppers, barrels) to give a better control of paint performance.
They aren't perfect, but they are pretty good for this purpose. Paint couldn't go down the size smaller and went down the larger one easily. Now if paint rolled down the smaller insert and got stuck in a larger one, I would have thrown out the test.
I’m late, but This was the most inconsistent video I have ever seen on paint. Honestly shit was chaotic. Should do a series playlist on the brand and test the different levels of paint in separate videos. I’d love to see that🤟 Regardless defy is great, and now a days a lot of entry level paint is really good. As long as you stray away from that oily paint from Walmart like zap and weapons grade you’ll have a good time.
Was there any size difference between the grades? Or did the grade 2 and 3 paints also run larger than we've typically seen in the last few years? I'd love to be able to run my .689 barrels more often. Thanks for the review, John.
Paint shouldn't be this expensive at all .. it's quite foolish in how expensive it can be ... high end quality paint should be 30 dollars or so ... not 70 plus dollars . Now that's just foolish
Be sure to read honest and real reviews of Paintball Sports on my blog before you buy. Go to gohonestreviews. com/paintball-sports-review/ Thanks, Osgood.
too many variables. stick with one gun and one barrel. what hopper you use isnt really important, a gravity fed hopper isnt going to break your balls if an electronic one doesnt. but a different barrel will have a marked difference on the accuracy of the balls. if you were going to change out barrels, you should have done the same barrels on the same guns for each of the paints. cheap paint with cheap barrel, cheap paint with decent barrel, cheap paint with great barrel. decent paint with cheap barrel, decent paint wi- you get the idea. The point of comeing to a video like this is to see wether or not it might be worth it upgrading the paint by itself, to see the differences the paint alone makes to the game.
The field I play at has D3fy and I've yet to see a good batch. The last tournament I played in we had to shoot it and the tournament grade was even garbage. Iv had the best luck with APX, The high-grade is a little brittle in the cold but it shoots so straight.
this paint is trash do not purchase it i shot each kind of it and it was absolute trash the only paint that was ok was the level 3 yet my field paint at my local field is a custom gi made to shoot about as accurate as 2&3 star still shot way better than level 3
Be careful not to put the silica pack in your loader but absolutely feel free to sneak it into your buddy's.
Hahaha, love it.
I miss the RPS bags with the twist ties for this very reason.
I was impressed with the D3FY level 2 for the price being $38 a case of 2k, Excellent review!
Where are you getting it for that price? I thought it was normally $45
Travis M. Ya bro I’d love that price I gotta know
where are you getting that price from?
From where
At first i thought those cases were big billboards
Yup, paintball is real big around these parts.

John have you tried the DEFY Tournament paint? (Red box)
This seems like a decent review. However, the variables changed as the paint changed. DEFY paint gets more brittle the higher the grade. So if it doesn't break the Level 3 tournament paint in a hopper, the lower grades will be fine.
I'm actually happy he switched up setups think about it like this a normal field for rentals are gunna probably sell level 1 and level 2 paint put their mark up on it and kids will have fun with their rental (low end gear) setup with cheap paint to help out cost. D3fy is great paint. We shoot it at all the AFPL's in the bay area. I definitely recommend it.
Christopher Eckhardt it does shoot great for afpl.
Christopher Eckhardt where at in the bay bro ?
where i buy it
More paint reviews please!
Did he just hit a fly 4:01
D3fy back at it again...
MOAR OF THESE VIDS PLEASE. Try other brands. We need more!!!
What is moar?
It's cool that you tried to show accuracy. You should put those circular targets on a speedball field at popular positions and see how different accuracy is between grades when you are shooting across field or from the back bunkers.
Awesome colors

I like D3fy never had a problem with their stuff
Ok now I know there's different paintball types
To many variable changes...

Why am I watching this I play airsoft
The Drawing Gamer you should try paintball. It’s fun. It’s like a cartoony version of airsoft.
@@veterandecanus6558 i dont play either

@@artyom2108 oh must just be your field at my field ppl are normally respectful and take a hit
This is very in depth. Great job!
There's actually more that I cut out because it was too long! I'll prpbably upload that later.
What size bore did you use to shoot the tournament paint?
Quality over quantity! Poor paint quality WILL ruin your day kids. Buy a half case of good stuff opposed to a full case of garbage paint- unless the field paint is actually decent. My field only sells 4 star $50/case and it's great!
Michael D that's a great deal, mine sells marbalizers at 65$ a case which is the least money locally around here
KICKS_FOR_DAYZ _ ouch and marbs aren't what they used to be. I quit playing at another local field b/c they switched to marbs and charged a similar rate.
That's pretty sweet. Local field to me, PBC, sells freaking GI Field for 70-ish after taxes.
Michael D I would do the same but 70$-80$ for a case isn't worth it plus the field with Marbs has the best customer service and field layouts. So what would y'all say about "X-ball triumph" paint, it's 35$ for 2k case, and I've heard it's actually decent.
Never shot it. Sorry.
It’s decent it has an alright fill I shoot it but only for practice
My friend uses that, for the price it's pretty good.

Scared tf out of me.
i guess i know what paint i need to be shooting now :)
Would you recommend shooting the level 1 practice paint through .690 bore
That bug scared me XD 4:01
Haha, me too! You thankfully can't see me jump.
Those poor leaves! R.I.P little leaves.

Buen vídeo
is the base hooper a good buy instead of the proto gravity hopper?
@pbnation it's not a very good comparison if you change the factors for the different grades. You should have used the same gun and barrel for the whole test.
Only if I was trying to compare them against each other. I wasn't. Their higher grade paint is definitely better.
What paint should I use with my spyder fenix?
Any one know, is this paint easy to clean? My field always says no “oil based” paint as it’s hard to clean off the bunkers and makes a mess on the ground. Mainly interested in the tournament grade fill.

Do higher grades of paint hurt less since they break easier?
Caitlin Spence yes
Definitely. They shatter sooner upon hit.

Is the tippman conus one of the best begginer markers?
They are solid guns for sure. I believe the TMC is based on that platform and I own one of those. I need to do another video on it soon!
A5 is solid, inexpensive, upgradable, and bullet proof too
I like conus
Not sure if freak inserts are the best for sizing paint. In the past the aluminum inserts haven't been true to size, but maybe the XL are made better
They aren't perfect, but they are pretty good for this purpose. Paint couldn't go down the size smaller and went down the larger one easily. Now if paint rolled down the smaller insert and got stuck in a larger one, I would have thrown out the test.
