All this lesson is a $1000 course here in my country, and they did this for 3 months, but for you, it's free and 60 minutes! Insanely good! I learn much more here in your videos than in my program I enrolled in at university.
3 years ago when I started after effects, I have been dreaming for a video this clear and straightforward to learn the software. And today im still watching it in 1.75 speed in case I missed the basics during my learning thank you ben you are a legend of this sport
thank you so much for this. finally I got a feeling of "this is just a beginning" and not "omg this is out of my league". incredibly well-made tutorial, and I don't think I'm the only one who is this grateful, you've made a lot of people motivated to become artists - RESPECT!!!
As an avid AE user with 15 years of experience in the backpack I just wanted to shime in a say that this is probably all of the fundementals you'd need to get started. This really incapsulates the core of what AE is. The rest is experimentation and creativity. Don't be afraid to experiment and replicate inspiring stuff you see! Excellent tutorial as always Ben, thank you for sharing!
I can say, as an art student that needs to learn a lot of software for animation and compositing, that I could barely move around the software 2 days ago, and after seeing this video while taking extensive notes, I can already experiment and make stuff, absolutely mind blowing
Ben, thank you for uploading this. I spent about 3-4 hours today just slowly going through it andg etting used to it. This is gonna really open up a lot for me in my creative efforts. I'm super grateful. I wish had money to give you.
Just Watched and followed Along for my first ever After Effects Project... I'm hooked! Thank you so much Ben, I think this is the beginning to something amazing. You are the BEST!
After Effects 2021 user here, I tried using the track matte technique for the first tutorial but it didn't work the way it should. I suppose it's just the differences between the software that we use (I noticed that yours is AE2023 while mine is year 2021). There wasn't a swirly thing in my Trck Matt except for the manual set-up. Turns out, I needed to place the video under the text and tell the track matt to "Alpha Matte" the text above the Video clip.
The same happened to me, although when I do what you did and tell the track to Alpha matte the text, it is only visible when the layer is hidden (eye icon off), meaning the "welcome" word in white is not visible. Then when I make the layer visible I can see the first part (white welcome) but the "track matted" part doesn't show, instead it the word remains white but with a black background. I've tried everything, this is so frustrating.
This is a great starter course for AE. Ben is very clear and strategic in his teaching style. So glad I found this video and got inspired to take his course for AE Motion Design which is just as good. 🌟
Oh Ben... Absolutely incredible. Thank you so much for your dedication to disseminating useful information, from basics to more advanced, in such a fun way for all these years!! Can't wait to see who else this will help and what will be created
I'm just starting after effects right now, and this was so helpful! Your style of explaining makes it so easy! Will be looking for more of your tutorials! Keep up the amazing work! :)
please never stop doing tutorials! 1. Your voice is soo nice!! 2. You´re really really good at explaining and i didn´t even got bored while watching this one hour tutorial without skipping a part
I already knew pretty much everything on the video (which I expected), and yet I still watched it all, without speeding it up. That's how good your videos are. Thanks for always sharing so much stuff ❤
I CANNOT believe this is the first time I've seen how a dynamic gradient/texture is made. Will be using that regularly in my editing. Excellent video!!!
Wow, diving into After Effects with your tutorial was an incredible experience! Your teaching style is clear and easy to follow. I appreciate how you break down everything, making it approachable for beginners like me. Looking forward to watching and following more tutorials from you - you're a fantastic instructor!
Thank you AE is so hard when you first star, it's really overwhelming. Most tuto I tried explained what each effect or each separate functions and possibilities and I much rather a simple overall I can follow along with. Thank you taking the time to do this !
Clear explanation, lucid execution. I went along and edited as guided in the video and I got ... well, friendly with AE. Many basic elements are introduced in the simplest way possible. Brilliant. You are a good educator, Ben. Very well done. Big thanks.
Thank you so much for the in-depth explanation on how to use the shape and masking tool. I had so much trouble with it when I first picked up after effects in 2019 because I didn't understand why I couldn't make shapes because the tool would make a mask and vice versa. Drove me nuts! Following this tutorial really helped me gain a lot of confidence in my skills using after effects. :)
That's incredible. Thank you. thank you. thank you. I am not so scared about motion-design anymore. I understand that there are so much things I should learn on my way, but I feel confident and inspired. God bless you
This is an excellent tutorial and really sets expectations about the quality of teaching we can expect from your full course. I like that everything was really clearly explained and in enough detail that I now know the terminology to dig deeper into these workflows. After Effects doesn't seem as daunting now and this tutorial has been really inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing.
Amazing hour! (Or actually about eight hours of pause and start as I worked my way through your brilliant introductory course.) This was my first experience with After Effects, but now I feel much closer to home in it. Thanks, Ben!
Thank you so much Ben, for this tutorial. As a person who is well versed in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator I found this tutorial easy to understand and great to learn as a beginner to AE.
as someone who has been scared and intimidated by AE, thank you so much for making this video! I learn so much from it and your instructions are super straightforward, and easy to understand! :)
Thanks so much for your insight. What a great opportunity you've provided to understand this software better and whilst it's still somewhat fast, you clearly cover so much content. Great stuff.
Damn Ben, the pacing of this this masterpiece is insane, clear, precise, and straight to the point. Thank you for catering this delectable piece of information to us peasants.
Oh wow! Thank you! This is an amazing introductory tutorial that is packed with really helpful tips. In three little different projects you explain a lot of different parts and different uses of After Effects. Your explanation is also very clear, direct and easy to follow. Incredible...
As a 10+ year Vegas user this easy user friendly basic features turns me on. I hate those crutches that i need to do in Vegas just to make some basic functions and specifically motion and key frames. At first I was afraid of this unfamiliar interface, but after your video it turns out its very simple tho. Thank you
AMAZING!!! Just followed this tutorial. I'm an Interactive Media Designer and I learned AE 13 years ago at my school, but never got the chance to work on this program for my professional projects at the agency I was working at. So I forgot the basics of AE and in an hour only, you gave me the tools back and it feels nice! Thank you!
@Ben Marriot, thanks so much for dropping Lesson 1 on to RUclips. I was able to follow along quite well and I didn't feel overwhelmed. 😊- I'm likely to pay for the 9-week course as a result. ✊🏻 Cheers
Oh man this was better than my graphic design education I had ( we also learned a lil bit After Effects but mainly though trial and error) I had a lot of fun following along. Cant wait to use those skills on my own projects.
Have a little comment for the algorithm! I've been playing around with AE for a bit now, but going back to basics to fill in the gaps (and trying to guess your next step to see how well I know the process) is helpful. Very simple and effective methods.
Thank you very much Ben, I was searching for that kind of video, i couldn't find any videos for people already familiar with editing softwares, but this one was perfect, not too much stoping on details and on layers hierarchy, straight up " you know Premiere ? That's how you Edit in Ae " thanks a lot again
As someone who actually lied about knowing how to use AE, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You're a real life savior.
Ha ha, me too!!!
praise
Fake it till you make it bro🤭
Faked it so hard I'm now the head of the vid department. What the fuck

Hands down the best AE tutorial ever! This video alone is why I will be purchasing the 9 week course!
This is the most straight forward tutorial I've ever seen... Kudos!!!
been searching endlessly on the web for a video, and thank goodness i found your page
This is the best After effects lesson you can find anywhere. I got so much out of it. I can't thank you enough.
Speed, explanation, everything- you're a great teacher! Thank you!
This is one of the best video tutorials - of any kind - that I've ever seen.
Really good tutorial. No unnecessary talk and repetitions. I learned a lot so thank you!
Keep doing what you do! Tutorial channels are the heart of creators ❤
Smart guys make it easy to follow and understand, like Ben.

i'm half way through and just wanted to say THANK YOU so much for explaining everything!
Ben is truly the GOAT for motion design
I'm so glad I've discovered you and your channel on my first day of learning AI. One of the best and thorough courses, in general, on the internet.

Best tutorial I've seen in RUclips, hands down. You made me want to learn After Effects all over again. Thanks so much Ben!
Learned more in this hour than the 4+ hours of Skillshare tutorials I've been watching.
Everything works as it should be and as complete beginner I'm capable to understand every step without making a mess.
Adore your content, so clear and easy to follow. Basically ASMR of tutorials. Love it.
