For fun I ranked all 73 smiths songs in order... this always comes up top. Knew my partner was the one when on our first date he informed me this song was a cover of an Elvis song- it suddenly all made sense. He proceeded to bring me coffee the morning after in a Morrissey mug. There we are.
@TheWoodIsPoo Hey. Thx for sharing, I never knew this song. I just have it a listen and it was very fun. “I never knew I could wake up feeling bored”. I will show it to my fellow Smiths fans ASAP. X
It's such a great live performance, but it's a shame that the early performances of this song lack the coda/bridge of the studio version: "Scratch your name on my arm with a fountain pen. This means you really love me."
Of course Elvis is much better. It's his song but what a beautiful little rendition and merge with Rusholme Ruffians. And I thought Morrissey did it justice as well
After our sad loss of Andy Rourke, many are citing Barbarism Begins At Home as his genius, but my personal favourite is this. RIP Andy x
F***ing perfect transition!!!
that's because musically it's the same song

@TheWoodIsPoo bit of a stretch. I gave it a listen and it sounded nothing like rusholme ruffians. It was so bad 😂
Superb. Cool homage to Elvis and then goes to a new level
Funny Bones 143 just discovered this,it's a belter!
The greatest rock n roll band ever .....Manchester so much to answer for .....

What? F-ck off you knob. This is poetry.
Yes it’s such a beautiful line
I was very fortunate to have seen the The Smiths in the Caird Hall Dundee Sept ‘85. I was a teenager then still to find my path in the world.
So perfectly evocative of a certain time and place, and a total Britishness, adore this song.
Possibly the best story told in a song .
This is my 1980s summed up in a song. I can relate to everything.
What's the story about? I still don't get the lyrics lol
@@matiasgonzalez5053 really?
Beautiful, rendition, and tribute to Elvis. Awesome mash.
This is why the smiths with stray cats even coming from 3 decades after the 50's are rockabillys favourites!!!
True. Rockabilly revivalists!!
Very impressed with the sound quality, As are the cops they've been by twice to tell me to turn it down.
johnny marr! guitar genius
AD L... god
marr = god.
Liam Gallagher: "Johnny fucking Marr?, is there anything he can't do?"
Love the call and response at 3 minutes: Call: “I might walk home alone”, JM response: jangle jangle jangle X 3 - so great!
One of the few Elvis song i like and the Smiths do it (or use the chords)
Great to listen to this on the birthday of the King! xx Wonderful...just wonderful
