Been on that one and the Kirkfield lift-lock also, I'm forever captivated and in awe of the the amazing work that was done over a centuary ago....totally appreciative of Parks Canada for their efforts in maintaining these wonders of technology and the pride they show in the preservation of history for future generations to marvel at 🤔

That lift lock and another similar one on the Trent-Severn Waterway west of Peterborough were built by Dominion Bridge Company Ltd., probably the premier structural and machinery engineering firm in Canada until its demise. Many bridges, the reconstruction of the parliament buildings in Ottawa, and New York sky scrapers, were built by this my former employer.
DB was a great company to work for with top notch engineering and manufacturing know-how, where I learned much.

Hey new guy here. I don't know why I'm just coming across your channel now. I will definitely be going back to watch previous videos and catch up. I can't believe for the life of me why you channel hasn't came close to the attention it deserves. This is our back yards it not hundreds or thousands of miles away. Sure you have the Hoover dam ifel tower you know the famous places and people forget that we have things like that and sometimes alot better not even an hour away. I just finished the video about the kirkfield lift and it has got to be one of the best videos I've ever seen in the genre. I know that I'm only one nobody guy but I will definitely be sharing your videos to anyone who will listen. Be prepared for your channel blowing up no wait going viral is the lingo used these days. Ya I'm older than dirt and not up on all of it. But I definitely know a good video when I see one. So ya please be prepared I have 2 really close friends so I can count on them showing some love to your channel!!! Oh yeah did I mention that I have a F ed up sence of humor. 😜On a serious note you really do have a great thing going. I'm glad I came across it and I will definitely support you in any way shape or form. I'm a 30 plus years as a heavy truck mechanic so stuff like this is right up my alley. See you in the comment section of your next video 👍 Actually see you in the comment section of your older videos 😂. Till next time always remember to "Keep it rubber side down" 10-4 there driver 👍 cmon 👍🇨🇦🔧

Nice project. Western is one of our clients - we’ve done pipe stress analysis work for them on many projects over the years going back to the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport Pedestrian Tunnel project.

Thanks Deniz, Western is a really great company to work along side of. We've visually documented many of their projects over the years. Stay tuned, there is another video about to be released. paul

I should have mentioned that I took a fleet job to wrap up my career and wouldn't you know it it's a fleet of mixers. I'm going to guess your video came up because of "Concrete" I mention that in alot of my comments. 👍🇨🇦🔧

Both lift locks were built without rebar, but have a high limestone and sandy cement.

I wonder if they re-torqued the bolts after the first 100 km of use?
