I worked for Toronto Water and shut the water off for quite a few demo projects did in the city . Priestly is a real good company with good staff and family working for the company . And they work safe ,not like some of the other crazies out there ,that kill people bringing buildings down
So clearly you're lying because they're owned by GFL and the many many of the old employees left dye to the changes for the negative GFL made. Nice story though Walt Disney. Also they didn't demo any if the Don in the video just the Toronto jail lmao you really are clueless
Outstanding video! I really appreciated the thoughtfulness and planning applied to this job, prior to demolition. So many “lesser” demolition companies just want to smash and go, Priestly, obviously, is much more methodic and professional about the process, proving they were perfect for this project.
Make people in government housing feel even worse than they do already. Some people didn't grow up with a silver spoon or even three meals a day. I grew up in Regent Park. If there was no government housing my single mother would have been raising two kids on the street. Where did you grow up? NOT IN HOUSING THATS FOR SURE!!!
Wow.....what a bloody dump......I was there in the '80s.....you had to be sure your blanket didn't touch the floor or the mice would get in your bed.....
A lot of history ther that don jail I remember back in the day the don jail lots of guys I know went ther for a bit should go downtown and you could get a layout from some previous tenants lol
All that sadness and misery that was in that building. Now the neighborhood can be like any other neighborhood. Let the light and warmth and hopefulness flood in.
A guy says " You are now incarcerated " !!?? As a door slides closed in a cell in " Cell Block 3 "...…… Not ONE of those people have ever done a SINGLE SOLITARY day of INCARCERATION in the old DON JAIL. This writer has been ( on several occasions ) an inmate in that particular jail. Grown men crying....Screams at night...Clanging of steel on steel.....and the ever present jingling of keys. Now THAT is actually being INCARCERATED !!! This video represents a major milestone in Canadian history and should be treated as such. Oh and HAPPY CANADA DAY 2020 !!! ( P.S. And if those walls could talk you would run for your lives)
@@ConcretePicturesInc I worked with a guy at Toronto Water that did time there also when he was younger .. His mother would buy him a new pair a running shoes and the older prisoners would beat him up and steel his shoes every time . The he would have no shoes to wear .. bad place to be
I did the old Milton Jail. 1854 and 1877. I have the door from the gallows for a coffee table. The building is now their Town Hall. It took us nine months to underpin the building. We were looking for the four men that were hanged with the Ontario Museum.
Lol theres nothing loose for you to use weapons. If these guys only knew how many guys got beaten close to death, stabbed and faces sliced open in the don. We had a copper named bell that was selling razor blades and buck knifes to us in the early 2000s.
Fill it to overflowing with the fake BLM savages that are just looting, burning and killing just for kicks. Even that would be better than they deserve!
This should be shown to all those who spent time behind bars there. It would likely be Very cathartic for them no matter whether they were guilty or innocent. Time in such conditions should be considered criminal in its own way.
@@AnthonyTolhurst-dw1nc Try doing ONE FUCKING DAY in there !!! From the sound of it You wouldn't even be able to handle the intake process let alone being incarcerated !!
As a x-con this was a relaxing video...PDI is seriously well organized
Was in there in the 90's
Dang those beds.
what a job! that must have been really hard to do with all that concrete and steel!
would of liked to see the finished project..
its just grass now
Winter? I'm sitting here in Winnipeg and I haven't seen any winter in this video yet. Nice fall weather maybe😅
It was like minus 40 that year
@@JackReacheround great name BTW😄

stopped there many times on my way to other ontario jails ,if only those walls could talk
isn't this the jail that had the last hangings in Canada?
You got to worry why anyone would give this a negative review???? Well done vid! Enjoyed it!
Those stainless steel toilet/sinks would be perfect for government housing, and those solid steel doors would sell out to drug dealers in no time.
The flush great but are cold as fuck flushing in the summertime hahahha. If ya know ya know🤣

I used to work at the jail. Sad to see it go down but it is definitely a building to be left in the past
My aunt worked there for almost 30 years. Some of the stories were hilarious. Some weren't so much. She worked in receiving.
Another interesting video on Demolition. you folks do some real interesting jobs
Why do they keep saying they’re demolishing the don jail when it’s the Toronto jail they tore down? The don jail is left standing no?
they mean the additions. they are leaving the asbestos in the 1861 section

Actually one of the workers from Priestly Demolition who was helping to tear down the Don Jail did do time there a few years before.

Priestly uses so many regional strategies and "phase 1 phase 2 phase 3" you'd think they are reopening Ontario after COVID.
That was very cool.
Just curious but is the place haunted now even though it has been replaced by the hennewick hospital?

That's a fact.
Priestly should have bought some houses on that street. They are worth a lot more now.
makes u think.............how much blood was spilled in that place
That 700 Volvo is sweet
Where’s the asbestos containment?
Cool video, maybe I’ll change careers. Lol
Day after day how about 5 months
This is called hunting for abatement extras! It's how that low bid becomes more tolerable.
They always called it " the new side"..... new in 1957 more like.....
Priestly? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA PRIESTLY!?!?! YEA THAT'LL DO. HAHAHAHA
I can see captain Blair Smyth crying over this demolition
you thought a building that old wouldn't have asbestos?
Dont like to go to jail? Then do not commit criminal acts you doofusses...! Good Demo Job!
not everyone in jai commit criminal act jail is for awaiting trial and minor crimes.
These guys got the best job in the world.
Porly ventilated .?
Gotta knock it down before it becomes a heritage building too.
Report showing no signs of asbestos but unfortunately load's? So QUALITY of UK reports is JUST CONFUSED AS 🤣😂😅!!
As a kid growing up in Ontario Housing the Don was home away from home.....and the hole? Forget about it......beancake for supper and crabs......
Neato
DON jail not a fun place it stay did some time there back in the day.
Andy you spent more than life in there. Is this why you retired.
