Lots of famous stores in this one including Dillard's, Waldenbooks, JCPenney and Footlocker.
At the food court we get to see inside a Chick-fil-A (our second one) and how they make those yummy waffle fries.
This video last around 14 minutes.

I miss the mall life of the 90s.
@Mark Meadows So do I ☹
Malls. Blockbusters. Theatres. There's no reason for any of them to even exist anymore. Theatres are still, somehow, holding on but it makes no logical sense anymore. We had a theatre down by the McDonald's. Showed all the new releases, was always packed. But then one day not so long ago they just tore it down and put up an apartment building. I didn't even notice because by then I had high speed internet and didn't need a theatre anymore. I used to go to the mall, now I just ebay everything I want. And I can see out of my window right now a family video that's been closed and abandoned for 2 years now, slowly rotting away because no one wants to invest in my neighborhood. There's also a gas station across the street from it abandoned and for sale and an old building that's been abandoned since the late 80s when it was was a liquor store and there was a mass murder there...... wow, this got dark quick. Sorry.
@@Anarchist86ed That's the crappy world we live in now
@@flutebasket4294 everything is so simple and easy, you get everything right at your fingertips without even having to leave the couch and you'll never have to interact with another human.
@@Anarchist86ed lmao you eBay it. I wonder how much weight you’ve gained since
Sucks that those of us who grew up in the heyday of malls, the 60s-90s, didn’t really appreciate how much simpler life was. It wasn’t perfect, but if I would have known how things were going to be today I would have appreciated it more. Not just the malls but life in general. The 80s and 90s were fun decades to grow up in.
The absolute best of times.
We NEVER appreciate life as it happens 😒
Life is only going to get worse. A hell lot worse.
i def appreciated it. all through the 90s i felt something magical about malls. especially during holidays. i get depressed when i walk into malls now. so many stores closed now. and gettign worse. just dont have the same feeling as it did in the80s and 90s.. id give anything to go back. i feel vaporwave music and culture has boight that feeling back somewhat. i listen to it while walking in old malls i grew up with that are still around here in miami
💯
People making eye contact, observing, aware…no cell phones….bliss!!! I miss the 90s so much! Great channel
I was a teen when this was filmed, we got by just fine without phones. I’ve noticed a lot of young people get very uncomfortable with direct conversation. Hell, even old people too. People walking on busy city streets with their face buried in their phones. What a strange world we live in now.
People are still aware it’s just that majority aren’t
@@mplslawnguy3389yes! I see people of all ages look and give off nervous energy when talking in public now. It’s like something changed in them.
Its considered abnormal to be aware nowadays, they might think youre up to something but really youre just minding your business. Its very twisted in todays times.. but you cant let that fool you.. be observant be kind and thats it no harm done lol.. younger crowd of today just need to grow a pair.. we're all just wanting to be around and talk whats the harm in that?
I experienced the 80s and 90s, two of the very best decades. I feel blessed and am so thankful.

A lot of my fondest memories took place at the mall in the 90's. I was a little kid then but I remember spending the day going to the mall with my mom and my grandma. They would take me to the Disney store after we spent the day shopping in Macy's or JCPENNEY and I would pick out a toy and then we would head home and I would pass out in the car. Thanks for these wonderful glimpses of a greater time in life.
Comments like these make me happy 😀
Life can be awful or joyous...sounds like you shared your world with joyous people.
Same. My mom used to drop off me and my brother at the local mall all throughout the 90s. We used to chill at the food court and there was a comic book stand where they sold cigars and soft drinks where's I would always get an arizona tea before heading off to Barnes and Noble to check out some magazines, mostly about military history. Then, when we were done shopping, we'd just walk to my grandparents' house, which was just a few blocks away.
I'll never forget those days.
Uh yeah I was more or less the same only with the Warner Bros. store.
I used to steal at Macy's as a kid. 😂
Little things, but it was still sin. 😮
My wife worked at the Chick Fi A in the mall in early 90s and a said that if she closed was able bring sack of those waffle fries and chicken nuggets home for dinner. I worked at sonic in the early 90s and loved messing around making crazy drinks and shakes for myself and friends
Idk how or where you got all this footage but, since I found your channel I’ve been using it to help me fall asleep at night. This type of stuff is such a vibe and most of it a blast from the past from my childhood. Thanks for all you upload, my friend.❤
Vintage 90s Chick-Fil-A action...YES!
We didn't get Chick-Fil-A here in WA state until 2015. 🤦
I thought my eyes were deceiving me 😮
We've had a Chick-Fil-A here in CO since the 80s but there was only one that I knew of, in Cinderella City mall. Now they're everywhere.
I was just born when this footage was taken. The 90s were something special. I'm glad my childhood got to experience this wonderful decade.
I see Peter Griffith in his younger years walking around...
🤣
Now we know who the corn dog pyramids were for.
The 90's were the BEST of times!! I was age 11-21 throughout the entire 1990's and lived the best life. Everything was better then. I remember going to the mall on the weekends with my family or friends or being dropped off. Good old days!! I want to go back 😢❤
I know, same here👍🏻✝️
Very good times!!
Yes bro
Yes best days of my life
I was ages 7-18. I had to repeat 12 for some reason. That’s why it’s an 11 year gap instead of 10…
Theses time capsule videos are real treasures. I love how they captured our everyday experiences. We had no idea how special the 80’s and 90’s were when we were living through them.
My favorite mall activity in the 90s were the ARCADES, man! They made a trip to the mall feel like you were going to Disney World. The "oohs" & "ahhs" from bodies huddled around cabinets like Mortal Kombat II or Street Fighter; players unleashing combos & Fatalities...the social aspect of it all, I miss 😩
The next favorite mall stop would be those cozy little trinket shops with fall & christmas figurines, model train sets, candles, & other seasonal goodies. Those were a whole vibe & smelled the BEST around the holidays!
Last I checked, I don't even think those type of shoppes exist--or at least not to the degree they did in the 80s & 90s
The Arcade was a magical escape of light, sounds, skill luck and endless hours of fun and the pursuit of the fabled "High Score" on your favorite game.....or any game for that matter
I still remember my local favorites. The one inside the mall was called the Purple Room (yup it was all purple lit). And the big one on the outside of the mall was just called The Game Room. It was HUGE and had roaming workers ready to give you quarters 😂
Breaks my heart how in the near future machines will take over everything . Life was so original back then. Everything feels SO artificial now a days 😔
You'd be lucky nowadays to have an actual human take your order!
Gen Z will never understand the old world. I was born in 92 and remember the 90's/early 2000's vividly. The country was united, people were sane. There wasn't all this hatred like today. My sister and I could sit in the car while my mom shopped and nobody would bat an eye. Wish those times would come back 😥
i remember the mall was the only way to get chick fila back in the day
Yes when I saw one outside a mall I was shocked
I graduated in '94, so this brings back a ton of memories for me, spending so many days at the mall!!! Amazing videos, thank you!
I’m class of 94 as well. I can’t believe it’s been nearly 30 years !
Those corn dogs looked Amazing!!!!!
Funny how I am heating up some frozen corn dogs in my air fryer as I’m watching this!
Take me back to the 90s! I was a kid but I need a do over , I didn’t know so much would change ☹️
Same.
Who would've thought that Chick-Fil-A only served fries back in the day😮
Love it chick -fil- a good food.
Not sure if you're joking. They had sandwiches
😂😂😂😂😂 I was thinking the same thing.
Plus the generous portions...what happened to that
Now they serve trans and lgqtv
0:14 - Back in the late 80's I had a bunch of sweet-ass oversized shirts from J. Riggings to go with my tuck-and-roll pantlegs. That was some sweet-ass New Wave look I had, and all of the girls in their United Colors of Benetton sweaters and outfits from The Limited loved me.
We are all nostalgic for the 90s but in the 90s all we could do was think about the future and what the world would be like post 2000.
no one walking around in PJ's head to toe tats & piercings purple green hair....
When I found out we were going to the mall or a mall I'd never been to I'd find out if there was an arcade so I could hang out there while my mom shopped. Miss the 90s.
By that, I assume you mean you'd look them up in the yellow pages and call them on the phone 😅
Seeing the flannel hoodies over the t shirts brought back memories. I dressed just like that in 94 and miss that look.
If you miss this, then go to the mall and interact with people, save the malls from dying
simpler times when people did not live on their phones and actually went outside and did stuff daily!
I really hope this channel is backed up on a Google drive somewhere. After losing btma5 Im scarred to loose such great archive footage to bull shit youtube copyright again
Keeping it on the same service (Google Drive) runs the risk that they could shut down the account and the drive too.
Fun to imagine each person, about 30 years older now.
Edit: just saw that man go up the escalator. He’s prob like 117 now or 119.
For those who are watching, this was actually Eastland Mall that was located on Central Avenue and Sharon Amity Road in Charlotte I remember it well because Eastland Mall had an ice rink that was on the bottom floor center of the mall. It was a beautiful mall until crime started popping up in the early 2000s forcing many stores to close. Sadly, this mall was demolished in 2010. God, how I miss that place😢
And who would’ve thunk it….putting corn meal on a hotdog? Pure genius. 🤣
Still one of mankinds greatest inventions....
So weird to remember a time without cell phones.
I got by just fine without them. Had a healthy social life. iPhone came out when I was almost 30, and I wish I had never got one.

Great video! If you happen to find anything from the old Carolina Circle Mall in Greensboro, North Carolina that would be amazing. It’s not there anymore but when it was there at one point had an ice skating rink inside.

This was the Year before I was born. Thanks for capturing of what it was like to go to the Mall in the Mid 1990's!
Peter Griffin in a Chris Chan shirt. Gotta love it
We’ve got a mall around where I live that’s just about as busy and looks about like this still as it was when I was a kid. Many malls have closed slowly over time but these still exist. Food courts, escalators, Spencer’s, Hot Topic, Zumiez, now there’s a Tesla store inside there, Apple Store as well. Can’t forget Macy’s. The only thing missing is a SEARS store at the far end of any given mall. That’s a relic now. Lol
Whoaaa I don't remember chick-fil-a being around till the late 2000's
Guesss it depends on where you live. I'm from TX and we has it in the mall. They only had sandwiches and fries back then
I'd been going to the Chick Fil-A at the mall in Fredericksburg, VA since I was little in the early 90's.
I seem to recall recently seeing a thumbnail for a vintage Chick-fil-a from what looked like the 1960s. I sort of assumed it had been around a while in some parts of the country but didn’t get to other parts of the country until much later. I’m from Massachusetts and don’t remember when Chick-fil-a came here but don’t remember it in the mall in the ‘90s. Of course when I went to the mall food court, fried chicken wasn’t my first choice so it could have been there and I was oblivious.
Chick-fil-A started in the 1940s
I had never seen one til like 2007, but it also may not have expanded to my area until then.
The guy on the camera must really love him some corndogs
And waffle fries. Completely ignored the chicken sandwiches lol.
Ahh man, I want waffle fries so bad now! Lol
Is it just me, or did Fast Food taste SO much better back in the 80’s & 90’s?!?
Good days, Tupac , biggie & Selena we’re still walking this earth during the filming of this video,
Those were the best days!!! Chick-fil-A only sold waffle fries at the time? And the Corn Dogs just sat under the heat lamp?! I sure miss the way back when’s!!!

Why is everyones temperament so calm. I was born in the 90s and I was hyped lmao
People did seem more chill back then
I guess everyone is just going to ignore the elephant in the room regarding how much more civilized "we" were then.
In 1994 that I had been in a mall in Gurnee Illinois called Gurnee Mills or even another mall with my sister that was called Lakehurst when I was living in 1994-1997. Only once that I rode my bike towards Gurnee Mills. It was very dangerous for me. I thought it was safer at that time. I remembered seeing a thunderstorm coming when I was riding my bike home. Once I got back inside of my apartment. It was a downpour outside. I had my bike inside the apartment once it stopped raining. My sister wasn’t working and was out of the town. It was early July 1994 when I did it. At that time that I didn’t have a driver’s license or a car to drive. We got the apartment and it was so close to my job in a grocery store near it. I even walked towards my job or rode my bike.
Gurnee mills was huge! I heard Lakehurst was gone. Not sure. Was there 1992-1993 for the Navy. In metro Detroit now. Is Gurnee Mills still around?
@@christinesommerfeld9815 Gurnee Mills is still there. It used to be an outlet mall in the 90's, not sure if it still is.
1994-1997. Now those years were TRULY pure 90s.
1994, age 22. The Food Court at the Moorestown Mall was my favorite. Thus mall had the fountains, trees, comfortable seats, and a few birds flying around eating crumbs on the floor. This one had good food and better atmosphere. Now it hardly has anything (Sbarro Pizza, subway, and Saladworks are long gone).
Dang I wish I would have cherish these times more
I used to work in this mall at the "Jamba Juice". I had the best bowel movement summer of my life in 1989. It was literally mind boggling how consistent I was. I owe it all to the Juice.
With the ice skating rink on the bottom floor, I'm pretty sure this is Eastland Mall which has since sadly closed and been demolished. South Park Mall is still open but never had an ice skating rink.
‘94, Senior year at West Charlotte HS. How time flys. Haven’t been back to Charlotte since ‘96.
I thought this mall looked familiar! Brings back memories of my high school years!

Gosh the memories from childhood
Of course they show a humpty dumpty looking guy going to food court :3 and its very cool seeing footage of Chick Fil A as early as 1994. I know they were around as a franchise since 1986 but I never saw footage of one prior to 1999-2003.
Those baggy clothes. Man I remember that era
Look at the size of those fries, and the generous portion, today you get 6 little fries and small chicken sandwich for $10 + $3 For soda. 🤪
I thought we figured out wearing gloves is a good idea when handling food in the 90s...guess not 🫠
🤣🤣🤣
Probably wasnt enforced as much yet
Germs didn't exist back then. It was a better time
MOST people knew to wash their damn hands, before and after handling food.

That looks like a really nice mall.
why is these times so much better than today can someone tell me??????????????????
I suppose we had naive hopes for the distant future, that pulled us along in a particular manner.
Those times were much better in a sense that people Feared God more, How? Well The Commandments of God were taken into consideration and people tried to live by them. Let me give you a couple of Examples, You should have no other gods before Me (God) Jesus Christ, another Example, You should not steal, You should not fornicate, You should not commit Adultery, You should not bear false witness, You should not Covet, You shall not kill, Honor thy Mother and father. These are mainly the Commandments, Remember The Pledge of Allegiance, One Nation under God? When America decided to remove God (The Bible) which is The Word of God from the schools, What Happened after the Colombine Shootings, schools are now more than ever targeted, you hear alot more violence now. How about abortions, many young girls getting pregnant and not married killing their babies. How about Marriages? One man, One Woman, but now, man and man, woman and woman, Do you understand how far Society has fallen for their own demise? This is why our Nation America has fallen, and people don't even think about it, they are so deceived by all the lies now. America has fallen because she has said in her heart, There is No God. This is why America is in this situation it is now and as a Nation, I don't think America will rise again as a Great Nation because she has lost her first Love, God.😢 But their is still hope for anybody who Turns back to God, Repents from their wicked ways and seeks God for Salvation. How can you be Saved? The Gospel is (Good News)It's God's Plan to Restore humanity to Himself, So what did he Do to Restore humanity? The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Remember that I gave some Examples of The Commandments of God? Now in Romans 6:23, it is written, "And the wages of sin is death" What does this mean? It means that in which ever way you committed sin then there is a consequence to pay and that is death. In Romans 5:8, it is written, "But God shows His Love for Us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for Us." And going back to Romans 6:23 it say that, "And the free gift of God is Eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Now How can humanity be Restored? Here it is, It takes Faith and How can you Attain it? Faith comes by hearing and hearing by The Word of God. Last but not least, In Romans 10:9, it is written, If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your hearth that God raised him from the dead, You shall be Saved." And not only that If You Believe what Jesus did for you to pay for your Sins, the moment You believe He (Jesus) will Baptize You with The Holy Spirit and He will be with us to Comfort Us, To Counsel Us, To Guide Us and to Correct Us and he will make Us A New Creation. So what are You waiting for? Don't wait till tomorrow to make that choice because tomorrow is not Promised, You don't know if you will be alive tomorrow. Believe Jesus He is the Key, only He can Restore humanity and the earth. Jesus is The Way, The Truth, The Life. Believe, Believe, Believe and Convert to Christ but if you decide not to, then there is only left Eternal Torment. God does Not Condemn us but our unbelief will condemn us.

All of these old videos none of the fast food workers wore any gloves or hair nets. It was gross then it's even grosser now.
How is it grosser now? Every food service job I've worked in requires handwashing when starting the job, after breaks, and after restroom visits. We also must wear gloves and hairnet/beardnet before stepping into kitchen. My jobs required me to change gloves everytime I walk to another station. It's a lot more sanitary now.
