    I made an engine sled on wheels that you tie the bike to a bench like your trailering it. slide the sled under and screw it up to engine, put some mounts on the front and rock it out. Makes it a piece of cake. I was able one time, timing myself from running engine, to engine out of frame and jugs off in and hour 115 min. While you have the engine out, might as well add some real ponies to it with pistons and cams.

    Hey dude my son whom im very proud of being a self taught shad tree kid . Helped a friend with his 1100 sabre. Ok to the chace . He put all new hydraulic lifters in well after he got it all back together. Still making same noise . And on top of all thst that on the front cylinder top right. That little round plug thing blew out . And suggestion on what that tick noise would be after replacing all of them and that lil round plug thing thats just above the spark plug on the front right. .

    • @MotoMedic
      @MotoMedic  4 года назад

      If he didn't make sure the shims stacks were back in the bike the same way it could make noise. If the bike has too much oil I've also heard it can make noise due to air bubbles in the oil from splashing inside the case. It's hard to say from here just on what you've said, but these engines can be tricky in how the valves are adjusted.
      Mine had some ticking when it would idle but when I rode it it was fine. It ended up going away for the most part. I sold the bike last year.

    • @MotoMedic
      @MotoMedic  Год назад

      I believe I did have to remove them due to clearance issues coming out of the frame. It's just easier when there is as little bolted onto the engine as possible. I'm not positive if it can be done or not... I typically never try because I'm usually pulling an engine to do some major work to it anyway and removing everything I can prior to getting the engine out makes things simpler.

It fixed what I was trying to fix, but now I seem to have a major leak from the cylinder head gaskets, which are old.... I do not have the tools to remove and replace the engine. The leak is new, after putting everything back together. Is it likely the leak is from somewhere else and just looks like it's from the head gasket?

    • @MotoMedic

      Only thing I replaced was 2 of the engine mounts. If the rubber is still good and you're able to get them out intact they should be good still. I had a couple that were pretty shabby so they got replaced. That's it! I used the same exhaust gaskets because they were also in decent shape.

    So I am removing my 2007 Sabre shadow 1100. In the front cylinder there has been a ticking. Have you come across this problem . A friend of mine says it is the valve is stuck open . ????
    M

    • @MotoMedic
      @MotoMedic  5 лет назад

      Ticking and knocking are two completely different sounds. Make sure it's not a knock! The 1100 Shadow engine is a hydraulically adjusted lifter for the valves. The likelihood that you have a valve stuck open is slim to none. It would run like shit and not be rideable. A ticking can be normal on this bike depending on mileage, how full or low your oil is, and how many miles are on the bike. There are small shims that are in place to keep the lifters at the right spec but can need adjusting sometimes (reshimming).

    • @MotoMedic
      @MotoMedic  5 лет назад

      Ultimately... the ticking you're probably hearing is due to small bubbles possibly getting into the lifter area. I had it go on with mine sometimes. Stoplights at idle after coming to a stop I'd notice it most.

    • @isaiahsimpson5531
      @isaiahsimpson5531 5 лет назад

      @@MotoMedic thanks for the feed back . It's not a knock though it is most definitely a ticking. I drive my bike to and from work . And as you said at a stop the tick is loud at a stop .
      But as the last ride from work the bike would barely go over 50 ...and ran like pure shit like a twist of full throttle and would cut in and out on firing .... Like a ratattatt firing .

    Honda told me 1k to pull my engine and fix the valve cover leak :(

    • @MotoMedic
      @MotoMedic  2 года назад

      That doesn't make any sense. That would mean in order to do a basic valve adjustment you'd have to pull the engine and that's just not true. The valve cover has to come off to get access to check the valve clearances. They should only have to pull the tank, airbox and throttle bodies. I'd get a second opinion.
      If you had a head gasket to change then I could understand the need to pull the engine. Can't get the cylinders off without doing so. Sure it's a valve cover gasket and not a head gasket?

    • @shanehubbard649

      @@MotoMedic tbh im not exactly sure as I am new to bikes but right above the spark plugs there looks to be a circular plastic piece where the valve covers are.
      It's leaking from there.
      Not too bad though. Doesn't even drip.
      They told me the frame doesn't allow clearance to reach it through the top?
      So they have to slide the engine out sideways.
      I posted asking if it was true in my FB honda group. Alot of people saying it is.
