I would love to a see a machine push the stone out many times and then test what polishing the ice actually does. I bet it has no affect other than adding to the drama.
@@robjohnson8861 This is the most ignorant comment I’ve read in a long time. Sweeping heats the ice creating water on top of the pebbles on the ice causing less friction this allowing the rock to run straighter and faster. Literally a two second google search could have told you that. Or had you ever played curling you’d be able to see for yourself it actually has a large impact on the stones.
@@JCtheglazier Please show me your google search where a machine repeatedly launched the stones and x number of times they went so far so they knew the machines potential. Then show me with the same settings and sweepers to show me change. That should not be hard at all to test. Think about pinball pusher. It adds fun to the curing, that's all.
The teamwork in curling is nearly unbelievable. I find myself often admiring the brushers more than the shooter. The footwork alone as they have to avoid tripping over stones while brooming is amazing.
When younger just seeing a video clip of curling would put me in a catatonic state. Fast forward to the past two Olympics and now watching this Rachel Horman compilation? I so love watching hockey players of super star material scoring unreal goals. I put Rachel Homan in that same category in her sport. She is simply one of the very best shot makers in women's curling, if not the best, that I have ever seen. Well done Rachel and your team in winning the Worlds this year.
Welcome to the world of curling! Rachel’s been curling since she was like 6 if I recall correctly. Olympic medalist. Very talented player and she makes some amazing shots - perfectly curled rocks, bounces off guards to take out opponents rocks.
Rachel Homan ...........let's be honest .........we love you! Your drive, dedication, laser focused on very difficult shots, your steadfastness, and discipline for the sports has only pushed every curler to strive. Thank you for being you! Be great! Be awesome! Be Rachel!
Her eyes🤯…wow! Such fierce concentration and clarity. I don’t understand the sport at all, but I appreciate skill, talent and commitment when I see it👍
Have you watched Lawn Bowls before? It's basically the same from what I can see, just on ice. Basically the most balls/stones you can get as close to the middle as possible, the better. Points are scored for each ball/stone you get closer - BEFORE the closest ball from your opponent. So your opponent can have 1 ball right in the middle and if you have 3 balls a little further out, even by an inch, it doesn't matter, your opponent gets the 1 point for having their ball the closest. If you can have 4 balls closer to the middle BEFORE any of your opponents wider balls, then you score 4 points. Crashing your opponents balls out of the way or out of scoring positions is a tactic. It's a fun game to watch. I tried Lawn Bowls once, it's not as easy as it looks, it's very easy to over bowl it. I have never paid much attention to Curling as I am from Australia, we don't have it here, but this was exciting with the calling out of brushing instructions. If I'm completely wrong on the rules, someone will correct me I'm sure.
