In this talk, we explore fundamental and practical concepts for incorporating the Firmament of the Fixed Stars into your astrological and divinatory tool kit. Together we take an interactive tour of the constellations of the night sky, dive into the mythos that shapes their meaning, and explore the underlying philosophical worldview that informs their use.

Yess!!!! "How I've resolved that tension (zodiacs) in my mind". After doing Western astrology for 30 years, and then switching to Vedic Sidereal 10 years ago, I see that BOTH zodiacs are important, because it is a play of light and shadow. You need to use BOTH tropical and sidereal to see the full picture, folks! Plus, the Moon chart in the sidereal; this in particular shows the shadow side and will tell you things that were previously hidden to you. I've found that tropical is great for seasonal stuff, such as gardening, etc. The sidereal is better for transits, because that's where the planets really are from our perspective on Earth.
I have found the same thing! They all have their place.
Technically the full picture would require the 36 decans and the zodiac of the Chinese as well as the Arabic lunar mansions. It is an impossible task to "see it all" lol.
I would even say to really know you know you would create a system of your own from the ground,feeling out the truth of things through a few years of just paying attention to the actual movement of the fast planets through the stars and through everything that happens, taking meticulous notes and trying to grasp it from before another has formed their opinion, then you will be on equal terms with the gurus and you will then know why it is Said one thing by one and another by another...
@@MeSaytan The tropical zodiac was never meant to be used alone. It was stolen hy Alexander The Great and brought back to Greece, who in turn created Western astrology. He stole it from the Persians who used the sidereal and tropical zodiacs together with the comets and asteroids. He created colonizer astrology 🙌

Part way through but just wanted to jump in to say thanks so much for sharing your research and understanding with us Spencer! Also want to give a shout out to Bernadettes work and recommend that you pick up a cheap PC if for no other reason than to run her program; you won't be sorry. The stars came to life for me recently as I sat through her course and the testimonies of the participants attest to the validity of her approach. Think I'll also look at the conjunctions of elliptical stars as well cause that makes sense to me. Either/and/or, in my opinion the fixed stars have been unfairly neglected to the detriment of the art.

In reading a John Frawley book i heard that Fixed Stars are a very important testimony in horary astrology. Your video honestly makes a lot of things clear from an astronomical point of view.

Oh my, I feel I have to share my fixed star conjunctions now. I have my Rising (and asteroid Psyche) conjunct Pollux at 23° Cancer. My moon is 0° Gemini and conjuncts Atlas. My Sun is 11° Cancer, 2 from Sirius. My Chiron is one degree from Rigel exact conjunction in my 12th Whole sign house and I've had a foot problem that needs a surgery for like 20 years. 😅 This is a really great video.

How come there is no mention of Right Ascension (Equatorial Longitude) which is what astronomers used to locate and track celestial objects.
There are astrologers that work with Right Ascension that include Philip Sedgwick, Robert Hand, and Kenneth Bowser.
The late L. Edward Johndro worked with Right Ascension, and I have his book on fixed stars that includes his working with Right Ascension conjunctions.
I actually work with Right Ascension.

very impressed!i do a lot of star work almost all my lat, degree, so much to learn!i have a good history and mythology back ground, and i started casting nativities at 4 years old, so i always understood the importance of stars,but some star casting gets confusing, I like Bradly also ,but you explained things so clearly in a few words, that it got me to understand what she was on about a lot better! i go through an incredible amount of harassment, bugging, gas lighting and hypocrisy, i hate gobbley gop, you are very clear and precise, very nice!there is a book i would add to this list, i have always went by Potolomy for fixed stars, but the John Anthony West book, 'in defense of astrology,' although he does not focus son stars is a very nice book.i use Sabin symbols, Marc Allen Jones and Isabel Hickey a lot. thanks for showing us your book list, it helps! i do creative writing, stories ,shows, songs, shamanism and spiritual work withstars alot, very white light, the key is always honesty, i try and warn folks, that do darkness and lies it will come back on them and destroy themselves, with torture and bugging they are not only hurting me but with global warming[my phrase, 1973] the entire word. they have destroyed so much of my life but they have destroyed their own lives and prosperity thoroughly! that is the beauty of the star power.i wanted a more though look at he fixed stars i would like to hear your work on that. you are a good astrologer and i don't give praise lightly, so glad to find you! my new work is all hard science, i created renewable, cheap, safe energy and and because my life is violated with illegal bugging and plagiarism, i can't YET publish,but my the world needs it. in this time of corporate greed and government and religious whoredom, it is exciting to see people turning back to the study of the stars, always know, 'first do no harm,and the rest of that mantra, is those that do harm, the harm they do, will come back on them 10 x 10 to the tenth power, 'hurt the good is a total failure!'but the star light teaches us so many wonders! ever want a reading on rigel conjunct your Venus, just ask, it is an interesting placement, and can be used for real good!to survive and have an economy, freedom truth, restitution, to Roberta May Hope Caster, [aka Bobby Galileo, juggler of extraordinary reality] and my kids,Hope under torture, and that is all too real, but it must change, thanks for the really good walk through the stars! journey with purpose, none violence and honesty, HOPE Caster

what orb would be given when conjunct our own planets.
Hi Chris, it really depends on the particular star. Brighter magnitude stars have an orb up to 2 degrees in my experience and sometimes color an entire decan. A good rule of thumb is about one degree on either side though. : )

The trouble I'm having with using fixed stars is trying to understand how reports based on Brady's calculations (which I find odd to require specific software) could possibly be different from interpretation of degree based on projections to the ecliptic.
What approach do you feel is most beneficial for newcomers to this process?

A challenging debate for sure with passionate proponents of both methods. I personally use projected ecliptical degree, but know a number of astrologers who do great work with Parans. Ultimately I think astrology is divinatory in nature, which means that multiple omen systems could potentially deliver truth. ✨🕊✨
@@SpencerMichaudAstrology that's a great point regarding these things divinatory practices. My knee-jerk reaction is anything requiring a proprietary system / software that's not common is suspect (Brady's school / software). If our ancestors were able to do it w/o her software - I'm trying to figure out what she's calculating that's different (not a question directed at you, just framing my logic of questions). I need to look up that Anonymous paper and read their logic - my general take away is they argue against projected degree method for stars outside a certain distance away from the ecliptic. All fascinating to ponder about! I appreciate your approach, matches my ability to explore every rabbit hole. I'm pretty sure you & I both enjoy video games the same way - spending ungodly amounts of time exploring every nook & cranny of the map - Zelda or Diablo destruction of social life and burning too many hours 😂😂😂

Wow i'm leo asc too, and the same, i accomplish a lot, then i rest pretty much too.
Amazing work.. but the firmament can't exist with the concept of globe or planets
of course we are not on a globe.
Astrology is the best. Astrology i think is above astronomy and geometry and logic and rhetoric and every one of the 7 liberal arts in one system. And you can limit yourself to one system one thing and knowing that and then you are practicing something else. Astrology includes these 7 arts, it is more accurate I suppose to say that Liber Arts was taught by the stars and is still being taught from the first teachers.
Beautiful presentation despite the cringey and nonsensical spherical earth model whereas the theory of the celestial spheres mentioned early in the video would make vastly more sense on a flat earth model.
Smart guy, but this is why there is a HUGE difference between Mercurial and Uranian astrologers.

and the Sun revolves around the unmoving Earth like the Moon which is how we always calculate Western astrological charts.
