Luca, Italians DO drink espresso after lunch and whenever during the day. It is just the cappuccino in the afternoon which is considered a faux pas made by tourists :-)
I'm afraid I made many a faux pas at first. Thank you for getting me on track🤗
It's very common have a coffee after lunch, especially if you have to come back working
Michaela Turková Actually is not exactly as you say, what you wrote it's just a partial truth (the one about the espresso), I try to explain what I mean despite my "Google-eng", sorry, I hope you understand.
I make an example; in winter it's quite common to drink cappuccino in the afternoon, evening or even before going to sleep, especially when it's cold, as if it were a hot chocolate.
What no italian does and that really can't understand it's eating for lunch or dinner with milk/cappuccino, that's truly incomprehensible to us; how can eat something salty and drink milk/cappuccino? You could drink wine, beer, water if you are a teetotaler but you drinking milk or something? I know who are simply and normal "cultural" differences but that's what it really weird to us.
Since there are now, let's talk about another thing who is weird for italians (more than cappuccino in the afternoon) and it's the very american habit of putting ice cubes in the cappuccino cold, as if it were a cocktail; Why? The ice melts and everything becomes bland and watered down, it would not be easier to take it very cold?
Again, sorry for my eng and for the "heavy" comment but I wanted try to clarify this thing about cappuccino who it read everywhere, ciao.
@@lazios Yes !! Listen to Italians I would say ! Lol. That's what Italian lovers used to tell me ,nobody drinks cappuccino with lunch or dinner ! Only breakfasts !!
We just think that means no later than morning as there are many videos ( Italians are saying that way ! ) saying that !! So,it's misleading !!
The basic faux pas is ,drinking milky drink with savory foods ! Which you can't understand the logic of eating savory foods with milk in coffee ! VS Americans eat sushi drinking coca cola !!! That's faux pas to us Japanese !! Lol.☕🫖💜🥁🎵🐉🎤🎶💞
I’m Italian and I can tell you that we do have coffee after lunch. Until 4pm-ish (for sleeping reasons) it is absolutely normal to have coffee. It’s not too much on your stomach after you’ve eaten, actually I prefer having coffee after eating because it minimises the side effects ahhaha then if you’re going out there and trying to have a cappuccino after lunch it’s a whole other story, that is considered too much on your stomach because it is a lot and it has a lot of milk. Cappuccinos are for breakfast here, espressos and macchiatos are for any time of the day when you need coffee and so are cold coffees. Hope it clears it up 🥰 I really love your Italy vlogs and it’s so interesting to see you discover my culture and learn my language

Luca did you have a chocolate wafer straw or two with your latte di mandorle? Not sure if you're into this, I love Il Campo di Fiore. Neil de Grasse Tyson's Cosmos II started with the story of the monk at the center of the Campo: Giordano Bruno. The Piazza di Popolo is a fun place. Would you attend a soccer match between Atlanta United FC and Atalanta di Bergamo? I'm a TFC season ticket holder.
The chocolate straw sounds amazing! I also had fun in Piazza di Popolo. I think a live soccer match might be fun. Watching in the square was really the best experience ever. So exciting
