NPA wants Hawks to investigate Bheki Cele

- The National Prosecuting Authority has asked the Hawks to reopen
an investigation into the controversial rental deal involving their
political boss, police minister Bheki Cele, that took place more than
10 years ago.
It is alleged that Cele attempted to rent a building in Pretoria that
would serve as new police headquarters.
The then public protector Thuli Madonsela established that the deal
had not followed procedures and recommended that Cele be investigated
with a view to pressing criminal charges.
This comes amid claims of links of recently-appointed national police
commissioner Gen Fanie Masemola to a multi-million rand tender scandal
while communities are demanding removal of corrupt officers from their
communities.
Action Society's Ian Cameron and general secretary of the Independent
Policing Union of South Africa Mpho Kwinika discuss this.
