- A video circulating on social media has sparked outrage and debate about the conditions and privileges for prisoners in South Africa. A man remanded at Goodwood Correctional Centre in Cape Town for kidnapping allegations is seen bragging about the comfort of life behind bars. He claims to have access to free food, electricity, education and the ability to use a cellphone to post content on social media. Naledi Moleo speaks to SA Prisoners Organisation for Human Rights' Miles Bhudu.

Income Taxpayers who got paid on the 15th , two days ago, are already borrowing money. We pay high taxes but have to get high interest loans to study yet these people are bragging about "free" education.
Bro they can give that to prisoners for FREE and innocent kids have to pay to get their degrees, masters, matric etc if you don't have the money, you don't get your papers But people who break ins, heists, hijack, drug dealing etc get all that for free? This guy should address the real issue of lawlessness in prison and not talk about nationality. While nationality may be very apparent it does not take away credit that the prison system needs to fixed.

The Uncle is not dealing with the issue but focused on Correctional Services and nationality of the person. It is not about that but the constitution.

Correctional services intended to produce rehabilitated human beings regardless of their past crimes is a successful one. It's not a bad thing for prisoners to be happy with their rehabilition facility.

But this isn't new though. We all know prisoners are living their best lives. Yet, the law-abiding citizens can't claim free education.
Just look at how many prisoners are reoffenders. They have it too easy in prison. Poor us who abide the law and can't even buy enough groceries to last a whole month. Poor us who are forced to eat one meal a day because the salary doesn't match the interest rates.

Prisoners get all privileges from free bed n meals a , education, relaxing stress free life whilst their victims do not get any compensation at all no counseling, no financial support, nothing!
This needs to change a prisoner needs to repent, understand what they have done wrong and try to make right , get counseling to b an improved citizen and serve the community somehow like help in community infrastructure etc, get a trade for themselves and grow their own food to feed themselves whilst in prison.

And the video should be seen in context. Yes, they get food and don't pay rent, but they are behind bars and only a social worker report can actually indicate if this innate agree to it, to have a psychological test done as to what does his actual feelings about being behind bars look like, I can guarantee you, it isn't happiness. No one would be happy sitting locked up day in and day out and your whole future gone into only this for a certain time.
