In case we forgot: This is the original Sub-Zero who would later become the character known as Noob Saibot. There is another Sub-Zero who is actually his younger brother (as seen in the MK games with a scar on his eye) 4:24 That grunt always sounded like someone who let out a long and loud fart
@mark2bit First, sub-zero is not cold-blooded killer, and second, to kill Hanzo Hasashi(Scorpion)? For leaving his daughter an orphan and his wife a widow?
When you get on the elevators, press and hold the button you use to grab the items (A on N64 or L1 on PlayStation) and then press High Kick or Low Punch (C-Up and C-Down on N64 or Triangle and X Buttons on PlayStation). Same applies for Level 8-Shinnok's Fortress.
Does it actually make a difference if you strike him down or if he goes down on his own? It seems I vaguely remember being able to finish him. Any changes in cutscenes at all? Thanks for the upload.
I think any beginner in the world of technology deserves an answer to any question. We must respect the freshmen to earn respect. I'm not attacking you, just want to explain the situation.
Damn I still got this game and tha Special Forces with Jax, I use to play them all tha time and watchin this vid brings back good memories! :) I use to play just like u in this game and I bet I still got it too and i'm always been a Mortal Kombat fan! :)
this is the first time i actually see someone play this game well without being a complete noob at it....Great performance dude..everyone else is just TAS..
The concept of the game, is that a hired murderer prevents hell on earth. The bad guy doing a service to all mankind. Very bloody, exciting as well as inspiring. The game was damn hard and relentlessly punishing of mistakes. It felt so rewarding to manage to just make it to the next stage. The recipe in its core is the same for games like Dark Souls. When the stakes are high, winning is even at a virtual level a glorious triumph to be remembered. Video games is what I grew up with. My parents thought it always was a waste of time, but through this digital form of commercial contemporary art, I am able to speak the language being used while writing this comment. And people would think I were a native speaker perhaps. Not at all. Books are great, but games are a much better starting point. Talking from personal experience.😉
@MarvelousJarvis LMAOO!! He says, "The map is mine, Sub-Zero." Lol! It sounds like that though. God, I miss playing this game as a kid. Thanks for posting, grindguy!
man I remember this wen I was like 7 I was horiable I never got past the smashing pillars and I didn't know how to freeze people wow great vid now ima watch the rest
i remember playing this for n64...good ol times. never beat the game tho. the last boss was harder than a mutha. wouldnt mind giving it another go on nintendo
lmao, I love the little dance at 3:11 . It's really lame that you have to push a button to turn around, but oh well. Anyways, thanks for the videos. I enjoyed watching them, and I never beat this game as a kid, so maybe I can dig it up and actually try to beat it for once. =)
I remember my mother helping me with Shinnok. I would freeze him but couldn't hit. Her "What are you suppose to do? Me "beat him and take the amulet" Her "that big medallion on his chest? Just grab it.? Me: "it's Shinnok Amulet, not a medallion and you can't" Her: "Well when you freeze the wizard just take it." Me "He is a God and you have to beat him 1st." Her "let me try..." After a few minutes, she clocks his attack, freezes and proceeds to grab the Amulet while I proceed with surprise Pikachu face... (She helped me w/ games before.) "See, come now dinner is ready..." Like it happened 5 mins ago...
I *really* hope you're joking. Running forward spamming the one combo then slide, failing to finish Scorpion, getting hit loads of times... What video were you watching?
I remember as a kid going with my buddy and his mom to the store to buy this. I felt so bad for him and his mom dropping 50$ i just left and didn't even bother to stay after the first level.
I think this is one game that could do with a remake because the core idea worked very well but looking back on it I think it wasn't executed as good as it could have been.
his brothers current fate to serve as a wraith. She agrees, and declares that there may also be a way for them to reverse his evil alteration. They travel throughout the Netherrelm, and discover the sword that the demon Ashrah had once used to gain her ascension from the Netherrealm. Sareena then suggests that they bring the sword with them as it will serve a significant purpose once they confront the individual behind Noob Saibot's demise and further bring about the end to their quest. HUH?! :D
They should make another Sub-Zero Mythologies, and have it be about Sub-Zero seeking a way to return Noob Saibot back into his original human form. While on his journey he'll encounter characters from the first Mythologies that his brother either allied or became enemies with. Eventually he'll come across the assassin Sareena, in the Netherrealm and rescue her from some kind of torture chamber, promising to aid her in escaping the Netherrealm, if she would reveal to him the dark magic behind
I have the N64 version still, and I wouldn't trade that game for anything, I still might want to play Special Forces, even though everyone says it's a crummy game.
its pretty obvious that this was orginally meant to be the first attempt in a long running "series" of games. Just look at the title "Mortal Kombat Mythologies:SUB ZERO". Kinda like "X-Men Origins:WOLVERINE". They may have been planning to do a prequel "Mythologies" game for every major(or fan fav)character, but after the massive epic failer of this games sales and critical reception they quickly pulled back. Unless "Mortal Kombar: Special Forces" counts :-p.
That dance was so funny!
Very nice that you let Scorpion live.
I grew up with this game. :) Its how I love Sub-Zero today.
That fucking dance!! Lmfaooo
God damn i miss my childhood! I remember spending my summer playing this game
"Hey, you remember what made Mortal Kombat 1, 2, 3, and 4 great?"
"Yea."
"Let's scrap all of that and make another Mortal Kombat game."
"Ok."
Then, the ice age came. XD
I wouldn't go as far as to call MK4 a great game.
KalvinEllis XD
KalvinEllis I liked it.
KalvinEllis Look at the reviews too. 8.8 and 7 out of ten is a pretty high score.
"You will fail...UHAHAHA." *dead*
I don't know why people hated this game
I loved it
Loved this game for many reasons, and the biggest of all is, of course, SUB-ZERO!
The acting is so cheesy. A reason I love this game
aaahhhhh my childhood. :) is good to remember these moments.
Agh, I remember those combos and the sound effects! God I miss this game.
The arcade game was produced with good graphics to take peoples money.
In case we forgot:

Man this game was hard as hell as a kid. I kept dying when i had to get something out of a room that had a big ass fan in it.
This game was like the 1st Dark Souls, only harder. Much.
this THIS *THIS*
this is one of my fav youtube play-thrus just for the Sub Zero dance.

Wow, I never saw anyone play this game so well. The fact that it's pretty bad (not as bad as MK special forces) is also worth congratulations.
That's a nice way of thinking.
Por isso "MK",será um clássico em qualquer tempo...
Damn I still got this game and tha Special Forces with Jax, I use to play them all tha time and watchin this vid brings back good memories! :) I use to play just like u in this game and I bet I still got it too and i'm always been a Mortal Kombat fan! :)

Hey dude you got some pretty impressive skills, thanks for posting
i like how you spared scorpion's life :]
Thank you for the reply, one more thing, what program do you use to play it?
"You will fail. Bwahahaha"
epic taunt there
@MarvelousJarvis LMAOO!! He says, "The map is mine, Sub-Zero." Lol! It sounds like that though. God, I miss playing this game as a kid. Thanks for posting, grindguy!
This is by far the best game i have ever played!!....
You will need to use the first wind key, the same have a rounded form. Try looking for it, before you reach the platform.

Nice shuffle dance hahaha
man I remember this wen I was like 7 I was horiable I never got past the smashing pillars and I didn't know how to freeze people wow great vid now ima watch the rest

I like his little victory pole-dance at 4:44.
Fucking epic! I love this game!
I remember this game! I never could beat it since my cousin moved. T___T
It was a fun game though and still is. :D
@jeavii they made the game based on who likes scorpion or sub-zero and they found out that sub-zero has more votes so they made it
I remember my mother helping me with Shinnok. I would freeze him but couldn't hit.
Her "What are you suppose to do?

Her "that big medallion on his chest?

"See, come now dinner is ready..."
Like it happened 5 mins ago...
i remember playing this on ps1 but is there a pc version which i can download ??
This game actually looks pretty good..and funny (obvious reference to scorpion bit)
Why is assassin incorrect???
this was the game back in the day :)
Wow!! You deserve Cameron Diaz for being so pro at this game!!!!!!!
I *really* hope you're joking. Running forward spamming the one combo then slide, failing to finish Scorpion, getting hit loads of times...
What video were you watching?
@Marcelogarcia3200 Realmente um dos melhores da Midway,
I remember as a kid going with my buddy and his mom to the store to buy this. I felt so bad for him and his mom dropping 50$ i just left and didn't even bother to stay after the first level.
man,i really missed this game
I think this is one game that could do with a remake because the core idea worked very well but looking back on it I think it wasn't executed as good as it could have been.
I had this game for Nintendo 64 , and it was awesome !!!!
I used to looove playing this game!!
his brothers current fate to serve as a wraith. She agrees, and declares that there may also be a way for them to reverse his evil alteration. They travel throughout the Netherrelm, and discover the sword that the demon Ashrah had once used to gain her ascension from the Netherrealm. HUH?! :D
Noob Saibot always was my fav Mortal Kombat´s character
holy shit i never heard of this and i thought i was the greatest mk fan ever
Ur pretty freaken sweet at this game!
i totally loved this game
I finally beat this level after all these years
I had this game for N 64. I remember it being hard, but then again the N 64 controller wasn't the most user friendly controller.
thanks for uploading my friend.
I remember this like it was yesterday! They should remake it for xbox/ps3 or do one with the story of scorpion
Yeah, that's the original Sub-Zero. aka Noob Saibot. The current with the scar is his goodguy kid brother.
i dont see anything bad about this game, even if it was a spin-off. i would like to play it one day.
They ought to bring this game back, but with digitized characters as in the early MK tradition.
I vaguely remember dying 300 times before I completed this level, than gave up shortly after.
"You will fail" *laughs and runs away* LOL!!
The story of this level is said to have ended with Sub-Zero "brutally murdering" Scorpion. So why didn't you use his fatality?
Ah, the good ol' days...
this game just made you good with sub zero in MK3 because the moves were the exact same
seriously though, this games look extremely fun
@Boicovich LOL at "when was the last time that asshole spared anyone?" How true!
Lovely childhood.
yes, if you perform a fatality on him, you'll have to fight against him in the prison (level 6)
lol why thanks for letting him live! That was very kind of you sir
well it looks more badass than the n64 version
thank u for making this....
lol i like that dance sub zero was doing
I have the N64 version still, and I wouldn't trade that game for anything, I still might want to play Special Forces, even though everyone says it's a crummy game.
You did the right thing by not killing him! You have my respect (lmao)
long ago subzero is strongest than scorpion and popular , now u all can see scorpion wins
3:12
The finest jig of the Lin Kuei.
Sub-Zero's Fatality
Down,Forward,Down,Forward and HP(High Punch)
The real story says that Raiden himself traveled through space and time, and brought pirates to be fighters.
We should start a petition to get a sequal made on the PS3 and Xbox 360
if u wanted to coul d u kill scorpion??..someone told you could i'm jus curious
Hell yeah! Tried watching the longplay but the dude wasn't any good. We have some combo ass kicking in this one. This is what I wanted to see again.
oh yes i love this game! best on the n64 IMO.
@SexyKillua
Você jogava Mortal Kombat Mythologies?
LOL sweet chin music at 3:47! awesome...
Thanks, and no problem.
What are you talking about ?
@Marcloud i used to think that ll the time when we played this game back in 1997
its pretty obvious that this was orginally meant to be the first attempt in a long running "series" of games. Just look at the title "Mortal Kombat Mythologies:SUB ZERO". Kinda like "X-Men Origins:WOLVERINE". What system? I got n64 but it dosent play cutscenes for obvious reasons
3:12 They be Like "SUB" "What?" "Can you teach me how to Dougie?"
Know why?
Cause all the Sonyas LOVE ME.
@joaovictorndp what about special forces and shaolin monks?
