    I been removing metal for 28 years and it still does not get boring watching the machines run.

    Love watching these shiny machines drilling and cutting the metal in all shapes. I would love watching them even if they didn't make anything at all.

    Mannnnnnnnnn this is wild. I want these machines so bad. All of them. I'd never, ever, ever, leave my shop. These are incredible.

  • @Welcometofacsistube

    As a CNC machinist, please no music. The sound of the lathe is music enough. It takes away from the video.
    When I first started as such, I had a old timer walk past me and without looking said “ your cutting it wrong!”
    At the time I didn’t understand
    Now I truly understand. I can hear a lathe cutting wrong all the way across the shop.

      @Craig Smith The grand start up memory of us all :p
      I remember back when I got told "if anything sounds wrong, hit the big red button" First push and my heart was at my throat while looking at my mentor, who stood with a calm smile, while I was thinking "are you insane?"
      Now it's become one of the past time activities in the shop, to share silent gazes with the people around you, when someone fucks around with their cutting data.

      Its not a secret. You can call your tooling supplier and get the feeds and speeds and plug them into your CAM software. Then from the software you can select the type of machining you want to do.

    I started with 0 experience in cnc lathe work. No education.
    Not 3 years in I'm still employed and make an ok wage as I am still learning. Once I can tackle any job without asking for clarification on prints and not scrapping as much I will make more.
    I edit basic programs to fit jobs on the lathe and run them.

    For the first part the inserts were facing towards the front of the machine and in the second the inserts were facing towards the back. How do you determine which way the tool is suppose to face? Does it depend how it's programmed? Like with the direction of the spindle? Just learning this stuff and it confuses me.

    Where are the measurements to ensure that the part is to specification? How can you skip measurements? What about wear of the cutting bit, etc?

    • @Frustration1995
      @Frustration1995 5 лет назад +3

      CNC Machines run off essentially a computer program so it will do all of these cuts in one go with an operator watching. where i work before you run the program from start to finish we "block it through" which essentially means watching each tool in and making sure its not going to do anything stupid and we check each measurement after each tool, once its been blocked through we'll let it run the whole cycle and check the measurements once its finished and another part has been started. yes the tips do wear and its down to the operator to listen and check them, you can hear if an edge has gone better than looking as sometimes the tip has a smaller tolerance than what your making. machines have an offset function so you can move them minutely in each direction to make sure your part stays as close to the tolerance you need as possible. hope this helps!

    • @TheSentientCloud
      @TheSentientCloud 5 лет назад +1

      You check if it's in spec *after* the part is finished lol replace the tool if need be if the surface quality is fucky

    • @maconbacon2653
      @maconbacon2653 5 лет назад

      These look like just demo parts anyway. They don't look to be anymore then that to me so there's no reason to check measurements. Usually don't stop after each cut to check especially after a rough cut.
