Thank you for this, in my 30 years of life, I didn't know about this. Now, I'm gonna make sure to check also the mouth of the fish that I bought and clean at home before cooking.

@@Imadreamergang They feed on mucus and some of the fishes blood, not the fishes food. The fish can still eat but its eating habits are less convenient.
True parasites dont kill, just cripple the host. If the host dies, the parasite does too. @@randomgamingness7953
This doesn't affect humans I think, we don't have gills, and the parasite only needs water so no i dont think it affects humans.
Please liberate the poor fish from this parasite
