Universal is to blame for the way the game is. They were constantly breathing down the dev team's necks and forcing them to change stuff for a holiday release. Also Sparx speaks in that buzzy voice in Spyro 3.
TheLonelyGoomba You want to know what really happened during development of the game? The problem was Universal had written their contract so they could outright reject anything Check 6 brought to them while still demanding a finished product, and they had the ability to withhold funding from the company if they didn't like what they saw. So as a result, the outline for the game was re-written several times because Universal rejected all their ideas telling them 'that's not Spyro', yet would refuse to tell Check 6 what they meant by that. They would also give them certain direction to take a certain segment or level, then would reject what they were presented despite it being what they asked for. Even down to the wire, right before release, Universal was making demands of the devs and cutting a lot of their content. Many of the employees of Check 6 were not being paid at several points and were barely scraping by. Many of them actually left because they got so fed up with Universal, and they had to replace them while they were well into the project. Despite being a new company, most of the employees at Check 6 were veterans in the gaming industry. Plain and simple, this project at the get go was poised to be a masterpiece, but Universal absolutely obliterated it, leaving us with the hollow, broken game we have now. There is this RUclipsr named Mr. F01, who put together a documentary about the development of Enter the Dragonfly. He was able to interview many of the people who were employed at Check 6 and worked on the game, and they lay out in very plain detail all the problems they had, some of which were with management, others were with Equinoxe, but the bulk were with Universal.
