4:16 So that turret scene is a running gag. They are notoriously inaccurate in the games. So it not hitting shit was an easter egg
That makes so much sense now! Hilarious 😂
So these are storm trooper turrets ? 😄
@@MeeshDeeReacts
Specifically, those are the second cheapest type of turrets.
@@beldin2987 yeah basically
They at Mk1 from FO4 and yeah one of the many many nods to those of us who play the games... great reaction though looking forward to the next one
kudos to the editor. they really popped off this episode.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Was going to comment the same thing ❤
Whoever edited the Critical Hit sound effect in when he shot the Yao Gaui is my hero.
Maybe Todd Howard is their Editor?
Thank you guys for watching! These comments praising the edits make me blush (I'm their editor for this series.)
But - and correct me if I'm wrong - I can't think of any basic looking pistol in game that can two shot a Yao Guai like that. Those shots had to have been crits.
@@hungryrabbiddawg You're not wrong, but the gun Max shot the Yao Guai with was a Colt 6520 10mm pistol. Pretty sure IRL that'd be a powerful enough cartridge to down at least a black bear, but I'm not an expert.
@@hungryrabbiddawg Right, with powerful guns or rifles, Yaos are a pain the butt.
The turret at the beginning is exactly as accurate as the turrets in the game are lol
Omg that makes it funnier now that we know this lol
@@MeeshDeeReacts Also the dog refused to run when filming, that's why they were going so slow.
@@lucidiously...sounds like the dog knew the assignment better than everyone else.
Well we can't have any violence in a Fallout TV series or in a video game from an automated Turret! That would be very improper!
List of things killed by my settlement gun turrets:
1. Me
2. ?
The laser and missile ones are pretty destructive, but the player only ever faces the crummy machine gun type, out in the world. This depiction was accurate.
16:43 I adore Ma June as a character. You know grandma has to be a bad-ass to still be alive at her age in this world. And a human.... with all ten of her fingers too! _Must be nice._ 😁😁
Death-threatening the guy who holds the only thing that could save you....... That guy was a genius.
Another genius move. Not equipping himself with Stimpaks. If his unarmed Squire were to die, how does he then heal himself? Also, according to Paladin Danse, BOS soldiers always carry a secondary weapon.
INCREDIBLE reaction and editing!!!☺
Also, as someone who's played almost every, single Fallout...this show is everything🥰
Which is your favorite Fallout? NV is the black sheep but I had the most wacky fun with it.
@@hungryrabbiddawg NV is my favorite...hands down. But I also really enjoyed 3...and even 4☺ Is NV your favorite, too?
@@MightyMog80 1 & 2 for me
@@icoborg I really need to play the first two.
The Meech & Dee vault dwellers are adorable
Perhaps become a voiced companion mod in Fallout 4!
Thank goodness the Ghoul revived the dog. Everytime there's a dog in movies or shows like this, they usually never make it. So this is a nice change of pace.
I was so relieved! Let’s go stimpak! 🥹
Always funny to see how people care sooo much more for a dog, or other pets, than for humans. People can just wade trough rivers of blood from the people they just killed .. but as soon as they may seem to hurt a dog ..
But i must say i also was sooo disgusted by the first minutes of Yellowstone, where Costner kills that horse, and even in a way that should be extra harmful after what i read, that i never continued watching it. But there was also absolute no real reason to why start a show with such a scene other than just shock people.
And just think of the opening scenes of The Thing - every reactor is rooting for the dog. Until things go very significantly sideways, that is...
In Fallout 4 the dog companion can always be revived with a Stimpak after a battlefield injury. Not so much in Fallout 3.
16:58 The actor playing The Ghoul is Walton Goggins. He was a supporting character on The Shield, Sons of Anarchy . He most famously played the anti hero Boyd Crowder on the neo-western tv show Justified.
Mykelti Williamson who played Honcho in Fallout episode 1 was a recurring character on Justified
Dale Dickey who plays Ma June here was also a recurring character on Justified
This show is like homecoming for Justified fans!
Now how could you forget about Baby Billy!!!??
Don't forget Cecil in Invincible.
Walton Goggins was also in "Maze Runner The Death Cure" where he also played a character without a nose.
Walton was in a video game adapted film called The Tomb Raider (2018) where he played the villain.
@@x_trio_3_po333 He did the mocap and voice of the same (minor) antagonist in the game. They expanded it in the film.
Let's be honest, politely asking someone for directions while pointing a gun at them is 100% something Jinx would do, only she wouldn't put it down until the conversation is over 😂
right?! 😅
It's another sort of meta joke as players often don't bother holstering their weapons before talking to NPCs.
@@Dark__Thoughts Yup, and I think someone even made a mod that lowers your gun when you talk to people 😂
“You’re doing GREAT, Chuck. ☺️”
It's sort of a thing of all video games, to always have your gun out. So I think they are just pointing at gamers and laughing a bit.
Great editing on this! This show was so much fun! It's brilliant that they brought all three main characters together so fast. The music just sets the whole mood
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Needed to say Ive seen already the FO show couple of times and on top some reactions too. But, also wanted to say your editor did GREAT, its obvious your editor is familiar with FO and you are not a original gamer of all the games so honestly it makes your reactions even more accurate. Loving it, and the little decorations to your background!
Loved the reaction and am glad that you are enjoying the show. It is obvious that everyone who worked on this show appreciated and understood the material they were adapting. ♥♥♥
14:33
I legit had never noticed the FOA symbol until now!!! Holy shit. Can't wait for season 2.
Ay, glad I could highlight that blink-and-youll-miss-it logo. It'd make sense with what Ma June is doing in the series, but I wasn't entirely sure if that logo was supposed to be FOA's. It's a small cross though!
@@hungryrabbiddawg Yeah Ma is totally a fixer/connect for them. Especially if season 2 teases into what's happening in New Vegas after the game (whichever ending they go with), I wouldn't be surprised if the Followers play a big part into Lucy & Cooper's plots towards thwarting Valut-Tec. Moldaver was probably an FOA plant who eventually succeeded in their plan to bring power back to LA in the end.
@@g0lddustt29Be careful of your comments, I know most people in the comment section have seen the series, but our reactors have not seen S1 to the end yet. This is tiptoeing into spoiler territory.
Your editor is pure FIRE. Great work. And great reaction!
This show isn't "slow" at all. It has great storytelling. I grew up with alot of terrible video-game adaptations(I'm old) I have to say this is one of or the best video-game adaptation ever. Great reaction as always. Also y'all editor is awesome!❤
What I loved about this show was whatever questions I had from the previous episode always got answered at some point. Which drew me back whatever episode i had that question. I kept me engaged 100% in every episode.
Still don't have an answer about how Wilzig knew who Lucy is or how Moldaver stuck around this long
@@leok7193I can’t answer both of those without spoiling anything
Great edit guys
Our editor with the sick game edits! 🔥
The chap with the "water filter" is a classic random NPC for Fallout (at least one who's not trying to pop you at first sight)
And it's also a great little Easter egg/gag for game players, where you stumble across an NPC and start talking to them but forget to holster your weapon, so in reality, you'd just be standing there saying hello to someone while pointing a gun at them. That was very intentional from the show's creators (as they have confirmed in interviews). Love that little detail.
the doctor is played by the great Michael Emerson, other series worth mentioning are LOST, Person of Interest (fantastic series about AI with greatest hitman team the Scalpel and the Hammer), and Evil where his creepeness reaches an all new level
CX404 is so cute with her little teddy bear. The dogs in Fallout 4, even the feral ones, will occasionally play with teddy bears.
Lucy pointing her gun at the guy when she wanted to ask for directions, is a nod to the fact that, when you're playing the games, you have your gun out as well, unless you holster it.
Just came here to say your editor did a great job paying tribute to the Fallout video games in his edits and cut-aways. I'm guessing you two are not gamers? But if you'd ever consider playing a game, Fallout 4 is my favorite video game of all time. You might actually enjoy it quite a bit. Great reaction! You guys are so funny at so many points.
We don’t play but loving this series so far!! ☺️🙏🏼 thanks for watching along!!
As you go along with Lucy's journey you will notice that her "Okey-Dokey" changes tone.
In Fallout the games, turrets can be pretty inaccurate and if your Luck and Agility are high and you have the necessary perks, you can definitly survive a turret.
The actor said in an interview when asked about the turret scene that the dog didn't want to run that day
Maximus is like, the term "Falling up" in Human form. Lol
the embodiment of a luck build.
Another excellent reaction and great discussion afterwards. Ive said this before but a lot of people conflate slow with uninteresting, but this series has been neither so far - it's moderately paced, and extremely interesting. Honestly I think Fallout is one of the best shows of 2024, so far every aspect of it has been perfect, the story, the acting, the set design, the characters...etc, etc. I'll have to be very patient for your next reaction
14:32 The symbol of the Followers of the Apocalypse looks more like a Christian cross and a bit less like a gun sight (the crossed bars aren't equal lengths -- the bottom one is longer than the others).
Loving the edit! Such an enjoyable touch! 😁👍
I was iffy about this too, but threw it in the edit anyway. I think it's a super fun detail!
Damn do I love the Brotherhood theme in this. It's so damn well done. Which obviously makes sense, since Ramin Djawadi is the composer (same composer who did Game of Thrones).
God level editing I must say
The ghoul's gun is a modified MTs255 revolving shotgun with the barrel cut down to a pistol size, with what appears to be custom explosive rounds. Any normal person firing that thing one handed would probably shatter their wrist.
nah you can fire 12 gauge buck out of a hand shotgun no problem and it seems more like a grenade launcher due to the thump noise.
Fun reaction.
Not sure if it clicked but the dogs name CX-404 is a computer code for file not found.
Wilzigs statement "will you still want the same things when you become a different animal altogether" is kind of IMO the under lying theme of the series.
Lucy pointing the gun at the guy is IMO another game nod, in that new players often forget to holster their weapons when talking to npcs.
On re-watching I noticed that Wilzig drops his lab coat and puts on the dark coat at the cave, which I inferred to mean he actually was there before he met Lucy at night.
With Max and Titus showing up some time later.
The timeline in the series is tenuous and never laid out in detail, so just be aware that IMO things may not be occurring in the order you think they are.
The dog is viscous, yes, because he is a guard dog that is why Wilzig has him.
The thing is Max is a true believer in what the ideals are of the Brotherhood unlike Titus.
Bottle caps are the currency
Actually the Ghoul can be killed, he is just very tough has the ability to heal and immune to drugs.
Dog attacked first.
When Max gets his foot caught, again a nod to the games well known clipping errors where you get stuck.
Need the whole head because you need a special tool to extract the chip.
In the games: Fallout 1,3 and four you start as a vault dweller Fallout 2 and New Vegas your a surface dweller.
Canine Experiment Not Found
Amazon actually released a behind the scenes video and I was blown away by how much of the show was practical effects. I guess it's no surprise as Jonathan Nolan the director of the show is the younger brother of Christopher Nolan who's films are also very practical. But it was just really cool seeing how much of the show was practical, highly recommend checking it out after finishing the Season.
You could also view some Fallout lore videos, such as The Complete FALLOUT Timeline Explained! by GameSpot. Though this includes spoilers for the show. The Storyteller: FALLOUT series by ShoddyCast is a great one with each episode exploring differant parts of the Fallout lore. Episode 1 focusing on The Great War with zero spoilers for Fallout TV show thanks to the Storyteller series releasing from 2013 to around 2017.
practical not only often looks better its actually cheaper and quicker than making pure cgi look good. the other older behind the scenes video said they wanted to give the cgi effects people the least amount of work.
I was absolutely stunned to learn how much of the Power Armor was real, actual suits.
@@JeffKelly03 they even used a real jet pack. jet packs irl fly pretty hokily. they don't fly cool like people think. its why the military researched and then abandoned using jet packs on the battlefield. same with the floating flying platforms or inflatable helicopters
I like to think of the main characters as three of the types of people who play Fallout games:
Lucy wants to pick all of the nice dialog options and morally good story choices even when they aren't the most pragmatic, the Ghoul will choose any mean or morally bad option that gets him closer to his goals, and Maximus is an 11 year old who saw the cool power armor on the box art and wanted to be that so bad he started playing the game even though the content is slightly too mature for him. He doesn't care about the morality of his choices or have a particular goal in mind other than being a cool badass who everybody is impressed by
hah I rather like that take
I do something similar. Lucy is the new player, experiencing the world of Fallout for the first time and getting sidetracked every which way. Maximus is the roleplayer, going all in on a faction and living that lifestyle even if it means not doing the smart thing. The Ghoul is the veteran player who is on his umpteenth playthrough and doesn't care about the story, he's just in it "for the love of the game" as he put it.
I think I watched an 11yo kid play Fallout 4. He was so eager to start shooting at everything that he ran out of ammo by the time he got to Concord where his character was instantly killed by the Raiders.
And because it's Fallout, every choice they make, that seemed right at the time, will come with consequences that make them doubt the decision. But also because it's Fallout, there never is a right decision that can be made.
Michael Rapaport was perfect casting for the dbag knight 😂
Exactly!! 😂😂
A lot of people get fooled by the Ghoul reviving the dog. He revives the dog to track Wilsig, not because he’s kind.
The editor is a high level character.
😉😉
If you girls ever have a couple's fight use the line learned in this episode: "Get back to your fucking room, Barv."
😂😂😂 that’s exactly how we fight 😜
In the game, Brotherhood Knights are not too bad, just a different way to fix the world, and how to go about it. The Enclave has their way!
When watching this series, do not eat popcorn, and do not eat at all))) enjoy watching, you are wonderful. Thanks for the video, I wait for it every day.
25:55 "We're watching a lot of shows of decapitation". I cracked up at this. Speaking of that, have you both seen Tim Burton's film "Sleepy Hollow" (1999) ?
The show...."so far" is missing one thing. A character walking through almost anywhere in the wasteland...and then "beep Beep BEEP!" a landmine blows their legs off.
#GameRealism
Yall was talking about the set and I'm actually friends with a person who worked on it. They built the whole silo looking building themselves.
Just to be clear, the gore has nothing to do with Amazon. It's simply a staple of the game, just like the dark humor or the music.
2:28 He wrote 10 pounds, even though she was below it, thus saving her (see the sign on the wall right before that).
4:25 The message on the screen is pretty much part of the defense. The turrets in the game are about as accurate as this.
7:31 No, it's armor. lol
ounces not pounds. ten pounds is what a small fully grown adult dog weighs.
@@toomanyaccounts Whatever. Those weird units a few backwards countries still use.
4:30 Plot armor is thicc on him HAHAH
that and t1 turrents cant hit the broad side of a barn.
I'm a big fan of a the Fallout games, and the 50s jazz and blues music makes it even cooler. In this alternative timeline, USA got stuck in the 50s but developed nuclear fusion which powered everything. BTW, are you ladies Filipino? You mentioned spam & rice.

remember, there are no microchips in this universe :)
micro transistors came late. fyi in our world there is still devices such as high end amplifiers for guitars and other music instruments that use vac tubes because the sound quality is far better ie more natural sounding through them.
plus mini vac tubes are being researched since the computers made with them are highly resistant to radiation you find in outer space.
Maximus toting around that huge gear bag is almost certainly a joke about how Fallout players tend to use their companions as pack mules so they can haul more loot back to home base. 😅
it was a real prop to. the actor hated lugging it around due to the size and weight,
I'd love to see y'all play the games after watching the show.
As a fan of the games, I can tell your editor is too 😂
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Even though they are slightly pessimistic in regards to Vault Tec, they have no idea how deep it goes. I love it. My wife had no idea about fallout, she’d seen me play it but loved the show without any backstory. It so much better seeing someone learn about it
If it's "so much better seeing someone learn about it", perhaps you shouldn't say things like, "... they have no idea how deep it goes". 🙄
@@michaelhoward142 because it’s exciting to see them find out how deep it goes. Great clapback tho… why hostility other than you don’t understand what I’m saying?
@@tipsyt1909 What hostility? If you think "rolling eyes" is hostile, you've lived a very sheltered life, my friend.
What I don't understand is why you think telling them things go deeper than they suspect isn't going to affect their expectations and discovery.
@@michaelhoward142 you’re calling me out for no reason. I’d call that hostile. You don’t need to protect them when I’m not doing anything to hurt them whatsoever. I’m basically saying “I can’t wait for them to find out more about vault tec” that’s not a spoiler, that’s not calling them stupid. It is nothing more than me being excited for them. Ok big guy, you can stop “protecting” them now mmk?
*Nuclear bomb explodes*
Lucy: Okie dokie
The thing is however, the way she says "okie dokie" really changes a lot with the time.
4:35 Gun turret targeting software patch 1.01! Only 9.99 caps...it's a bargain ♥
GORE! Huh...why no reactors - React to Peter Jacksons FINE first films?
I didn't notice before but... did he look into the camera? 9:38 I can't tell if it implies something.
Im sure someone on patreon already mentiomed it. But the Enclave was Vault-Tec and Vault-Tec was the Enclave (best way to explain it to newbies) the Enclave was a collection of Mega Corps and political groups before the bombs fell who wanted to make America strong and traditional agian (or what they felt was traditional) at least, that was how they started. they were strangly N**i like and highly capitalist. Mostly made up of defense contractors and lobbyists. So the Enclave is somewhat aware of the Vaults, in fact in the second game they went around and wiped out the ones that they no longer had control over. You will see more of them later on though, no spoilers lol
There's a clear morality spectrum between thosethree characters: Lucy is the best (on thisdepartment), Maximus is in the middle, andtheGhoul is clearly the least principled character of those three.
He kinda explainswhy a few episodes down the line.
BARV! GET IN HERE! BARV!
Seriously. You can really tell the editor is a Fallout fan too. The soundbites in the edits, referencing various games in Fallout. Reallly good. Kudos to the chef, i mean editor.

The Mk.1 automated turret has the worst accuracy in the game.
In Fallout those turrets is very crap so they nailed it the heavy turrets are way more accurate.

Meesh: "You don't have a smaller... tool?"

Meesh: "The Brotherhood is supposed to be seen as very noble, and they're supposed to help people."
Me: "I've been playing Fallout since 1997 and that's all news to me. 😅 What about risking people's lives for toasters and beating up novices gave you the impression that they're noble and help people?" 😂
With this being their only entry point to Fallout, you have to remember folks that haven't played the games aren't going to have the same context for the Brotherhood as players do. I believe Meesh sees the Brotherhood from Maximus's viewpoint, the knight 'rescuing' him had been a symbol of hope. However, M&D also discuss further that maybe the Brotherhood is not all what Max has it cracked up to be in this series.
