I have only read one of her older books, Things We Save in a Fire or something like that and I liked it but hearing you & Fine talk about some of her newer books lately has me questioning whether I will like her anymore! 😅
I loved this one but really enjoyed hearing your thoughts! In the opposite of what you were saying about romances, this one proved to me that I could enjoy a romance if it wasn’t steamy lmao 😂 I feel better about myself now that I heard you say you couldn’t remember character names 🤣 This happens to me with books I like and also don’t like…I just don’t have a good memory lol. Also the eavesdropping!!! I didn’t notice it was 3 times and now I’m wondering how I didn’t pick up on that because that kind of stuff does usually annoy me. Like if an author uses the same word multiple times throughout the story, I always notice it lol
Let me clarify, when I say specific word, I mean a word that isn’t generally used all the time. For example, I recently read a book where the word “macabre” was used like 10 times and I remember thinking to myself “this could literally be a drinking game …every time you see that word in the story take a sip of something, and if it’s water, you’re sure to be hydrated” 😂.
Haha I know exactly what you mean with the words! Sarah J Maas always using the word “smirks” is one that get me. 😂 I’m really glad you enjoyed the book more than I did! I mean, it currently has like a 4.3 on Goodreads, so clearly I am in the minority! 😬
Just finished this one and agree with your review. I was pretty disappointed and felt like so much of the story was told to us rather than shown (for instance, I would have loved some scenes of them actually parsing out the script instead of being told they did it after the fact). I do own The Bodyguard by this author, but now I'm a little nervous to read it.
Given everything I heard between this video and everything I heard I don't think this book is for me and I also don't think that this author is somebody who is worth me giving one red cent to.
Sounds like this is an author to avoid. I read the bodyguard (rather DNF’d) because of similar issues you had… so confused and all over the place… sooo frustrating.
"Eaves dropping and overhearing conversations three times" kind of just make somebody seems like they are just nosy and or a busy body.
Agreed

You may end up liking her stuff- who knows! She is quite popular and this book is well rated, so maybe Fine and I are just crazy. 🤷🏻♂️
@@ianthereader or maybe her newer stuff just doesn't cut it.. 😅 haha ill have to try and see sometime

Yes!! They didn’t get into the script at all which I feel like was a huge missed opportunity!

Yeeeeah, I think this author may just not be for me. I tried!
@@ianthereader exactly 😝 at least you tried 🤣 and now you’re smarter for it
three times is ridiculous to be fair…
