  • 00:00 We're often asked about games for kids. "My child likes 'Game X' - which of these peg games would they like?"
In this video, I'll make a few suggestions with very brief overview in a few major categories.
01:00 3-in-a-Row games, for those familiar with how tic-tac-toe works plus some additional game concepts.
03:11 Entrapment games, from simple to complex, these are competitive puzzles that are great for learning how to plan ahead.
04:11 Asymmetrical games, in which players have different objectives. "Gateway games" that require a different kind of strategy.
05:01 Jump-and-capture games, for youngsters that like checkers but might be ready for another level of challenge.
06:40 Race Games which take the concept beyond the pure chance of the roll-and-move genre into some decision-making opportunities.
Games are a great way to engage with kids and between multigenerational groups. Games are also a sort of "fitness center" for the mind (of any age). Maybe these suggestions can help you nurture all that while having fun! (It's all about fun, right?)
Please ask me if you have specific questions about which games might be a good fit for your child, your friend, or yourself. I'm here to help!
Meanwhile, here's the link to the Peg Pastimes collection where you'll find the games mentioned in this video (and more): newventuregames.com/collectio...

One request I have for you was if you can make a video listing the various categories of games and popular examples / your favourites in each. I understand that there are probably no standardized ways of game classification, but nevertheless would love your take on it. I think these could help people like me, who are new to the world ofboard games, discover entirely new categories of games. Thank you!

Thanks for bringing these games to the attention of modern audiences. Since coming across your channel, I've gone back and watched all of your videos. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on Sid Sackson's FOCUS. I'm a fan of two-player abstract strategy games and FOCUS is one I enjoy..

I hope to get time to do a Sid Sackson video someday. I'd like to do a series on designers, and a series on game companies, too. But it takes a lot of time! Stick with me, Dave! Thanks.
