I love how accurate the ending is, since Rob was trying to make everybody human because people are giving up on cartoons and starting to watch live action shows more often. Gumball is one of the most meta cartoons, even more meta than Rick and Morty probably.
Rick and Morty are usually meta as knowing and making modern world references like memes, Tiktok and even God of War. Sometimes Rick says new season is coming but it's mainly just for fun. TAWOG is even more meta(since Season 2) as many characters knows they are in show and everything is repeating. And with the void it's actually becomes the main storyline of the show. Later stages with Live action becoming more popular in the world the void is starting to consume everything. It has lots and lots of filler as it's a teen show but I still haven't seen anything like TAWOG that this many meta and longevity. Many meta shows usually just lasts 2 seasons or stops being meta.

The world collapses, and the fact we don't even get to see it happen is kind of chilling.

there's like literally nothing about his voice actor either i think they just grabbed a random guy off the animation team for the pony and it ended up being a larger role
Dude, Banana Barbara straight up saw the end coming. Biggest foreshadowing in the entire series right there, she can alter the future, but "only what's left"
The ending is seriously freaky how much of a coincidence it is, considering what's happening with HBO Max. Rob trying to turn all the cartoon characters into humans for an unknown reason, then falling into the void, similar to how many cartoons were removed from HBO Max and all the live action stuff stays. What's more, the episode aired on June 24, 2019, and 15 days later, HBO Max was revealed. This is either extremely coincidental, insane levels of foresight, or somehow knowing future events ahead of when they happened similar to The Simpsons.
It's such a bummer that we never got a conclusion to the cliff hanger the show left off on. Whoever thought that'd be the fate of a show like this? Lol
I think the most interesting thing about Rob for me was that when I was younger I definitely noticed him in the background with every other character and it was like I was waiting for him to eventually be brought up with how many characters you could spot in the crowds of these scenes who all had like one gag or episode to themselves actually acknowledging they existed.
I dunno, I kinda like it but I do agree that the post-void design looks better (especially in season 5, when his pupil started to look like an oval, instead of it being shaped like an 8)
I love how they turned a side character that rarely appears in episodes to a full on one of the main characters and the villain of the show who might turn into one of the heroes in the upcoming movie or episodes
The irony to this comment is that Rob actually showed up quite about in the earlier stages of Gumball. He just never really got any lines until that one episode.
Anyone else realize that when gumball was shocked at darwin for pushing Rob, darwin asked gumball what he was mad at and he said he didn’t remember. I always thought it was a joke but looking back on it I think it was the universe making gumball forget
Rob went from nobody to nightmare. He basically had little screen presence in the beginning, but after his little escape from the Void he became a better character once he became a villain. Rob's first few attempts were comedic and then he became a serious threat during the Disaster and Rerun. Overall I liked Rob and in the end he was just trying to save everyone. Really hope they make a movie and he gets a happy ending.
It's at least possible for him and others to feel content with it, reminiscing about the earlier episodes and saying they hope you enjoyed watching them go through all of that as they fall into the void and disappear.
8:19 I remember this scene sticking with me, because it felt like one of the only times in the show where we can see Gumball genuinely hurt, and actually pissed off
@@jacobb4795 No he can't. That episode the universe almost ended wasn't because of his powers, it was because he was going against the laws of universe, which, in his case, was that he couldn't have a job. It wasn't just him, that can happend with anyone that goes against them too.
@@kara-mari9909 She not only can predict the future but she can change it. She may not be aware of this power but she's able to do literally whatever she wants just by adding or excluding things from her painting. In the epidose "The future" is shown what she can do, you should check it out, btw.
Okay, but his story is actually so sad. Ignored so badly that the universe decided he was a mistake. Only to be forced to become a bad guy by a fucking cat. All while still basically being ignored.
Before Rob was a villain I liked his design , he looked like a weird kid you can easily hang out with and then later he becomes one of my favorite cartoon villains.
"Oh no! We just found out our side characters hasn't show up for too many episode, how do reintroduce him back in this episode?" Any other shows: Just says that he was on vacation, exchanged to another school or going somewhere and then return for jobs TAWOG: let's create a world where every mistakes or forgotten character resides there. Then Gumball go back finding them, since our show has 4th wall break
I love how Rob was actually a well-written supervillain for a lil bit, but then he paused for a few episodes because Gumball was helping him build his evil persona. You'll notice this after his transformation. At that point, though, he hangs onto the whole "villain thing" until Gumball actually saves him from the Void the second time and now he understands there really _is_ some good in him.
All of that happened because of the stupid Void, since the place is the overarching antagonist of this show, due to it being a metaphor for cancellation, the reason why the Void erased all of Elmore from The Inquisition onwards, is either due to the series ending or the fact Elmore is being inhabited by talking animals, objects, plants and objects and little-to-no-humans, that's not only a bad ending, a sad ending as well
This show's idea and connections regarding the Void are honestly the most creative and interesting ideas I've ever seen implemented, especially Rob since he's an aftermath of the world going wrong as a literal corrupted character. Especially static having a connection to it as well. I'd genuinely love to use something like the Void in a story I make, because it's just that interesting.
They actually did. James Lamont, one of the writer's of the first two seasons, was asked about Rob, and he jokingly answered "We do not speak of him". They were planning on making him the best CN villain from the very beginning
I didn’t know Barbra knew all of that man. K but that superintendent is just the freakiest thing ever 16:59 And that’s the last we’ll see of Elmore, or Rob. “I’m neme-seeing someone else” got me
Rob is the best character in my opinion. But maybe that's because I'm a sucker for emotionally and mentally disturbed villains. This guy was not only forgotten in the void, mutilated beyond recognition, but he also has to live with the fact that his whole world, everything and everyone he loves, will be destroyed.
"I said I would destroy you, and everyone you love" *Ends up with void world and everyone he loved is destroyed EXCEPT himself* yeesh, his wish turned around him...now he's stuck in The Void until either the TAWOG studio releases a movie or the series gets a reboot...otherwise he's cannonically stuck in there forever, without a way out, because the only people, that can save him, are the ones beyond 4th wall aka the creators... And people still say that modern kids shows are dumb and with no plots whatsoever
I love how in the end when rob is about to end the camera starts moving like someone is recording, and when he says “it started” he looks straight into the camera
Yeah I literally don't remember Rob among the main side characters, seeing him in a group of side characters is so odd to me, the pony is the only episode that I genuinely remembered him in pre-void
from weird ass background character to comedic relief trying to be villain to an actual villain to actually not that bad of a person to guy who knows the secrets of the universe
I have a theory that the reason why he's currently glitched now was a failed atempt at the void redesigning him so he the old him could still be forgotten.
"you guys don't remember me at all" Me(who didn't even remember that he was in the show before he became showed up as a villain with glitched out features): Shit man, that's crazy.
“Other place” is probably just another way of saying the void, but “it’s started” is really strange, could mean that Elmore is gradually getting eaten away by the void, this would also make sense for some places to get involved like government or something.

why does no one like robs 1st desgin??? i thought itlooked really nice and cool and i didn't think it looked werid compared to everyone else cause in the show you have puppets, live actions, realistic character models, 3d animation, and the normal 2D animation.
I just realized the creator of the show being a animator knows as all other animators know that there show has a possibility of being canceled by there network like many other shows. So if he put that in the show it would almost take away the pain if his show did go under. Very smart.
I’m just now understanding that when Rob says transformation is the only chance they have of escaping to…”THE OTHER PLACE” at 16:46, he’s referring to the real world. REALITY. It makes a lot of sense because he wanted everyone to become human so that no one would question their appearance once they got to earth and everyone would be safe. Wow…I can’t believe I’m JUST now realizing this-
Okay but the thing he did in the mall is genuinely crazy, first he killed the van guy, then he made Darwin leave, then he made Gumballs parents divorce which led to Anais looking everywhere for her mother, then he literally killed Gumball's girlfriend And know the 2nd one, he made Darwin almost suffocate, Anais lose her limbs (just lose her limbs, like he didnt cut them off), made his parents small again and KILLED HIS GIRLFRIEND. AGAIN. The best villain, hands down
Poor Rob has been through a bit in the void. When he gets out, he tries to make everything clear of why he wanted everyone to be humans, the T-rex Tina didn't even give him a chance. Now Rob has fallen into the ultimate void in which he tried to stop. Now they will never know his true purpose..
Well when he remembered it himself, he did call out to them but they did nothing, that’s what’s sad about how they both are shown to have different perspectives
If you think about it, Rob started out as just some random background character who was just enjoying his life and wasn't really important to the plot. But then the screenwriters decided that he was "boring" and a "mistake" and decided to throw him into the void with all of Elmore's other "mistakes" away from his home, the screenwriters are the real villains here.
That final scene of the final episode from season six will forever give me chills. The creepy theme with the last note not present combined with the existential dread and anxiety in the last shot is literally haunting

The thing is, I didn't and he ended up being one of my favourite characters
His season 1 3d design looks uncanny as heck
Makes the glitch design look even better

but I do agree that the post-void design looks better (especially in season 5, when his pupil started to look like an oval, instead of it being shaped like an 8)
I love how they turned a side character that rarely appears in episodes to a full on one of the main characters and the villain of the show who might turn into one of the heroes in the upcoming movie or episodes

Rob went from nobody to nightmare. He basically had little screen presence in the beginning, but after his little escape from the Void he became a better character once he became a villain. What was the ending I watched this show as a young child every once and a while but I’ve never seen the last episode?
Or maybe they wanted to end on a bad ending and to that i say why not
All of that happened because of the stupid Void, since the place is the overarching antagonist of this show, due to it being a metaphor for cancellation, the reason why the Void erased all of Elmore from The Inquisition onwards, is either due to the series ending or the fact Elmore is being inhabited by talking animals, objects, plants and objects and little-to-no-humans, that's not only a bad ending, a sad ending as well

Wow…I can’t believe I’m JUST now realizing this-
:O
the fourth wall breaks on this show is crazy
I never realized they were setting up his arc so early that's wild
Okay but the thing he did in the mall is genuinely crazy, first he killed the van guy, then he made Darwin leave, then he made Gumballs parents divorce which led to Anais looking everywhere for her mother, then he literally killed Gumball's girlfriend
And know the 2nd one, he made Darwin almost suffocate, Anais lose her limbs (just lose her limbs, like he didnt cut them off), made his parents small again and KILLED HIS GIRLFRIEND.
In his return he's like "wAh YoU gUyS dIdN't SaVe Me It'S yOuR fAuLt!" Even though at 2:54 he just stood there doing nothing
