Vintage AD&D Warduke Head and Leg repair guide - Toy Polloi

  • This is not quite how I expected this video to go. The plan was to film a repair showing how to re-attach a broken off Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Warduke head then get the legs back on. But sometimes things don't go to plan and something else breaks. Which is what happened here.
Which in turn makes for a more interesting video as you get to see how I go about problem solving when things don't go quite to plan.

I've been trying to collect this line more lately. I never had them as a kid, but always loved them and wanted them. Part of the problem of growing up in the 80's was there were so many action figure lines I loved and wanted to collect, that Mom wouldn't let me collect them all. Anyway I've recently come across rhe Dragonne figure for this line in a yard sale. Got it cheap. But it was missing it's head and wings. I bought another broken one on ebay along with a Hooked Horror with a broken foot. The broken Dragonne i bought on ebay is missing it's wings and an arm. I already had a complete Hooked Horror. My goal is to get the wings I need and make some molds and cast parts and eventually have a complete stock Dragonne, a repainted custom Dragonne, and a custom repainted Hooked Horror.

I remember my Strongheart figure losing its head and both legs, but luckily my Dad just super glued them back on. Think it may be missing one leg, but I'm grateful for how much i do still have -including the slightly ripped cape and sword. If I could get another loose leg maybe I could glue that on and I'd at least have a complete static figurine.

If you want the heads to be a bit more sticky try the blue version of that pin as the tan one is the frictionless one. Although probably only an issue if you were using LEGO to replace the hole as well.

I did some similar restringing repairs to a Miss Dollikin and a strange small Dinah Mite-type doll. I found that pulling the elastic taut at the neck and clamping it with hemostats allowed me to knot the cord quite easily, without needing to hold the doll with my knees. I do frequently have to do the knee trick when I style doll hair though, I wish I could figure out a better system where I can keep the doll stationary some other way. I have some ideas, just haven't worked out all the details yet.

I love the "fixing" of the head. I use to have this exact version. I also had the elf ranger figure with the glow in the dark sword and the wizard. Not going to pretend to remember their names ha ha. The ranger figure was complete and about immaculate. Yes, campe included ha ha and the wizard was missing the longer staff. Warduke was my favorite of the 3 I had. I sold them. My Warduke though had a broken leg at the t-rod. I wasn't sure if another could fit in the leg. It didn't have a screw like the Joes. Someone bought it thinking he could figure out how to fix it. Not sure if he was successful.

Nice work around you discovered there Dave! I love this line and particularly this figure. I always thought he just looked super cool. I don’t know if you heard but NECA is remaking the figures from the line in 7 Inch Scale with batter detail and articulation. As soon as I saw they were doing it, I immediately preordered Warduke. Even if I don’t get any other figs from the line, I had to have that one. I love the helmet and the asymmetrical style of the armor. Thank you for sharing these awesome fixes for my vintage version. I’m sure I’ll need them sooner rather than later. Especially that O-ring. Cheers!👍

I've recently purchased the LJN Warduke and Zarak figures. Both are complete and intact. Now that I know how they're held together, I know that I shouldn't do anything that might break the O-ring or T-bar. The Grimsword figure I ordered might be from a later run that doesn't use an O-ring to attach the legs to the rest of the body.
