i love these comments. people get it. it's interesting that some people just don't. I am 64-year-old white dude who was trained as a classical musician, and a lifetime fan of jazz. never even heard of JD till I picked up a book about 21st century jazz, where the author spoke in reverential tones about the great genius of Dilla and his immensely important influence. I was like, who? go on the youtube and boom! you're a member of the international fraternity of those who get it.
Putting the sample as an intro clearly shows why Dilla is number 1. Never ever felt this beat until few months ago. It feels like my heart is in safe place while that bassline is petting my back. Dilla was playing with people's feelings and emotions. And that's probably why I feel like he was my best friend, my brother, my mentor and my hero. And I hadnt even met the guy.
Bro only a few folks will share this sentiment, I feel like that bout him too, I too feel I had a special connection with him, find myself trying to work out n understand how his brain worked, what is he feeling when he’s creating!🤔
Is that because these are just fan mixes with different names? Or is this really something j dilla himself dropped, I’m starting to feel like a lot of the stuff may just be fake fan stuff but I honestly don’t know
Yes, we know the sample is cool but, we also know that you came here for the beat. I love his kicks and snares on this one...and then to let the bass ride with the kick for a few and then disappear is genius.
This is from the Yancey Boys instrumental album. I feel this is the original version because it sounds so 90s. His best work is from the 90s imo not saying the eras were bad it's just what I prefer to hear the most
"The Chicago and Kansas Concert in Boston has been changed to the Kansas and Boston Concert in Chicago" Bonus points if someone knows where this one is from.
I am not on my usual profile for all my music but I wish I seen this comment 5yrs ago cuz I definitely know where that is from, cuz Im from the same South side, as Common and K. West..lol....I miss Jay Dee forreal. The 1990s in the midwest, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois used to be Live!!

My God 😍 this is insane
Obrigado por divulgar isso
damn what a legend Dilla knew how to put 20th century living into a beat
Intro is beautiful. Where is this sampled from? Anybody know? I'm surprised Dilla didn't use any of the piano chords in his beat
It's from L.A. Express' album called "Shadow Play", and the song is titled "Silhouette". A great album, I definitely recommend giving it a go!
he did in da unreleased epchy joint pretty sure
OMFG!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Illa J's "we here" with the tempo sped up some. On Illa J's first album you can feel the sadness on that album from Jay Dee's passing.
Amazing.
