  • There's a new Spider-Man on the block, and his name is Miles Morales. And to go along with the fresh face, the filmmakers created a whole new style of animation that really brings him to life.
    In the video we incorrectly refer to a character as Spider-Pig, when the character's name is Spider-Ham.

      He means that it took them a year to conceptualize 10 seconds of the overall look of the film. I imagine once they figure out what they were going to do, things went a little quicker.

    I have never been so inspired by a film in my life. As a lover of both animated films and superhero movies, this one is by far one of the best I have seen PERIOD--in both categories. I have been studying this film, as I am wanting to go into animation. There is so much to learn just from this film alone.

      Definitely deserved a nomination over Black Panther. The fact that the academy feel the need to make a seperate category for animation shows they don't understand it properly. To them, animation is a genre made for kids when at times they are so much more.

    This movie is still and probably will be for a LONG time, the most visually pleasing thing I have ever seen. With all the color and whatnot, I was wondering "wow that didnt hurt my eyes?"
    The amount of COOL colors and then HOT colors is so pleasing.

But also idk if it was just me but it was easier on the eyes on Arcane for me. The comic styles that popped on the frame kinda took me out of the action packed screen but was still visually stunning.

    It's definitely a revolutionary movie in terms of presentation and animation as a whole, it kinda bothers me how it's just seen as a "cool animated movie" it's definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life and the best one for Spiderman.

      It's an animated movie that itself press it at an disadvantage. People still view all animated movies as KIDs movie unless it's Pixar, Disney, or Hayo Miyazaki movie. It was true and still true to some extent but things are changing.     There will always be a place in my heart for this movie, ive watched it multiple times and I am almost never a movie repeater, but this animated film was nothing short of a masterpiece, it's got just enough quirk to throw a curveball at your expectations but written and animated so well that it always comes together again, definitely 5 / 5 for me

      he didn’t specify on this here, but before they actually started animating the movie they made this 10 second test footage clip to get the style right, and that took a year.

    Another subtle detail that made the movie great: Before Miles got his powers, the movie was incredibly lifelike, with very realistic conversations and less of the comic book-esque features like onomatopoeias. This part of the movie is more realistic than even most live-action movies in terms of character mannerisms and such. After Miles got his powers, the movie turned into a full-on comic.

      Movies in general have low frames per second anyway, 24fps with motion blur to make them look "smooth", this movie was meant to look like a comic book.
