He means that it took them a year to conceptualize 10 seconds of the overall look of the film. I imagine once they figure out what they were going to do, things went a little quicker.

I'm not a big fan of animated movies, but this has to be my favorite movie of all time. My wife and I will put it on at night for background noise and will end up being glued to the movie, every time.

Well lucky for us, animated movies like puss and boots and mitchells vs the machines (and probably a lot more in the future) are starting to ignore realism and use unique animation styles.
Peanuts Movie,Arcane,Mitchells vs the Machines,Nimona,Puss in Boots,TMNT Mutant Mayhem,Wish and more. This kind of animation has been used so many times yet feel fresh because the animators wanted to add their own touch to it to make them stand out. We need more animations like these
I have never been so inspired by a film in my life. As a lover of both animated films and superhero movies, this one is by far one of the best I have seen PERIOD--in both categories. I have been studying this film, as I am wanting to go into animation. There is so much to learn just from this film alone.

Definitely deserved a nomination over Black Panther. The fact that the academy feel the need to make a seperate category for animation shows they don't understand it properly. To them, animation is a genre made for kids when at times they are so much more.

This movie is still and probably will be for a LONG time, the most visually pleasing thing I have ever seen. With all the color and whatnot, I was wondering "wow that didnt hurt my eyes?"

@@distortingjack I really do think Arcane was also inspired by Into The Spider Verse especially with the Jink scenes!!! But also idk if it was just me but it was easier on the eyes on Arcane for me. The comic styles that popped on the frame kinda took me out of the action packed screen but was still visually stunning.

This movie was so beautifully animated that now when I look at other animated movies they just look flat and dull. This movie has so much eye candy I have to see it four times to fully appreciate all the artwork and animations.

It's an animated movie that itself press it at an disadvantage. People still view all animated movies as KIDs movie unless it's Pixar, Disney, or Hayo Miyazaki movie. It was true and still true to some extent but things are changing. I just realized thanks to this video that Gwen has Ballet shoes and that she stands on her toes when on the signature spiderman pose.
For people like me who love unique animations and movies that experiment with their animation to make something truly unique, this movie is a god damn unbeatable masterpiece and i can't wait for the sequel

There will always be a place in my heart for this movie, ive watched it multiple times and I am almost never a movie repeater, but this animated film was nothing short of a masterpiece, it's got just enough quirk to throw a curveball at your expectations but written and animated so well that it always comes together again, definitely 5 / 5 for me

he didn’t specify on this here, but before they actually started animating the movie they made this 10 second test footage clip to get the style right, and that took a year.

It's one of those movies that just came out but it's already a classic
This was my favorite thing about the film was the type of art style. Makes the movie even better
They didn’t have to animate it this way, but they did, which showed how committed to this project they were. Mad respect to the crew members who spent about 4 years on this movie.

I find the two frame animation super interesting, I really wondered how they created that “crunchy” movement
Another subtle detail that made the movie great: Before Miles got his powers, the movie was incredibly lifelike, with very realistic conversations and less of the comic book-esque features like onomatopoeias. This part of the movie is more realistic than even most live-action movies in terms of character mannerisms and such. After Miles got his powers, the movie turned into a full-on comic.

@@rommix0 The Lego movie was fine. This one, was a bit off-putting. But it's interesting to know it was purposeful and as he got better at being Spider-Man his frame rate increased and his animation smoothed out more lol

Movies in general have low frames per second anyway, 24fps with motion blur to make them look "smooth", this movie was meant to look like a comic book.
