    Should have reviewed the Picasso. It’s become one of my favorites. A few months ago tackle warehouse had a lot of them on sale for like 3 or 4 dollars. I bought an absolute absurd amount. When the chatterbait came out I caught more big bass than I’ve ever caught. I thought it was the best bait ever created. I do think the bass have been conditioned to the vibration and that’s why they do not catch as many as they used to but they still out produce almost every bait in my Arsenal.

    2 best chatterbaits I have ever used.
    1st-- the crosseye chatterbait. It has the kinda pointless weedguard on it that really doesnt prevent it from getting hung up, but you can just snip it off.... I like the hook better than jackhammer. It's thinner, shaped better, but still strong. It hooks everything. The blade is legit and connected to the head like a jackhammer not like the old school, and it has a tied skirt. I would get it over jackhammer 100% of the time if it had better colors.
    2nd-- The Jackall break-blade. It's JDM, it has a tied skirt, good blade, great hook, awesome head shape, and some have wire guards similar to the crosseye. You can just snip it off again. The only thing I do not necessarily like is that I guess with the head shape and blade combined it tends to rise quicker than most of the other ones I've used. However it's not a deal breaker because it thumps like crazy and instantly so you can slow down or do pulse retrieves to keep it down in water.

    The Jackhammer hands down is the best bladed jig on the market. Literally I have caught over 40 bass on the same exact jig. I still have it tied on . With that said I will pay $17 for it all day. That bait catches fish like no other. I have wasted so much money on other brands. That Jackhammer is the only one I find myself using. $20 or not the Jackhammer is my #1 go-to bait in my box. Compared to the original chatterbait, it's not even in the same ballpark. Blows any other chatterbait away. The action that bait has in the water and purely the number of fish that I've caught with the jackhammer is unbelievable. I have one of every color and size. The only thing I don't like is something the guys hit on and that is that the paint wears off of the blade, but that's after reeling in a boat full of bass. I'll take that tradeoff anyday.

  • @hkdsoutdoors
    @hkdsoutdoors 3 месяца назад

    I have noticed that blow out on the Jack Hammer but after playing with it in a pool. I would reel at a speed to keep it true and then do a quick speed crank and back to normal speed and the Jack Hammer will dart one way or the other. With doing that I would catch more fish right after that dart one way or the other. Just like a square bill deflecting off a rock. Kietech trailer with 1/4"-1/2" cut off from the head, skirt trimmed to the lowest point of the bend of the hook. Tough days turned into some of the best days of pond fishing after I put that all together. Jacob, give that a try when you have one blow out, curious to see the mouchi in action with that setup instead of the Kietech.

    Big Jackhmamer fan!!! I agree with J Dubb ..I thought I was crazy at my murky water home lake..How it blows out after u catch quite few bass on the 3/8th oz especially..I noticed it moves the same bit when retrieving at faster speeds it naturally will after some catches more then straight it the box..that said it’s still hands down my favorite..I’ve tried the slonbwrknocker and thunder cricket to 3-4 different Z-man versions..the only knock I agree mainly very hard to even elaztech baits and other trailers on the back..the paint chips some but hones trust they straight catch fish..really only need 3-4 colors too..3-4 tops trailer styles and your good..they love hitting the bait on the fall!!! I wanna see rate the bait on line thru swimbaits haha

    Guys were messing with that idea "bladed jig" back in the early 90s. There was a guy named Ed Gish in Dayton TX building spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and jigs. He had some prototypes of bladed jigs he made that we used with limited success, but nothing came of it. He did have the best buzzbait in East Texas at the time tho. Hands down.....

    I think the original chatter bait has a different cadence than the Jack hammer. The pieces of the Jack hammer are superior (skirts, keeper, etc) but everyone throws them and I think the original chatterbait can out fish it.
    Also, it’s not hard to turn your favorite jig into a chatter bait. 6th sense jigs work excellent.

I almost gave up fishing with a bladed jig because of the Jack Hammer. I switched over to the Thunder Cricket and hammered the fish. Tried the Slobber Knocker for the first time this season and have done really well with it.

      So Z-man has the patent that the blade can’t be directly attached to the hook eye, people get around this by using a split ring. The slobber knocker is connected directly but it doesn’t appear that way. A guy on TikTok melted one down to see how it was made.
      I bet Jacob is creating his own by opening the jig hook eye and adding a chatterbait blade. Which is probably fine for a regular angler like myself, and I have several of these. It’s different when the best fisherman in the world is creating his own baits and z man finds out.
