A squib is a small explosive device, they're usually used to simulate being shot in movies. A damp squib won't go off so it's useless, hence the phrase.
There is a documentary about "frivolous lawsuits" called Hot Coffee. It's quite eye opening. Part of the documentary does focus on the famous hot coffee lawsuit and I think it might change people's minds. There had been over 1000 complaints about the coffee being far too hot and McDonalds did nothing about it, it turned out it was a faulty machine that needed maintenance but McDonalds ignored it. The server then gave a 79 year old lady a cup of coffee but didn't secure the lid, so it popped off and gave the lady horrific burns to her legs and genitalia. The lady spent 8 days in hospital and never fully recovered before she died, and had to have many very painful skin graft operations as a result of negligence. A Quote from Wikipedia "The Liebeck case became a flashpoint in the debate in the United States over tort reform. It was cited by some as an example of frivolous litigation;[5] ABC News called the case "the poster child of excessive lawsuits",[6] while the legal scholar Jonathan Turley argued that the claim was "a meaningful and worthy lawsuit".[7] Ex-attorney Susan Saladoff sees the portrayal in the media as purposeful misrepresentation due to political and corporate influence."
The lady actually only sued for 20 000 dollars, just to cover her medical bills. She got 160 000 dollars for that, the other 2.6 million dollars was punitive and were based of Mc Dobalds coffee sales in the country, over two days. In the end, they settled out of court, so she probably got much less, but more than she expected in the beginning.
I don't know if it's already been suggested, or if you've already been watching, but you might like "What We Do in the Shadows". (The actor who plays Douglas Renholm in this is in it.)
You should check out the real story behind the woman who burnt herself on McDonald coffee it's pretty interesting I think Adam ruins everything made a story about it
As it happens, the coffee incident wasn’t as clear cut as it seemed. The lady in question suffered severe burns that required skin grafts, and she was hospitalised for over a week. Despite that, all she was claiming for was hospital expenses (when are you lot going to introduce a national health system????), and her daughter’s loss of earnings for having to look after her. The estimated claim was for $20,000. The defendant, McDonalds refused, offering a paltry $800. As a consequence she took the tossers to court, hence the large award of just under $3,000,000 compensatory and punitive damages. That being said, an unknown settlement was reached to avoid further litigation.
Still a couple of episodes to go. Anniversary episodes they were called? League of Gentlemen had a couple as well, but I think unless recorded off Tv as they were broadcast or bought on DVD I don’t know where outside the UK you could watch them.
Hey, I looked up that Luke's Gas Station lawsuit, and it looks like if it was the same lawsuit, it was actually dismissed. Maybe she didn't get huge $$$. "Luke Oil 'Kosher Case' to Be Dismissed" "Orthodox Union asks judge to drop suit; company has new logo"
The woman that spilled coffee on herself, have you actually looked at the footage of what happened to her? I recommend you do as you might retract the comment you made about it being frivolous.
cried laughing the first time I watched everything onwards from "your name is Maurice Moss, is it not?" his awkwardness is so relatable lol
LOL Moss is awesome =]
a squib is a firework, so no good if it's damp
“I object…there’s a brilliant bit coming up” 🤣😂👍😁🇬🇧

Thank you, English is not my language, now I know what that mean
Oh ok thanks bud.
I don't know why but the court typist reading back the word "bollocks" in a Welsh accent fucking kills me 🤣
dear lord me too, I had to replay that several times when I 1st heard it !!!
You need to read up on those lawsuits before dismissing them. The coffee one was 100% legit and the blame lay with the corporation.
It's so sad that they were so good with the smear campaign that even after all this time people believe it was a frivolous case.

The crazy jacket is a very good copy of one Heather Mills wore when she took Paul McCartney for everything he had.
A squib is a small explosive. A damp one doesn't go off properly - if at all
Can't wait for Red Dwarf recaps.
Female Sulu & Female Spock was played by Gemma Chan. She later appeared in Captain Marvel as Minn-Erva and The Eternals as Sersi.
Douglas and Will's dad were lucky men
Victorias actess also played the wife of denholm at the funeral

Heston Blumenthal's restaurant :DDD
Miss in the witness stand. My favourite IT Crowd bit
Dude, don't apologise for the jokes and stories; I love how much I learn about US culture from reaction videos :) much love from England
She vanished while washing the car 🤣🤣🤣🤣

This. The burns were beyond horrific. It's sad the woman has become the poster child for frivolous lawsuits. McDonalds wrecked her life.
I will have to check that out.
Starting Red Dwarf!? WoW! these really were filmed a long time ago haha
2:12 yes.

Wills mum lol plus she was his dad's wife at the funeral so I'm a nerd or channel 4 casting lol

Best episode. Toast of London is the newest Matt Berry series. In the spirit of his scenes here. Hilarious.
But this isn’t the last episode, you still have one more!
They have specials coming up.
The court scene is one of the all time greatest ever put to film in terms of comedy. Also, what happened to your RD videos!?
Douglas Reynholm is probably my favourite character on the show!
He is awesome =]
You need to find a series called 'Operation Good Guys'.
Does anyone remember?
Hell yeah. Loved that series. Not sure how well it would have aged though.

For t-shirts, redbubble should cater for your needs. A lot of their stuff is fan produced.

The is one more episode to go - season 5 one 48 minute episode.
The woman that spilled coffee on herself, have you actually looked at the footage of what happened to her? I recommend you do as you might retract the comment you made about it being frivolous.
Wheres Peep show mate it's been a while, love those reactions

Didn't they do an hour long special for the millennium?
Ngl I think the show ran out of steam here.
