Sorry, but I dare you. I dare you to love country music. It happened to me too. A dare. THIS dare. Good luck and welcome to the lost and the damned. *quiet chanting in the background* One of us. One of us. One of us~
That’s the best description possible. The videos are mesmerizing. And their music is entrancing. It’s almost like an out of this world experience. Especially this one. It’s phantasmic.
I'm really good at recognizing the artists that will make it big, before they blow up. This is one of those artists. Wish I could buy stock in musicians, I would be rich.
Last year my best friend and I listened to CCD almost every day and this last Saturday we finally got to see this man live. No words can express Paul's energy on stage. Your future is bright, Big Velvet! Amazing stuff.
I've never heard of Paul until I got a notification that there was something new by Orville Peck. 2019 I discovered Orville Peck and in 2020 I discovered Paul Cauthen. And holy Doodle, am I ever a happy woman!
I was lucky enough to grow up on a farm in North Texas in the 90s. We had some of the GREATEST country music ever at our fingertips. But I always felt like something was missing. Your sound sir.
Late edit: my father was friends with the legendary Tuff Hedeman; they both rode bulls together. My father approached my mother, and tried to introduce them but instead they ended up together. Crazy stories.
It may not look this pretty when I do it, but if y'all could just cut me a break and pretend it looks as smooth as it does in my head, that'd be great.
Oh and about the "who are you thing." Well, I believe you are you sir. keep doing what you're doing. It's a great song, I Love it. I listened to it like 10 times in a row. I drove 120 miles listening to this song over and over and over. I had to go to North Carolina to hear it for the first time. Thanks go out to Google Play. I have discovered the best songs I know through them. Great song y'all.
I got to hear Paul sing when he opened for Cody Jinks. He's got raw talent and sang his ass off while playing his guitar. Keep doing your thing Paul! We love you
I don't know if you're Johnny Cash. I don't know if you're Marty Robbins. I don't know if you're Tom Jones. I've played this piano rhythm for years, suddenly I hear it in a song. I guess what they say is true, if you don't use it you lose it. Now, what is that amazing sound about 3/4 way through the song. I don't know, is it somebody singing? Is it a steel guitar on acid? Is it Angels come down from heaven to sing with you!? Truly captivating, spellbinding, wonderful! This is a great song. It should be number one on every chart. And those dancing girls is just beautiful. That's all I can say, beautiful dance. Much love from Amarillo Texas. Oh and by the way, we have a Broken Spoke here also.
This video should have so many more views - I'm sure others will catch on if they know what's good for 'em. This song, this video, and the entirety of the MY GOSPEL album kicks ass! I have been sharing this video as much as I can. I can't get enough - it captures the essence of the song, but it also has this great balance of playfulness and badassery. Okay I'm gonna watch it again now.
I love this song too but the video was poorly directed. The "cowboy" dancing should've come in later as a crescendo and he shouldn't be mouthing the words or dancing in the car, it looks corny af. Great concept, bad execution. Also, when are there ever that many hot chicks in a country bar? Give me some average girls and I'll believe it more.
@@CusterKit Going to have to disagree on one of your comments, mouthing in the car is perfect if you know who's riding shotgun with him. Corny AF though? Maybe you should be directing videos. I can see what you mean by dancing kicking it later. By the way it's not called cowboy dancing in Texas, we call it line dancing. Interested on seeing your concept of the video.
Manny Rodriquez - the ‘cowboy’ dancing I refer to is the riding of the mop handle or invisible bucking bronco. I’ve line danced since I was a child. I appreciate your response and I respect your differing opinion. Also- I already made video for a Paul Cauthen song 😉
This my friends is a MASTERPIECE !!! Thanks Paul keep doin what your doin there pard! And thank you Chris Phelps and all those who worked on this MASTERPIECE!!! aND thanks Shakey!!!
Loving this song! My husband grew up and lived in Austin until a few years ago and he remembers the Broken Spoke well. His father is the one who put that dent in their sign back in the early 70's with a U-Haul lol
Woke up and can't get back to sleep because this guy, right here... taken me places I never knew I had been before... such a mashup... like Waylon Jennings and Hank Jr, were a rich and delish two tier choc-O-late cake, Glen Cambell is the decadent creamy whipped icin that cakes been dipped, flipped, and rubbed down in, w/a few sprinkles added on, and Johny Cash sittin pretty like a bright red cherry on top... take a bite, and the movie Urban Cowboy and the 80's decade starts playin out in your mouth... like, that's what this dude is doin right now. I am ridiculously in love.
I saw Ronnie live. He told his guitar player he wanted to get closer to the audience, and asked how far he was from the edge of the stage. “You got a good 20 feet Ron.” He was five feet from the edge. Still laugh about that.
My new music crush! I love the touches of brass in the accompaniment. Great video storyline. And pretty certain some of those dancers are classically trained & having fun. The. Classic. Muscle. Cars.
Hmm. Kinda west Tx outlaw with a Roy Orbison vocal quality meets a twist of southern honky tonk.. He's different in a very good way. Glad I found Paul Cauthen.
I hadn't heard of him yet and I missed his set when he opened for Bingham and Fallon. I will never forgive myself. (But I did see him last week with his band in DC and it was one of the best times I've ever had at a show.)
We are really digging your music here at the Backwoods convenience bar and grill in Hopewell Missouri great tunes brother stop in if your up our way ..
well I've been hearing this song for a little bit now, and I'm still waiting for it to make it to the country radio stations. Somehow they just don't play the song. Freaking corporate country music sucks. This is what country western music sounds like.
Amarillo radio doesn't have the balls to play this song! Nothing but Nashville! I had to go to North Carolina to hear this song. (EDIT) there is a broken spoke in Amarillo. There are just no balls.
I just went dwn the most De-day-um-licious rabbit hole n looky at what i found! Who in the hell wouldn't love love love thos overly confident man? What a honey🍯huh? xx Kimber Curtis🖤
Don't you dare do it. Don't you dare make me love country music.
Sorry, but I dare you. I dare you to love country music.
It happened to me too. A dare. THIS dare.
Good luck and welcome to the lost and the damned. *quiet chanting in the background* One of us. One of us. One of us~
I quite... like this one song. Hm that's the first taste, isn't it?
If this isn't the realest comment ever. I already got the country fever
😂😂😂
I know right 😂😂😂
Most underrated Musician of all time.
Where has this guy been my whole life. Cocaine Line Dancing took me down the best Country music rabbit hole!!
I swear man...Paul's music videos are fantastic. It's like Quinten Tarantino directed music videos for Waylon.
That’s the best description possible. The videos are mesmerizing. And their music is entrancing. It’s almost like an out of this world experience. Especially this one. It’s phantasmic.
Right😅😍
I came to comment the Tarantino vibe I’m getting. This is awesome
Too right
I don't know if I woulda survived my partying days if Paul's music had been around 🤣. Absolute bangers.
Ha ha good call!
That ain't no bullshit this cat daddy's music is perfect for the world to live with
No doubt fuckin A
I do know....I'd be dead or in federal prison! LOL
no shit lol
God bless this man for reviving my desire for music.
What a epic track. men , never knew i needed this
I'm really good at recognizing the artists that will make it big, before they blow up. This is one of those artists. Wish I could buy stock in musicians, I would be rich.
When I moved to Detroit for school in 1995, Kid Rock and Eminem were still local performers, for the most part. Go figure.
Whole heartedly agree .. when you figure out how to do so let me know lol.
You were wrong
God bless Texas country
This just put me in the best mood 😁💃🐎
He’s amazing to see live. Beautiful, strong vocals. His stage presence is powerful and so entertaining.
He's a lot of fun live. I saw him with cody jinks last summer at red rocks in colorado and he was excellent. I was blown away.
Anthony Michael I’ve seen Cody Jinks live and he was amazing. Can only imagine these two together. Jealous!
One of the best shows I've ever seen on a Tuesday for a crowd of maybe 30-40 people.
He really is great live!
Last year my best friend and I listened to CCD almost every day and this last Saturday we finally got to see this man live. No words can express Paul's energy on stage. Your future is bright, Big Velvet! Amazing stuff.
Outlaw country never dies, it evolves...
Different level!! Raw talent against the grain 💯
He is Elvis, Davis Bowie, Waylon, and Jonnie Cash combined, phenomenal!
Yeah I don't know about that...why not just throw Jesus up in there too
Absolutely true! But give it a little bit of the Boss too.
yea !! so wild and free! Go Paul and never stop !
It's so uncommon to hear a country singer actually sing without sounding like a cliche.
Try some Charley Crockett or Sturgill Simpson
Big Velvet! This is solid country Gold!
I've never heard of Paul until I got a notification that there was something new by Orville Peck. 2019 I discovered Orville Peck and in 2020 I discovered Paul Cauthen. And holy Doodle, am I ever a happy woman!
Check out Colter Wall too.
@@n8higgins Thanks! I'll do that now.
@@n8higgins I'm listening to Summer Wages and I'm already hooked. Thanks for the recommendation!
the same ... incredible
enjoy the ride :)
Greetings from Germany. THX for this song. 😁😁👌👌👌👌👌👌👍👍
Heard about Paul Cauthen from Josh Arnold on the Bob & Tom Show. I've played this song 30 times in 3 days, easily. CANNOT GET ENOUGH.
Wow! I have not heard anything like this in so long. Outlaw country for us!
I was lucky enough to grow up on a farm in North Texas in the 90s. We had some of the GREATEST country music ever at our fingertips. But I always felt like something was missing. Your sound sir.
Matt D., isn’t that the truth!
paul's music always feels like something i would have heard on the radio as a kid in the 70s, but thankfully in the hear and now (bad pun intended)
Yea he is old news . This junk aint even considered 70 maybe so underrated 50 music. His lyrics are something a kid would think of no sense
Broken Spoke is where my parents met in the early 80s.
I’ve heard so many stories. I’ve spent a few great nights there myself.
Late edit: my father was friends with the legendary Tuff Hedeman; they both rode bulls together. My father approached my mother, and tried to introduce them but instead they ended up together. Crazy stories.
This guy is the real deal.
This song is an absolute BANGER!!!
That’s exactly how I dance in my head when I’m listening to this song
It may not look this pretty when I do it, but if y'all could just cut me a break and pretend it looks as smooth as it does in my head, that'd be great.
Hangin with Shaky Graves now you have my attention. Legends to be!
These videos are awesome! Great style. Love the music blend.
A fucking masterpiece. Epic. Timeless. Off the charts for real.

I just found Paul's music and have been hooked since. His voice and style.... 💗

This song should have 2 mil views by now one of my favorite newer country songs reminds me of oldies real country music
This just blows the doors off of everything! Feelin the love!

If you have a guitar go ahead and get you a phase 90 pedal and pluck a few chords. You'll be in heaven for a bit!
It’s both. It’s a steel guitar and a voice.

Agree. Video distracts from the haunting nature of the song.

I changed my mind. This is the one.
Just found this guy a couple of days ago. This is all new to me!! Yay!
Saw Paul live at tumbleweeds in Kansas City. He opened up for Whitey Morgan and Cody Jinks. Was one of the best concerts I've ever seen.
My new favourite musician. And I love the video style too. Hope he comes back to Scotland soon!
Still don't know how this hasn't been number 1.
because its a bording school kid who is playing a character?
Fire! I'm getting those old school Millsap funk feelings. I love it!
I saw Ronnie live. He told his guitar player he wanted to get closer to the audience, and asked how far he was from the edge of the stage. “You got a good 20 feet Ron.”

Dont miss Paul if he comes to your town. Saw him as a one man show opening for Ryan bingham and he was great..
J Barrett I'll agree to that!
I hadn't heard of him yet and I missed his set when he opened for Bingham and Fallon. I will never forgive myself. (But I did see him last week with his band in DC and it was one of the best times I've ever had at a show.)
Saw him open for Margo Price in San Antonio. He was great.

well I've been hearing this song for a little bit now, and I'm still waiting for it to make it to the country radio stations. Somehow they just don't play the song. Freaking corporate country music sucks. This is what country western music sounds like.
Played yesterday at about 1 pm PST on Outlaw Country .
saw him in ABQ new mexico, he was the show...would see him again in a sec! He and his band have the sound that is missing in todays country music.
Cool moves dude...I watch this all the time and just love it😂😂❤❤
Kick ass song and video. Geetings from the UK.
Great video!! This is who u need to hear when you're depressed..lol😂😂😂 he' s awesome
This is without a doubt the best modern country song. It makes me want to move to Texas immediately.
Excellent production, song, directing and voice!
Watching this in 2021 like “aw man, I remember meeting friends at the bar.”
Brought me to tears. lol
I still can't believe I had to go to North Carolina to hear this song.
New fan. Pauls songs kickass. The Big Velvet!
Broken Spoke is such a wonderful bar. Hopefully Austin doesn't change it too much!
@Holli Jackson he was born in tyler texas
Wow this songs great and this video is turning country up a notch, about time!
Got to be one of the best videos I've ever seen
Amarillo radio doesn't have the balls to play this song! Nothing but Nashville! I had to go to North Carolina to hear this song.
