Great video. The secret to happiness truly is to spend money on experiences, not things :)
But things can also lead to experiences, like a car or a bike. Or sport equipment. hmmm, are things experience or are things money? if things are money... are things time, since time is money? what if time gives you hapiness can you actually buy hapiness now that time is money?
Michael Dowse It's a known constant
Michael Dowse No, check your sources. It's a know fact;
Time = $$$ Dolla Dolla Bills $$$
So much time do you have in your bank account?
I bet you don’t have kids 😄
I have put travel as a priority at this point in my life. I work 30-33 hrs/week, but I get 3-4 weeks vacation a year on top of 2 weeks of at christmas, perfect enough for 1 or 2 big trips a year!! I get a lot of "wows" and confusion from a lot of people older than me, wondering how I do so. I have a humble 1200 sq ft home well within our budget, 5 mins drive to work, cheap fuel efficient car with no payments that I may have to fill up every 2-3 weeks, costco and limited restaurant visits. Invest your money in YOUR passion.
Starbucks, Netflix, Ubers...it all adds up. I took a lot from this video, thanks Nadine. I'm back with my rents, saving for a big Australia trip next year. Wish me luck!
Mary Nguyen thanks Mary!!
I legit went on couchsurfing to find a guy that is giving me a couch 1 a week closer to my school to save money on gas (10$ a week more towards traveling) doesnt seem like much but over 3 years of school I managed to put enough aside from this little tip to pay for a WHOLE MONTH in thailand... totally worth it. Made a very good friend and discovered a wonderfull place
Am I the only one that loves the way she says "about"? Great video....thanks for sharing Nadine!
Nadine is such an underrated RUclipsr! I love her videos! Super informative and helpful and always entertaining 👍🏼
Julissa Martin she really is
i think i just gave a guesstimate budget that only exists in my head but I don't have any debt or loans. I have a travel savings account and I've been able save with things like food, groceries, making my own lunch and coffees etc
Anyone can afford to travel. The more luxurious you plan to travel then the more expensive it'll be. Same goes for how fast you plan on traveling (walking, bus, driving, flying). I reccomend living like a local and asking the local for recommendations. You get a whole lot more out of your travels in my opinion.
Your suggestion about moving closer to work is a great one. I did that for other reasons and was amazed at how much money I saved on gas, tires and maintenance.
Selling a lot of old things paid for 75% of all expenses for my Spain trip! So worth the time and effort
Annnnd this is why you're my favorite travel vlogger! Great tips and solid information. Also, I love the spreadsheet you give us! Brilliant!
some very solid advice. While we saved for our 2 year trip that we are currently on we got bikes to get to work, and had super cheap cars that we actually sold for more then we paid for. I love my cold brew Starbucks before my later shifts at work so I learned how to make my own. I bought the Starbucks Coffee bulk at Costco. We said we could only eat out once a week, and tried to get friends to meet at the cheap local restaurants or just at the beach for drinks. We had month to month cell phone bills that were very cheap. We worked to keep our monthly bills to just insurance, rent, phone, Internet.
I crave travel 100% of the time. love your videos!
Thanks Nadine! Your tips and vids give me insp and confidence! 😊❤
I love this vlog so much. Keep up your good work
This was a really helpful video Nadine, thank you! I've just graduated university and my plan is to work full time as much as I can for a year and save save save and then go travelling next year! Your videos are a huuuuge help! Much love!
Your channel is gold!!! Thank you so much for being so thorough! All my biggest fears have been sated with your videos. It really takes the edge off traveling alone too
It's true, you do not have to be rich to travel, and even travelling in expensive countries like Japan (I'm currently in Tokyo) can be done cheaply if you are frugal with your money. The most expensive aspect of travel are flights and accommodation. To save money on accommodation I've done volunteering in return for free place to stay, or, house sitting, which I've yet to do yet. It's important to do your research before you travel to save the most money, from my own experiences.
I want to travel but am nervous about having the money to travel
this advice was so helpful! love your videos!
The Canadian comes out hardcore when she says 'about'
AdamDoesStuff not just that, also "Budget" 😂😂
Ask a Canadian to say "Preoccupied" 😂
Great video! Some things are so obvious but we need a reminder for them :) I try to save more money and now I will use some of your advices too.
I think this video is super great!!! I do all of this and have been for the past two years. I use the Daily Budget app to help me budget and it works pretty well. Doing this I have gotten to travel once each year for a two week vacation. Of course I would like to travel more, but this is a great start!
a great tip to travel, if you follow her advices, is coming to Brazil's Carnival! Come here, guys!
This video was awesome, also I'm loving your new set up, nice money boards 😃
Omg, spreadsheets! I got way too excited when I heard you say spreadsheets! They're so awesome! Thank you!!!
Great ideas! I'd just mention that if you're planning to work remotely from another country, be sure that it's 100% legal to do so and if you'd be liable for paying tax, etc in that country, or need any kind of visas or paperwork beforehand. My partner wanted to do his online remote job whilst visiting me in the UK but we found out that's very illegal to just come over & keep working without having permission to first!
Planning on selling my second car and change my spending habits such as buying new clothes and eating out.
By the way, your office looks awesome 😊
This is going to help me sooooo much!!!!!!!! Thank you!!
Thank you so much Nadine, you ate very helpful💜🌼🌸💜
Thanks for this, Nadine!
I'm currently travelling, before I asked my work if they could keep half of my wages until I leave to go travelling! I was lucky that I worked with my aunty, but still worth a try, or giving half the money into a different bank account or to family to save! :)
Also TRY NOT TO SAVE NEAR CHRISTMAS TIME... I don't know if it's just me but I love Christmas and I go all out for family and friends
You're amazing! Loved this very detailed video! Other videos I've seen just tell you to save but doesn't explain what exactly needs be done in order to travel. You have such great pointers 👍. Keep up the great work!
Great video! I'm so glad I've saved my money so I can travel this summer before I start uni! You have also inspired me to make travel videos and document my time while I'm there 😀 keep up the great work
Hey Nadine, Great video. Keep up the good work. I used to sublet my place but now I rent my room out. I also freelance work and can do it remotely.
This video is amazing, I'm actually shocked at how much unnecessary spending I've been doing 😭I'm wasting about 3/4 of my earnings. Thank you 🙏
This is awesome! Thank you 💖
Great video! Thanks! Your hilarious!!! 😂😂😂
Remove your debt as fast as you can. Life will feel so much better. I removed some debt and it was a lifechanger
Wow great points.. Well noted
This is a great video! Thank you Nadine?
Do you collect/save currency from all the countries you visit? The framed display looks cool. 👍
Just a tip for people, some banks have free budgeting software. Wells Fargo has a good one, but I've also used Golden1. It is nice because it automatically pulls your expenses from credit card charges. But if you use a lot of cash, a set up like Nadine is ideal. :)
+Wander with Intent yes there are lots of great budgeting apps out there!
Hey Nadine thanks! Yeah I live by a budget. I grew up poor and I think I'm always afraid to not be able to afford my life. So I have an excel sheet where I do overall budgeting and I update it yearly, probably something similar to what you are sharing with people. Then I use my banks budget stuff to see how I am hitting my marks monthly.
Legend says Nadine will reply to my comment ♡♡♡ Love you Nadine
I love your vibe Nadine!
I don't agree with cutting out car insurance. If you can get a cheaper package cause you never know. There could be a fire, break in or someone steals your car you won't be insured if you don't have insurance.
Great video! Watching your videos always gives me the Travel Bug!
So funny this video and well done. Change your mindset, make money with your possessions, lower your costs and you are free to go... most of the times 😉
I'm trying to sell more of my stuff but it has become tedious posting each individual thing and meeting with people. I would like a more efficient and quicker way to get rid of these things and make some money. How did you do it? FB groups? Craigslist? Should I try bundling? I have been using LetGo & 5miles and its more of a hassle than its worth. Advise please anyone?
bundle smaller items and work on the bigger items first, then you'll be more encouraged. Yard Sale the smaller, less expensive items, and consignment stores for clothing.
Brittney Yvette Ⓥ poshmark is great and easy for clothes!
Go to pawn shops for electronics and jewelry you no longer need
Loved this & made my boyfriend watch this with me!
I was actually going to make my own spreadsheet, cool that you just happened to make one xD THANKS!
Affiliate marketing is one way to add an income source but it does require some work and commitment to the process of building a business.
I'm about to get my driver's lisence and I live in Canada. problem is I want to go camping in the Rockies this summer. not sure if I should save for a car at the expense of camping, or I should just rent a car for the camping trips I'd like to do but risk enduring yet Another winter waiting for busses in the cold... :/
or maybe there's a way to budget for both?
I feel like I'll never be able to travel; I have a personal dilemma. My rent is my biggest expense at $1200 a month but I refuse to have roommates or share my apartment with anyone. I just can't do it. I value my privacy and clean house too much. I can't really find a cheaper place because I already live in the cheapest apartment complex in my city. When I think about how much it costs to travel, I feel so discouraged. Hopefully one day I will make enough money to just save and go.
Is it possible for you to move back in with your parents? That's always the cheapest accommodation. If not, then sharing your apartment is the sacrifice you might have to make to give you money for travel. However, try the budget thing. You might get a big surprise how much you can save that way.
derekcolman Only have one parent alive and can't move back unfortunately. I will try the budget thing. Thank you
D Lish no matter what happens, whenever you get your pay, put 20$ aside and don't touch it. You'll see how fast it adds up. Then, whenever you leave to visit someone or whatever, put your appartment on airbnb, i assume you live in a big city because of how expensive your rent is. If you have spare rooms, you can still put them on airbnb and stay in it but you'll still have to share your house somehow, even if it's for short period of time. Also, if you're at the max of your savings, think about finding the cheapest flights, cheapest hostels etc.
I used to live in Paris (where my school was) and the rent was enormous, and that's how I saved money for my graduation trip :D
D Lish I don't make a lot of money, but I went to Maui last year for 6days. I camped for 4nights and last night in a fancy hotel. I bought my tickets way advanced tho. I also researched when it's cheap to go to Hawaii (food, lodging, tours and flight). Having a travel companion makes it cheaper, too.
Thanks for the suggestions... That is really smart to camp for 4 nights and sleep in a hotel on the last night. I like that idea. Again thank you for the suggestions
How much do you think it'd cost to get from Amsterdam to Auckland (New Zealand) and travel NZ for a month? Im 15 atm and i am currently saving money to be able to travel when i turn 18. Would lose to know how much i should be aiming for!
I hate budgeting because my income varies but I don't spend that much anyway
Awesome! Thanks Nadine!
Im good on not eating out much these days. But still working hard at making money
Plan budget plan Budget.
Stick to the plan, the budget will follow.
Work hard like no one else so one day you can travel like no one else
i put £500 from my wage today into a different bank account to try and save but i know it's gonna be so hard 😫
Love these spreadsheets, I am such a numbers nerd and do the same.
Love this!
You are amazing!
I wish mortgage was my highest expense. Even with a big house we pay way more each month in daycare.
Hi Nadine , why your views really down compares to your subscribers ?
Ibnfatota ابن فطوطة I was wondering the same.. I don't know why, she got amazing vibes and tips
She's made a video a few months back about how even though she puts hard work in her video's the engagement rates of viewers are low (it was a bit after the new algorythm, around the time when other youtubers made the same kind of video's, but for Nadine it was a trend rather than something new). There was no real explanation for it :/
It is because she started her RUclips channel an about 10 years ago. Many people added her then but do not use their account anymore or just don't watch her but they are still subscribed.
Nice video :) To be honest, budgeting never worked for me. I don't think it's sustainable. You get motivated to "budget" for like a month and then you give up.
I did some more research and found out about an even more effective way which doesn't really have a name but I like to call it "allocating". I love this method because it allows ANYONE on ANY INCOME to save without giving up little treats (because despite what everyone seems to think, you don't have to cut out the things you want either).
I also love this way because you get rid of that guilt when you do splurge because you realise that you actually can afford that. I won't go into it more here but I have just decided that I'm going to make a video about it :)
You can take away my house my car my food but stay the hell away from my netflix
Ben Adams Productions preach
smart advices. you sound like Gail Vaz Oxlade. However, do not travel while you're in debt. better to pay off the debt first, then, start saving for the trip. It's the smart thing to do.
depends what type of debt. Student loans debt last for YEARS, and generally have a low interest rate. Credit cards on the other hand...
Hey Nadine obv, don't travel with credit card debt...it's stupid.... student loan, debatable..... nice video overall 😁
And also visit the best places in your own city as well. (y)
I just moved back in with my parents, partly to save money :) Just a few months until I go to Australia
Same, although Australia is about a year away for me!
How about flight attendant?
THE DESK THOOOOO
Saving is only half the battle, I saved 15,000 but trying to find the balls to book that plane ticket is the hard part im struggling with :(
Kane1993x I just booked mine! November 1st one way Bangkok 😊
Kane1993x try to get inspiration from travelling videos and travel in the continent that inspires you the most. For example I would love to do a Europe tour by train/bus during a month. (But it is easier for me because I am from Belgium) hope that gives you an idea :)
Congrats dude, Hopefully be heading that way myself come january if I can find the courage
Does anyone have any experience with buying a car in new zealand and then selling it when they leave?? Specifically a camper van. I don't want to go the juicy rout.. thanks! :)
OMG! I see and Trinidad and Tobago dollar!
those money from around the world is wise
Good video but most banks already provide budgeting options and "save for something" options on their online banking websites so you don't have to do this extensive and meticulous method of writing everything on paper. Also, I feel like this video is more so targeted towards people who have full-time jobs, as a student with no other duties it is quite simple, you get a job and save depending how many hours you work and minimum wage in your country (best to set a goal like I will save by this date... and so forth). Of course, if you are paying for school and rent this becomes near impossible as a student unless you have wealthy parents. The whole discount system on most booking websites (trust me as someone super organised I double check every website) is not good they expect you to consider 2k,3k,4k for a decent vacation "affordable" (obvs there are like cheaper but you have to cut down on a normal hotel room and food services and it becomes not enjoyable) as a student that is not even close to affordable... Again, I have watched your video explaining how you started travelling but that is a subjective thing you had the chance and means to do that and that's awesome obvs but not all students can become avid travelers so soon and where I live, Montreal, to be an international student or to do any travelling of any sort on a frequent basis for school or for fun is really expensive like even if you save if you have duties elsewhere like school or rent forget it that is not happening.
Cannot see anything you are writting in green : (
I'm so not used to see you with the dark hair :D
What if l have a drug problem?
jay turner You should get help and quit. Drugs are a waste of life.
But l really like them
jay turner That's because your body is addicted. Hate to break it to you but you will never have a truly healthy and successful life if you are doing drugs.
can you make a video about working in a cruise ship? how to?
wenny claudia I work on a cruise ship! I have a bunch of videos of it on my channel!
How you doin? (Joey Tribbiani from Friends reference) I've got my own plan....hear me out. Hey Nadine, will you take me traveling with you? ;o)
Hey Nadine cool video I like the Idea, but why do you only tell you audience all these things while sitting in front of your computer? instead you could show how you safe money with your tricks in your personal life and then go on travel and show in a kinda volg. vibe how you actually safe money on the road. No offence, this video is still very informative and can help a lot of people but I thing otherwise would be a lot more enjoyable to watch.
Greetings from Germany
well this is saving up BEFORE you go travel, kinda hard to show things like, getting a new job, or extra jobs. As lovely as an idea that is, to do that type of video is very time consuming and difficult. a week minimum to do just that. but thank you for your idea :) I will however incorporate some tips and advice into my vlogs, as I film them :)
Reduce needs:I haven't eaten for a week LOL
What a incredible advices. You think people are idiot.?
travel? I have no money for food
How to save money for travel - make "saving money for travel" your #1 priority.
I found out I spend most of my extra money on eating out
I've found that many people haven't even fully explored their own backyard. It's a lot cheaper and you could find secret spots!
Check out my very first travel video I've made! ruclips.net/video/jzVtlDKbJKA/видео.html
5:08-5:15 do this alone and save a stupid amount of money...
Did she just said everybody has a debt? I don't have a debt. I don't want to have a debt. Why would I have one???
s siamka Your car(maybe), your house,
No, thank you. I spend what I earn. No more. I am sure there are many people like that. I don't want to be dependant on the government or a private company in this matter.
I understand there might be special circumstances when it is necessary such us natural disaster destroyed my house, illness or an unexpected child but otherwise why would one agree to use money he or she doesn't own?
s siamka To speed things up, litteraly, they don't want to wait and use their savings so they ask for money
Mohamed Lazreg I understand but I still don't like it. Well everybody chooses what they think is the best for them. ✌️🙂💸
Debt. Pay that shit off. Interest can work for or against you. Your choice. Kill the cable.
When you don’t even have enough money for your needs #growinguppoor I wish I could afford to eat out...
Another way to earn more money is by driving for uber/lyft/postmates
I tried selling my soul to the devil and I still couldn't get $$$ =( love your content lol

And how did you land on this planet?
Money is an important part of travel?
