- Today we're gonna be looking at the The Dawn Era mod, a spectacular dinosaur mod made by _X1sh_, Astemir & others. The mod includes LOADS of dinosaur mobs, new items like eggs, saddles, dino armor & dino meats; as well as a few blocks.
My favorite dino mob by far has to be the Tyrannosaurs!

Hi, actually this glitch with player rotation on dino's is rubidium/optifine issue!

I feel obligated to mention that the t.rex turning into a chicken thing is a myth, all birds are equally related to t.rex no matter what the species is

Essentially it boils down to the fact that a chicken is related to T. rex in the sense that they're both the same type of animal, but not a direct descendant. Just like how T. rex and Triceratops are related in the sense that they are both dinosaurs, but very obviously not a part of the same family (or whatever term you use for it). They're both basically their own thing.
The thing is we will never know T. rex's direct descendant because it's extinct, and never survived to evolve further into today.
Yep, actually all birds (including chicken) are dinosaur. If T-rex still existed, they would be cousins, just like we are related to other great apes. Birds are the only remaining dinosaurs, making crocodiles their living closest relative, since crocodiles and dinosaur share a close common ancestor (tho crocodiles aren't dinosaur)

Dunkleosteus was a placoderm, a now-extinct clade of prehistoric armored fishes.
Dimorphodon is a pterosaur.

@@A-chef-plays Just to add some more detail, pterosaurs include a lot of the flying 'dinosaurs' you are probably familiar with, such as pteranodons. This was still a very closely related group to dinosaurs though. Also coelacanth is pronounced sea lo canth. Oh, also struthiomimus was not a rapotor (or dromaeosaurid as they are technically called), it was an omnivore which belonged to the ornithomimidae family, which is the same family as gallimimus (the brownish-orange long necked ones which nearly trampled Alan and the kids while running from the t-rex in the first jurassic park movie). Just felt like adding more detail since you seemed to appreciate the other clarifications and I felt more could be given

Pterosaurs is one I haven’t heard pf yet, cool to learn that’s the term for the “flying Dino’s”.
And for the coelacanth someone mentioned how to pronounce it :)

Struthiomimus is actually a herbivorous ornithomimosaur, like the gallimimus from Jurassic Park.
Dimorphodon and the water creatures aren't dinosaurs either, dinosaurs were only the ones that were terrestrial (and semi-aquatic in very rare occasions). You have flying reptiles, marine reptiles, and dinosaurs. Then this mod also includes some fish, but those aren't reptiles at all

This is just beautiful the level of details is insane this just shows how much effort was put into this mod truly majestic i hope they add more dinosaurs and more armor and fix the riding but overall just epic do they have a discord server

also the riding issue was due to a certain optimization mod I had on that made that issue occur.

On top of the rex using the jp sounds, a lot of the mods other sounds are definitely isle inspired as you can hear the same calls from the same dinosaurs in the isle like the diabloceratops and psitacosaurus for example

5:40 One thing everyone gets wrong about dinosaurs, and all animals in general, is that herbivore≠harmless and docile. They're not like cows. They're wild animals, and wild animals like their personal space.
i LOVE the designs. they are vanilla yet accurate. only issue imo is struithiomimus, would've made it more like an emu but i still love it.

every single day, the new minecraft mods are made so much better
I love this mod! It's great! 😊 There are a few nitpicks. I do think this mod is a bit unrealistic in the sense of balance but hey that's fine! It's a game after all. Also I think they are a bit vanilla plus which is also very fine because they are very high quality. And I do think they should spawn in a new dimension or biome. I don't know. It feels off that they spawn anywhere but it's fine, Im sure this will be added. 👍 Comparing this with Alex's Caves it's honestly really good. Both are great mods to have. Honestly I am a bit mad that this mod has so low downloads. 🤩🤩🤩

@@KyuuDesperation In short yes. I grew up watching him, he was really the only Mc RUclipsr I’d watch as a kid, & so the aesthetic of my channel/content is to be sort of “old-school”.
The intro song is also his old one but a different part of it, it’s sort of a reference to him.
@@rubendutoit8762 trex is the biggest since "biggest" means the one with the most mass. spinosaurus was longer and maybe taller(not sure) and giganotosaurus was taller and longer than trex while being a lot slimmer, so not as massive

This Mod Has Male And Female Dinosaurs For Every Mob Except Pond Snail And Worm With Males Having More Colors Or Brighter Colors
Fish and aquatic reptiles are not dinosaurs either. Same thing with pterasaurs. They are flying reptiles. Just like how we arent lizards because we just so happen to live during the same time as them xD. Im sorry to rant, but i like how you showcased this mod and i like your laid back approach. Alot of the time the people are way too loud and too much. 👍

i like how they look similar to the alex's caves dinosaurs, in my head-canon these are the ones that didn't evolve/adapt after living underground for so long

See this is why I’m always nervous about adding dinosaurs to my own mods because there’s always these amazing dinosaur mods like this one. Making a giant mothra was so hard, and it’s so impressive how well they’ve made these large mobs fit into the world.

How to tame em in survival?
I learned you have to drop raw meat for carnivores, or plants like leaf blocks &/or crops for herbivores, let them eat it & they’ll get tamed up!

From what I heard, you throw raw meat on the ground and carnivores will attempt to eat them, & they should take.
Same applies for herbivore & omnivore dinos.

The dinosaurs spawn naturally in your map in this mod?
Yes, the dinosaurs spawn all over the over world, just unsure on which biomes they specifically spawn in. I know for sure the T. rex spawn in plains biomes.

It might be a good idea to set a tone the mods you have installed, as it may be much for your device, it also might be good to look into optimizing mods, hope this helps :)
actualy there nothing makes problem on launch except astrallib and dawnera so the problem weirdly happening nothing blocking to working

Not true. The T-rex lineage branched off way before birds existed. There are other Tyrannosauroids that could be considered the T-rex's closest relative. T-rex is related to the sparrow as equally as it is related to every other bird species

just to critique the mod a bit:
i like the models, they're pretty close to reality, without pronated hands and stuff, really looks like they put a lot of care into making the models as accurate as possible. except for the baby trex, those would be slim and quick (a juvenile tyrannosaurus would be cool, since when its about half the full-grown size, it would be very slim and quick, unlike the bulkier adults).
most of the textures are inaccurate, but it's fine since those are very stylised.
the sounds... are just from JP(jurassic park) so those are all wrong (dinosaurs couldnt roar, they would make very deep sounds and other sounds more similar to crocodiles since they didnt have the syrinx(i think) that birds use to make sounds). the thing where you tell dinosaurs to roar is interesting, and if they make the sounds more accurate it would be fun if, instead of a roar button, you could make them use sounds to communicate, like making others of the same species less aggressive and/or asking for help to attack something.
also, big dinosaurs, just like big animals today (or maybe just the elephants, im too lazy to see if others have it too), have cushion pads on their feet, that allow them to step without causing tiny earthquakes, and allow them to walk very silently. it is actually believed that tyrannosaurs would be able to walk silently just like modern elephants can.
the behavior is really weird, as it seems all of the carnivorous animals scream loudly right before starting to run after something, which makes no sense for any predatory animal to do, since that would scare away whatever theyre hunting and thus have less chance of catching prey. they also seem to kill everything they can instead of just killing enough to feed, which is another thing that the creators seem to have taken directly from JP. herbivorous animals seem to act in a more realistic way, but when there's a baby nearby, it could be seen as warning whatever got too close, but they just keep running until the thing is dead.
my suggestion is that carnivorous animals would only try to kill something if theyre hungry or the thing is getting too close.
and instead of herbivorous animals screaming and killing anything that isnt the same species when there's a baby around, they could instead do something that warns and scares away things that are close to them, and if the thing they warned doesnt go away, then they should attack.
now some facts you got wrong in the video:
chickens aren't the closest living relatives to TRex, all birds are.
there are no aquatic non-avian dinosaurs, the closest is spinosaurus, which is only semi-aquatic. (and maybe a recently found ankylosaurid, but that needs more study)
the "coe" in "coelacanth" is pronounced like "see", you pronounced the rest correctly
the back part of the ceratopsids' (triceratops and similar dinosaurs) skull is called a frill, not a fan
anyway, its a good mod and a good video. I did like the video more than the mod itself though
I think the idea of the mod is suppose to be more fun and “cooler” appearing, kind of like how Jp just made Dino’s in the movies with a lot of inaccuracies.
The behavior of them roaring before attacking is very likely the same ai used from the warden mob, where it roars before engaging in attacks. Also probs just used for the “coolness” of the mob even if it’s something they wouldn’t do irl.
When I search up what birds today are more closely related to a tyrannosaurus, I usually get the answer of chicken & ostriches, maybe it’s wrong or just being too specific but yeah I wouldn’t doubt any bird is closely related to any dinosaur.
And thanks for the clarification on how to pronounce them, Dino names r usually very difficult to pronounce lol.

the idea that its purposefully inaccurate so that it's cooler makes sense, i guess i just got sad because of how accurate most of the models are.
the roaring before attacking probably is there just to warn the player that a big dinosaur is nearby, since they seem to have worked a lot on this mod and just taking the behavior directly from the warden seems kind of lazy (though yeah, it is cool)
i guess people just relate flightless birds to dinosaurs because those were also flightless (except for the birds themselves), so it makes sense, though i don't think there is any way one bird is more related to other dinosaurs than a different bird. also the closest relative to dinosaurs would be crocodilians since birds are themselves dinosarus

@@ratqt. Fossils and archeology has an update coming that will add more animals, and change every model to be extremely accurate. So that's prob more of a mod you'd like.
