I feel like this is a biased take. Yes Naruto does have more traditionally appealing design. It seems you are implying tho that because of this design it means it tells a worse story or has weaker characters. I’m a fan of both but it just isn’t true that you can count the number of strong story Naruto characters “on one hand”. Like one piece most of the central characters are truly amazing and have compelling stories. Yes Naruto has some characters it could have developed better. It definitely isn’t perfect. But also remember the length. If you take out filler, Naruto is severely shorter than one piece. And yet even with this limited time it has managed to flesh out a compelling lore and characters. Both shows are great but to say that Naruto is worse due tot he reasons you mentioned is inaccurate I think. Also yes design is often a plus for anime, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. Naruto manages to tell a good story and uses its design as a bonus. And it is not true that its design is the main reason it got popular. Originally when Naruto was blowing up in the early 2000s the design was not that amazing anyways. In shippuden the animation became far better but again that doesn’t mean that that was the only reason is so hyped.
Yes, but it seems you didn’t understand the point of what I was saying. I didn’t say that one project is worse than another. I was talking about how two geniuses in their field sell their work. And I also didn’t say in this video that one project is worse than another.
