Thanks for the tour Simon! It is very timely, as I have just subscribed to your channel, and am in the process of getting to know you and your work. I'm in Australia, and have just started card making after giving up previous crafting four years ago because of illness. So, I am keen to source good looking storage solutions (on a budget). I've taken notes on your suppliers and especially appreciated your advice on daylight LED bulbs for crafting, as my eyesight is not quite as good these days! See you around!
Wow... your craft room is nice. I encouraged my husband to replace our CFL bulbs with daylight LEDs. My craft room is wherever I set up, LOL, so daylight lighting and and small daylight task lamp are essential.
I can’t imagine ever having an empty drawer! 😂 I admire your organization....especially after just moving! I’m still unpacking stuff from moving 9 years ago lol. That stamp pad unit makes me think of my cassette tape storage unit (you’re too young to know cassette tapes lol) but it is wood and would work for that. I bought a large storage cabinet (the Dream Box) and it has been a game changer for storage and work space. I like that you mention lighting....very important for creating! I use Ott light which provides natural daylight spectrum, or....if it’s daytime I have large windows! Not sure I would like working in a basement but I bet your space will be terrific! TYFS ❤️🦋💜
A cassette storage rack would be perfect for ink pads. Sadly, I was not that organized in my youth and stored my cassettes in shoe boxes, LOL. Open CD storage bins can be used to store dies sideways (if you do not have billions of dies)--I am still looking for an inexpensive option to store my dies.
M 3 I had a bunch of vent/register covers from my moms house when she moved out, they are magnetic. I glued them to the doors of my storage cabinet so all my dies are open & visible (what areas were not covered I purchased magnetic sheets from amazon....not expensive).
A new start that's a great way to go I live your card stark storage I have one that's like that. I'm 50 years old and I've been making cards for almost 2 years love watching your videos. Enjoy your day
I've just moved into my new crafy space and I'm still reorganising it to help it flow nicely for me, the best item I has bought has to be the craft cart, I actually bought 2, they are fantastic and can store so much, I do recommend them to anyone who has a craft space.
The daylight bulbs make a world of difference. I love that desk. I am going to put something together with a carpenter and the cabinet units from IKEA. Thanks for sharing.
I agree about the daylight bulbs. I talked my husband into replacing all dead CFL bulbs with daylight LEDs. My craft room is wherever I set up so it is nice to have daylight lighting (and a small daylight task lamp) all around the house.
Nice workspace, thanks for sharing! Greatly enjoy your positive, upbeat attitude! 👍 As a newbie to cardmaking, your enthusiasm is my encouragement. I’m looking forward to what you will create in your new space. Cheers! 👍
Temporary craft room looks great! After seeing it in a previous video, I bought the pure luxury bin and dividers - they’re great for organizing dies that previously all fell over due to the weight!
Daylight globes for your lighting.....how did I not know about this lol? Thanks for the heads up. I tend to craft during the day because my lighting at night makes it hard when I work with colours. Many an awful colour combo has come about from crafting at night with my clearly "bad lighting". Complete game changer! Have an awesome day. Cheers Donna Z :)
Your new space looks really comfy and cozy! I hope you’ll take us along with you on creating your next space. It will be exciting to see it from start to finish!
Love the garbage can... I have one in my kitchen and it's supper easy to remove the bag and if I over fill I don't have to worry about the garbage falling out when I remove the bag 😂
O wow..I am new to your channel. Love your card making techniques. I am just confused about inks. Can you explain how many types of inks and the difference between them? I want to order but I don’t because I don’t know what to order. And also can you make a detailed video on big shot, embossing machine etc. I really want to learn. Your videos are antidepressants seriously. Thank you
Hi Simon. Great ideas in this video. I am also turning part of my basement into a craft room. Now I know what kind of lighting to have. Thanks Dude. Lol 😆
Oh Simon..You are so much more organized than I am. I must say that I love your ink storage. BTW my Simon Hurley inks arrived. I could only get 3 , but they were in the same color range ( red )so now I start using them. Little at a time.
Simon, I want to know where you got that cool lighting fixture above your desk. I need something like that for my new craft room that we are going to build!!! Love your temp space and cannot wait to see your new room!!
Do/have you ever used a die cutting machine (like a Cricut) for making any cards? I bought a Cricut Joy and I LOVE it. Of course I don't use inking supplies when I make cards. What do you do with all the cards you make? Usually I just make for family &friends for birthdays or whatever. So I don't use it as much as I would like to. (I don't have a lot of friends. Mostly family.) How long have you been making cards? You're so good at it for being so young. Can't wait to see your craft room when it's done. My craft room is a table in our (my and my hubby, Tim's) bedroom and storage shelves in our living room. Great video.
Patty, if you enjoy making cards but don’t have a lot of people to give them to you can donate them to charities that send them to seniors and others. Bring Smiles to Seniors is my favorite. They take all kinds of cheerful cards whether you just want to make a few or dozens.
Hi Simon. Thanks for sharing your new temporary craft room. Your storage tips are helpful. I’m alway looking for new ways to keep my supplies. Where did you get the storage unit that is holding four color pens? Have a great week Maggie
Hi simon, I love your new temporary space! I have watched a few of your craft room videos and I can’t seem to find anywhere where you got your lighting fixture! Would you please share that? My studio is in desperate need of ceiling lighting and something like the one you have I think will do the trick! Thanks a bunch!,
Were you able to get the overhead lighting you had mentioned? If not - maybe just until you get what you want - make a bridge of sorts with those light weight lighting strips mounted under the edge? Hope it’s working for you these days.
QUESTION, SIMON ... I looked up "Clearview desks" on the internet and was directed to Lyon Company products -- not what I was going for!! Do you have any further info on "Clearview"? I realize it's been 3 yrs ago -- and your new space may not even contain the same equipment, but -- I'm hoping you can give info regarding the TOP RIGHT DRAWER, containing your crafting tools, etc.; can you tell me HOW DEEP that drawer is, and whether it's a CUSTOM CABINET, or was it a stock one of some kind? I noted that that unit has 3 drawers, but my 3 drawer units have only a 3 ¾" clearance in their top drawers!
Always check with the ink pad manufacturers for the best way to store their products. My ink pads from Ranger can be stored on their sides with no problem. :)
If your asking about stamps yes. Ink pads I like to lay flat no matter what the manufacturer says. I don't want the one unruly pad to ruin my drawer by leaking.
Hey friends! Hope you enjoyed the craft room tour. :)

BTW....that Boon thing makes me think of large PVC pipes....I did see a video somewhere that someone used PVC to make holders like that. Nifty idea.
@@cindyhenry1410 yes, I've seen a similar home made one.

Your table top is beautiful!!!!
Your tour of your temporary space was nice. The rug is needed. Your camera setup and lighting looks like it works well in the basement. Have fun!

Those drawers would really help to clear my work table. Thanks for the run through!
Totally! Big drawers are the best to get items off your desk so that you have more room to create. :)

Yay, a new (if temporary) crafting space! It looks really nice. I love that desk chair! Your desk is awesome too. Thanks for showing us around!
Thanks! I loved the desk chair too... adds a bit of personality. :)

Great you can create again!
Awesome! Congrats on your temporary space and soon to be new space!
Great use of space. Thanks for sharing
Nice set up Simon.
Great space! I love your desk and chair. 8-)
(( The chair is classy looking, but skooching it back away from the desk will be problematic with no wheels!! ))

I’m enjoying watching your journey. Can’t wait to see the end results.
Thanks Noel! :)
Love the desk drawers. Is there a link available for where you bought them? What i like about them is how smoothly they open and that they seem deep.

Very nice!
Love it great tfs
Do you miss your other supplies? I can’t wait to see the finished craft room.
Congrats!
Love this area and your desk. I thought you weren't supposed to ink pads on their side, just flat on back or front.
Simon how about a rubber mat for the floor..very easy clean up :) Can harldy wait for new craft room Dude
How did you get rid of your unused stuff? Did you sell them, give them away, or something else?

They are called Clearvue. Spelled a bit weird. I love them… but they were INCREDIBLY difficult to put together so beware of that. :)

Is it OK to store the stamps on their sides and not flat?

Looking good until your new room is complete. I cut my paper while watch Sunday night tv.
