My craftroom is a HOT MESS! hahahah I can NEVER keep it together. I clean and it looks like a TORNADO went through it after a couple of visits. Geez! I need to get it together. hahahahaha --- Honestly, the only way it stays clean is when I am not in it. hahahaha
Hi! 1st time viewer here! I was working on my craft rion and quit to rest then I saw your video on organizing!! Great timing. Thanks so much for this info, it'll help me tremendously with getting my space cleaned. Live your style of sorting! Thanks! Hugz, Tree
Hi, Simon! My Dad would have loved you. His machine shop was so clean; you could practically eat off the of the floor and everything had it's place. I don't have a craft room. I usually have a craft lap or maybe a tv tray. :) What I like to do is get storage from the Dollar Tree. They have great bins in bright colors that are hard for me to use. Cheers!
Your an inspiration for other men to show their creative side and for the younger generation demonstrating you can have a talent beyond your years. I look forward to following your channel and personal growth.
Now that you have a new craft room, you started over again! I’ve found lots of times this is a work in progress. Different things become in style, new products and so on!
Simon, you are so right, storage doesn’t have to be fancy. We are crafters, we can make our storage boxes look fantastic. Love your hack about labeling your storage drawers. Take Care. ~Barbara
One additional helpful hint.... small dies and stamps can get lost easily so as I finish with them while crafting, I place them in a small plastic cup. Then when I’m done, they are all together instead of buried under scraps.
Karen Ferraro I also use a magnet sheet on my desk to keep the dies from wondering off if I don’t put them up right away. The magnetic sheets can be found just about anywhere but I get mine from Stamp-n-Storage since they are very sturdy and they often have sales on them. If money is a big issue, you can always go to your local hardware store and pick up a cover that is used over the Register (AC/Heat) they are magnetic as well and cost very little and use it like it is or adhere it onto a sturdy piece of Card stock to make it look less flimsy.
You are so smart to clean up after each project! I'm afraid that I have too many projects going at once, and need to start doing only one at a time. Then clean up before I start another. Great advice!
Ok Simon, I loved the whole video but when you pulled the tidy towel out of that lidded jar, you blew my mind. So smart and attractive on the desk, too. Thanks for a great idea!! Perfect way to keep it ready to use and handy.
Storage perfection. Superb organization. It's inspiring! I have a brain injury which makes organizing very difficult, so I'll be running your video while I tackle the job.
Holy cow, I'm stunned by the AMOUNT of product you have!😲 Looks like whatever item you have, you have EVERY color. But obviously the space available is going to dictate the amount of stuff you have. I don't have much space so I have to be mindful of how much I buy. How wonderful to have so much room for crafting supplies!☺️👍🏻 Thanks for all your tips.
Awesome, do the same method, in my sewing room and craft room. The hand held vacuum is the same one I have used over a year. It is the best, and it looks awesome too. This method works, have done this in my nail salon as well for over 30 years, if you choose this methodology you will never go back. Like sorting out laundry, will use even at home for cleaning. The stamp method for cleaning is great. I use the lawn fawn shammy too. Thank you for showing the real craft room. RESPECT!
Great tips. I'm in a constant organizing flux, but as of yesterday I have a vision for my craft room. Your tips are helpful. I don't want to spend a fortune on IKEA or Stamp and Storage. I've been finding furniture at Estate Sales and using Origami and industrial shelving units. Happy Crafting!!
Thank you, Simon! Being open-minded and on staff at the University of California . . . it is wonderful to learn new things and new techniques from people of all ages, despite my being 40 years beyond your age (even though I feel about 30 in my mind and probably always will). Keep up the great work!
My craft room is the dining area of our kitchen. It was a disorganized mess. I spent several weekends organising it and now it is do easy to start a project and clean up when I'm finished for the day. I have a little bin that I keep my scissors, adhesives and other tools in. Sometimes I just put my whole project fixins in a box because I know I'll be working on it again soon. I love your videos!!
Wonderful wonderful tips!! Especially cleaning the stamps at the end! I spend so much time scrubbing each stamp after it’s use & putting it back on the sheet. If I’m not using it with another color, waiting til the end makes sense. It’s not going to hurt the stamp at all. Thanks Simon!
Since so many towns have recycling centers, I'm adding my comment to suggest you also have a paper recycling box next to the trash can. It's easy to put big and little bits of paper in and definitely good for the environment!
Some great tips here Simon! I've been spending the past year cleaning and organizing my craft room - some of your ideas are already in use and some are new to me and will find a home here. TFS!
Some great tips and tricks. I'm glad you stressed that you've bought some things over a period of time. It's great to Pace your crafty self. Have a nice day.
First of all, THANK YOU for the disclosure. I thought I was the only one whose crafting surface blows up when I'm making art. Seriously, my available work surface shrinks to the size of a dinner plate when I'm making something. Then when I'm done, I have to "get back to zero" so I'm inspired enough to create something else. Great video!
Really loving the format of your video with the various cameras etc. It's really creative. I'm right there with you in keeping things in bins so that they are easy to transport. A couple things I do is I have a magnetic metal bowl (you can find them in the hardware dept for holding nails, etc) and I plunk metal dies in there when I'm done with them. I also have a wire bin that I can just put materials in as I go along and then sort through and put away at the end of my project.
Great Video! And how nice that you have a dedicated craft room. I’m an art teacher on the go and constantly have to pack my stuff up. I get a bit lazy when I bring everything home. I need to organize in order to create. Thanks for sharing!
I loved this and so helpful too. You've really inspired me to tidy your way by going with what's right in front first and grabbing things that match and put away it seems like an easier way than just going through it all and feeling overwhelmed. TFS xx
Simon, although I no longer make cards or do paper craft, I make jewellery and I've been reorganising my craft room recently. I'm still in the process and I came to the same conclusion you mentioned in your video -- it's important to have a place for everything! My craft room got out of hand because I was buying too many supplies at once and I didn't know where to put things, so stuff started piling up and getting hidden or buried. I'm still fairly new at my craft (started about 4 years ago and learning from RUclips tutorials as I go along) so I keep getting lots of beads to build up my stash. Plus, recently I finally discovered that I prefer a certain beading technique more than the others, and that also necessitated changing how I organise my beads because I used to organise them by colour, but now need to organise them by size as the technique I prefer requires specific sizes for various designs! I've spent so much on storage containers and boxes to keep all the small beads safely separated into individual compartments... like you said, it's an investment and it just cannot be helped. Your advice is spot on and very useful! Thank you!
I so loved your tip about cleaning all the stamps at the end! I usually clean and put them away once I use it, only to find I want to use them again for a second card. I can't wait to put this into action!! Thanks!!!
Thank you for your tips and tour. Having a home for everything really is the key. I have been doing a make-over on my room which started from moving from one, smaller, room in our house into a significantly larger one (swapped with the never finished guest room that was becoming too much of a forget about it storage room). I've gone with shelving and boxes rather than drawer units because I am a lot more likely to use and tidy things that are visible than if I hide things away in drawers. If I see it, it reminds me to do something with it. The plus side to that, rail bracket and board shelving with Ikea boxes are a lot cheaper for my immense stash of multiple crafts and stuff. I'm still working out the ideal homes for everything and just added the last wall shelving at the beginning of the month., but I am getting there. I still need to get a hand vac or rather to convince my sweetie I need a hand vac vs just using the full-size. I also really want to re-do the floor and take out the carpet, but that's next year's budget, I think. Because all my shelving is wall-mounted, though, there won't be as much to take out of the room to re-do the floor.
I got some of those Alex drawers for Xmas, and they are great. They go way back, so you can put things in the back you don't use as often, and label the drawer. Thanks for all your great ideas!!
Great tips Simon. My approach has been to let the Tidy-up Elves clean my craft room overnight while I sleep. So far that hasn't worked, not even once! When I'm scrapbooking, I like to have a medium sized plastic container on my desk close at hand for the tiny bits of garbage. Maybe that would help you too, and then it's right there for snips and tape peels etc.
Thank you for this. I finally have my first office/craft room after years and years and I've been trying to figure out exactly this. YT algorithm did something right for a change!
Wow-this was so very helpful!! Thank you! You are such a wonderful young man and I admire you immensely.,I have watched you grow up since your very first video and I have learned so much because you are a truly great teacher. Thank you for everything!!
Hi Simon! After seeing this video it made me feel like I'm not alone in my craft room clutter! I find that as I'm trimming with my paper cutter, I slip all unwanted cuts into a box! This keeps them from piling up on the work surface! When fussy cutting I keep a smaller container on my work surface to deposit small pieces as I go! It seems that the paper clutter is the hardest to manage and this helps me a lot! Your videos are helpful and informative and enjoyable because you keep it moving!!! Thank you for sharing!
Oh my!😯 I became aware of crafting armoires only a few months ago, but hadn't heard of Dreambox. Pricey little number, but I LOVE the customizability of it...and the fact that it has color options other than white. What a fabulous concept overall. ❤
This video came up n I’m In the middle of reorganizing my kitchen/craft room. I got library shelving so I’ve got boxes, n craft boxes… your video gave me some good ideas. I’m storing by trees, leaves, birthday , birds, animals etc we’ll see how it works out. 2nd time reorganizing
Simon, thanks so much for sharing how you store and clean everything. Your room is amazing and I have learned that I need to get more containers. This was a great video.
Thank you for sharing tips and ideas with us. It helped me a lot. My storage changes as supplies grow or I add new crafting skills. I like to see what others do. You are amazing and have such a bright future!
Thanks for the tips, For all those little scraps that end up on your desk I use an empty lid from those large packets of DVD SPINDLE, if you get what I mean, 😊 they are great to have at arms reach to put all those bits of tape scraps and spare, and I have a normal office size bin near my leg for bit bigger scraps.
Hi Simon, thanks for this video, I really enjoyed it! My biggest takeaway was how you collect all the stamps you used during a session and clean them in one go. I'm such a sissy, I always think if I don't clean my stamp right away it may be ruined forever. Which my right half of the brain knows is wrong. So the stamp cleaner, the shammy and the scrub pad constantly get in the way. I will try it your way! Of course, I also agree that having a place for everything helps. With interests and/or styles evolving, the system also needs to be flexible. That's why I totally dig your Alex drawers (and the way you're labeling them), but neither the tins for the mini ink pads nor the wooden storage system for the stamp pads plus refill plus marker (even though I liked how you adapted them for dauber / mini dauber storage). I think that we are being ripped off for storage solutions as crafters. For some items, designs are resuscitated which were long dead - like LP stands for 12" paper and audiotape shelves for ink pads. And marked up, up, up. Then there are items which will only fit a certain range of products. Mini stamp containers - I have to say I don't trust the industry, what if the next generation of mini ink pads will be slightly bigger "due to customer demand"? Why do products often not stack properly (i.e. so you can take a stack out in one go), resulting in you having to have either a very flat drawer to see everything or to buy special storage for the product? Markers are incredibly difficult to store. So you buy special racks. And they change the size. Just like that. Sorry for the ranting, I'm glad you're also supporting buying fridge storage drawers directly from the home section instead of from craft storage specialists, I really am! :-) Aaah, the rubbish. Several people commented on you not having a recycle bin, some suggested a tabletop bin for your scraps, there was one question raised about the size of scraps that should be thrown out. I am from Germany, so recycling is in my genes, lol! I have a double bin - one for paper and one for anything else. But it's in a corner next to the door to stay out of my way and to trip up people coming in to interrupt my creative flow. I also keep two 1 l yogurt buckets decorated with self-adhesive sparkling foil on my desk to correspond to the bins. I have taken out the large paper bin a couple of times and placed it near my working area, but I didn't use it. Lastly, I am always wondering whether there are any other people like me out there - I don't clean up when I've finished my session (although I will do for the stamps with your method now), but rather working up to a new one. Because when putting away the designer papers and other stuff I used to the place they belong to, I see other items hidden away and they inspire me. And no, it's not an excuse, because putting away usually takes me no more than 10 minutes unless I used something that doesn't have a home yet! Again, thanks for the great video. All the best from Germany, Stef
I’m a teensy bit envious! lol I love the storage space/desk(s) behind you! I wish we had an IKEA store near us! I pretty much clean my craft space like you. I desperately need a better desk that has storage space. I currently have a DIY artist table that I purchased at an antique store. It’s a great size, but there is no storage! You definitely inspired me to get better organized, though!
Thank you for this. I agree; every thing needs a home. My problem is making space for those homes. Finding ways to go vertical can solve that. I think the main difference between kitchens and craft/sewing rooms is kitchens typically have homes for every kitchen thing. I just love that drawer unit. Oh and a little LoL, I was working while playing your video, so my focus wasn't 100%. I thought I heard "alcoholics" a few times when you really were saying "alcohol inks." Multitasking isn't all it's cracked up to be.
It definitely makes sense having containers.. I have a Skadis pegboard, which is great because I can change things around, but kind of annoying when I have to keep getting up and picking out the things I need from it (I guess that makes me a bit lazy! Lol). Some great ideas TY :)
Great job Simon I still struggle with purchasing a basket for a craft supply and needing a larger one at the end of the year because I've overgrown it. But I too keep my room pretty tidy but for a few days of working on the same project. Thanks for the free tutorial. kathy
I really liked your storage tips. I do have a bit of a mess. I would scale it a 5 on a one to ten scale. I use a lot of the same systems as you do. Grouping things together is a great idea. If I want to watercolor I have to get my brushes from one place, my watercolors from another drawer and then tape from my yet another cubby. Thanks for the tips.
The problem is I have not enough space in my room for all the stuff I have 😂 An extra room just for crafting would be helpful. But I love the method of cleaning by categories because often it's so much I don't know how to start. And I think I have to organize my desk drawer better, more like yours! Thank you for the video, nice to see a young man crafting too :)
where did you get your pantry storage unit? The size of the shelving looks perfect. I have been looking for a while and would appreciate knowing where you got yours?
Thanks for sharing. Great ideas for storage, I'll be checking out the kitchen/bathroom sections of my stores here now. Keep up the great work Simon, love watching your videos!!! 😀
hello just found your site. love all of the tips of organization. i need all of the tips and help i can get on a budget. your room is awesome you are very lucky.
This was a great! When you started cleaning up all the way to the end. Your storage I still think it was pricey but you have successfully inspired me to start and collecting storage bins! Is it right that I’m excited about cleaning my scraproom?! Lol
Hi Simon! I'm a new subscriber and I stumbled onto your channel... not sure how or what I was looking at but happy I did! Great info! I'm very jealous of your organization skills! I'm trying to organize my new (and first) craft room. I am a bit overwhelmed because I have so much. I just moved into a bigger house and I have an entire bedroom dedicated to my new craft room. I've been looking for different ways to store what I have: bins, shelves, metal filing cabinets and even looked for old kitchen cabinets. I don't have alot of money to spend on new storage cabinets so I need alternative means. It's going to take some time but I'll get there! Thanks for sharing your ideas! I enjoyed this video! 😊
I have found so many crafting supplies and craft storage at the thrift store. A lot of them brand new. What happens is ,people get interested in something ,get excited and go out and buy a bunch of supplies. Then never use them. Most Goodwill's have a craft section and I hit that section about once a week..lol... Most recently ,I have found block stamps brand new in the pack. Expensive glitter markers brand new in the pack originally $12 and I got them for $3. And there's always craft storage units.
Some great ideas and tips. I like that you didn't get all the containers at once, but saved and built it out as you went. Curious about the pouch your brushes are in - sweet print!
Those are Ranger bags designed by the signature designers. You can find them at rangerink.com and use code SIMON20 for 20% off! They are great price! :)

The lint rollers with tacky sheets on them is the best thing I've found for cleaning up glitter on my table.
Thanks for this tip! Never thought about using a lint roller this way 💯

11:07 what an excellent idea for the stamps!!
Thanks for the inspirations, Simon - lots of great storage tips in your video. Keep 'em coming!
Wow you have a very neat room and its not to large. Im impressed with your organization! Way to go.
Super helpful advice! I’m planning my craft room now so this is brilliant and timely 💕
Simon, thanks so much for sharing how you store and clean everything. Your room is amazing and I have learned that I need to get more containers. This was a great video.
Yes! Containers are key! :)
My desk is a disaster, I need to put everything away as I finish my projects! Thank you for a great video!
I use those clear bins all over the house!! They are awesome and very durable.
Hi! I love your organizing system.... very inspiring! Thank you for posting!
Oooo! I LOVE the tins without the lids! Totally doing this!!! If you go to Home Goods or TJ Maxx they have storage containers for SUPER cheap!!!!
Awesome video Simon! Thank you for sharing your ideas!!! Soooo appreciated! Already labeling my blending brushes!
Thanks for sharing your storage and cleaning process. Thank You
Great tips amd ideas! Love watching ALL your videos! Keep up the great work!
Hi Simon! I always enjoy watching a young person clean! LOL Great tips! :)
Thank you for sharing tips and ideas with us. It helped me a lot. My storage changes as supplies grow or I add new crafting skills. I like to see what others do. You are amazing and have such a bright future!
Wow! Simon, that was fantastic! I really loved the tip on cleaning all the stamps at once - brilliant! I will definitely be using that tip. Thank you!
Hi Simon, thank you for sharing I really enjoyed your hints and tips
What a great idea to use the reinker slot in S&S ink storage for ink blending tool!
Nice that you have a routine. I have stuff that has no home. How to you know when it's time to throw away supplies?
Simon- Great tips & great organization. Thank you for sharing this video with us.
That was exactly the kind of direction I needed. Great video.
Thank you for this enjoyable video and especially for linking to so many products! and Yes, I read to the end and I hug you back!
Yup, having a system is key. Plus not overstuffing every drawer so you aren’t scared to open it to put things away 🤣🤣 your room is perfect!
I was so stuck, this video was brilliant thanks.
Great ideas! My craft space is pretty small as well, so cubed storage units, bins, and ink pad space saved me! 😊👍🏻
Aaah, the rubbish.
You definitely inspired me to get better organized, though!
i wish i had a craft room like that thank you for your tutorial love watching your videos
You definitely have to have a place (home) for everything. Then it is a breeze to clean. Believe me I learned the hard way.
It definitely makes sense having containers.. I have a Skadis pegboard, which is great because I can change things around, but kind of annoying when I have to keep getting up and picking out the things I need from it (I guess that makes me a bit lazy! Lol). Some great ideas TY :)
Thanks for sharing your amazing organize CRAFTROOM. Thanks for the ideas. God bless.
Great job Simon I still struggle with purchasing a basket for a craft supply and needing a larger one at the end of the year because I've overgrown it. But I too keep my room pretty tidy but for a few days of working on the same project.
Thanks for the free tutorial. kathy
Thanks for all the organizational tips and links (which must have taken you a long time!) to your storage solutions. Great video
Love the shimmer! Thanks for sharing.
Some great ideas. Will definitely take some aboard
Thx for sharing 💕
I’m so in need of organizing my craft supplies. Thank you! 💕
Thanks for sharing. Great ideas for storage, I'll be checking out the kitchen/bathroom sections of my stores here now. Keep up the great work Simon, love watching your videos!!! 😀
Loved this video! Can’t wait till I get my craft room set up. Thanks for all the ideas and for sharing with us. Great job, Simon!
Thanks so much! Hope you have tons of fun in your new craft space! :)
hello just found your site. love all of the tips of organization. i need all of the tips and help i can get on a budget. your room is awesome you are very lucky.
Thanks, Simon. Going to try some of your ideas. Blessings to you for sharing.
Wonderful video Simon, I’ll be looking everywhere for clear storage containers now!!! 🤗
Very practical tips. Thanks!
Some great ideas and tips. I like that you didn't get all the containers at once, but saved and built it out as you went. Curious about the pouch your brushes are in - sweet print!
