    Helpful tip for anyone making a decision based on "smaller gaps" in the grill. More grill means less airflow. The Sirocco II blades are finger safe, flexible plastic which means it can do away with a safety guard so you're getting all the intended airflow.

      Yes, think I have the same a problem, have you found a fix?. I just bought 2 , installed one via 12V, all went well and worked (except setting 2 is no different to 1 as people are saying), turned it off and it randomly came on 20 mins later. Ive been inside the van this afternoon and it has come on 3 times over 2 hrs, each time I turn it off at the base or remote, stays off for a while then randomly turns itself on (fand and/or light). Hmmmm.

    You have not gone into the mounting details or if the cord comes out the side or rear of the units. I need to mount mine on a vertical surface in my teardrop like the sirocco, is this possible?

    • @GetCampingOz
      @GetCampingOz  3 года назад +1

      The wiring comes out from the base of the units. It actually gets covered by the base it self so no wires are shown. Yes it’s possible to mount this on the vertical surface but for max airflow you will need to angle the fan slightly from the base. Hope that helps

  • @AdamZiegerink-hp6ge

    We have lived with the NCE fans in our caravan for about 2 months, and we've found them to be pretty disappointing. 2 of them have fallen off of their mounts completely when trying to adjust multiple times, and one is broken awaiting replacement. They also get really dusty and are in turn harder to clean due to the grill and multiple fan blades. And also don't see any difference in fan speed between speeds 1 and 2. We're now looking at adding in a few sirocco's. At the end of the day - it's a fan, it doesn't need to be fancy - it just needs to reliably push air around.

    • @GetCampingOz

  • @mperdue12

    Something else to keep in mind besides remote, if you desire to turn it on and off by unplugging it or adding an inline switch this will not work. You have to use the base switch. There is some type of circuit that powers the fan. So you will have to have it within reach. Also, it really isn't all that powerful.

    Very useful clip, thanks for that. NCE it is for me! I understand from your answer to a previous post that you can attach a 12v cigarette lighter plug to the bare wires rather than hard wiring the fan. Apologies for my ignorance, but is it also possible to hook it up with a USB plug? Our camper van has quite a few USB ports. Thanks…

    • @GetCampingOz
      @GetCampingOz  2 года назад +1

      No worries Peter. Glad it helped. Unfortunately USB only provide 5 volt (even though they are usually plugged into a 12v system). You could connect off the back of the USB plug for your power source. These fans don’t pull much power so it would be fine to do so. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

    @kmm4898 2 года назад +6

    Thanks for the comparison. I do think it should be pointed out that the power requirements for these two fans are perhaps not as close as suggested- it piqued my interest so I looked into it.
    - The amperage draw for the NCE looks significantly higher than the Sirocco II. The LOW/2nd speed setting on the NCE is twice the current draw for the Sirocco II and NCE's setting 3 is the same as High on the Sirocco II. Also, how much air does the NCE actually push? NCE provides RPM details which is completely meaningless (and I suspect intentional as it likely doesn't push as much air as their competitor's product). C'mon, they're DC fans... lets talk about power consumption and CFM, no? Even a simple test with a lightly weighted ribbon could be used to demonstrate which fan was blowing more air at say 1 foot distance (~.3 meter) and this would be valuable if you ever do a followup video.
    - Caframo provides CFM data for the high/low speeds for their product: Low: 125CFM at 0.06 amps (12v) or 0.72 watts and High: 185CFM at 0.35 amps (12v) which is 4.2 watts.
    - So for those who have low power consumption requirements, it looks like you would get twice your battery time from a Sirocco II on Low speed compared to the NCE on Low/2nd, and 24% more on the presumption that the high speed on the NCE and Scirocco II are both around 185 CFM and you are using each to get the maximum airflow.
    -Another point I would like to make- its rarely a good idea to combine two different functions into one device if you have to rely on it- think of those ridiculous TV/VCR combos... one half goes out and the other becomes useless. Less is more sometimes, and if you have to rely on "it" out in Nowhereville, I think I don't have to belabor that point too much more.
    -We don't get the NCE fan here in the USA but the Scirocco II is available so it makes for an easier choice for me, plus they've proven themselves over time and I have power constraints to work around. I'd rather not have to send a fan back to AU to get what little warranty out of it if I had to, it wouldnt' be worth the wait or shipping expense... the Scirocco II was $109 USD for me here in the USA and I got it in two days plus 2 year warranty specified ,and I couldn't find the warranty on the NCE website.
    I do sincerely appreciate your review, and hope the points above help others decide what is right for them.

    • @GetCampingOz
      @GetCampingOz  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for the comments. I’m certainly not an expert or claim to be. My observation on both units are genuine. They both have good and bad points. At the end of the day they are still low power draw regardless of what you choose. If power was that tight that you were unsure which to choose I would suggest you need to re think your setup as ultimately the over all consumption shouldn’t be the deciding factor. Appreciate your in depth analysis. Cheers
